My friend is now addiction free and he gave one piece of advice. You need to have a desire that is immovable. Don't listen to all those "mind tricks" because if you have to resort to tricks, you don't have a pure desire to change. For the first weeks where he had urges, he said "I am willing to die to live a virtuous life." No matter the intensity of the urge he always said "If this kills me but it means I can live a clean life, so be it." When you are willing to DIE for a noble cause, your spirit kicks into a different level. God requires a broken heart and contrite spirit.

Desire for sexual release without lust, fantasy or pornographic stimulation. Our bodies have an inborn sexual need. The marriage bed is where this need is meant to be fulfilled yet there are many reasons it isn't. Masturbation is a release and I can continue with my day, however bringing Jesus to mind just delays the inevitable as sexual thoughts will be there all the time. So you repent and ask forgiveness and one day you realize that each time you have repented and asked forgiveness well you just did it again. There has to be a point where you realize this is a biological release rather than a willful sin of any type. There will always be someone telling you how much guilt you should have , but as 1 Cor 6:12 say all things are permissible not everything is profitable. If I got rid of masturbation in my life I would probably be a heck of a lot closer to being pure. Somehow from previous examples of my life , that will not happen.

This has helped, I'm 13 and I've done it before, Its been about almost 4 days since I've done it, and since then I've been struggling a little, but not to bad. During me doing it..I've felt right, but right after I usually feel ashamed of myself because that is God telling me that I am shaming him. I've never believed that you'd go to hell by doing it to much, but I still feel like it is not right to do. Praise the Lord! I dealt with it for about a year before getting a panic attack and realizing that I had been ignoring God. If God hadn't woken me up I would've kept backsliding and resorting to my loopholes and being stuck in sin and guilt. God's grace is amazing. Hallelujah!
A huge part of resisting temptation is to always be in touch with your gut, the knowledge of right and wrong. It keeps me from sinning a lot so that I'm in positive touch with God more of the time and that I don't feel scared or guilty more often than a lot.

The grace of God helps. He gave it to help us in our time of need (Hebrews 4:16, Titus 2:11-14). Whatever the challenge, we can live in the way that pleases God and not compromise because of what our flesh desires. Once you completely submit to God to obey Him in all, see also how a prayer life where you constantly put all your burdens before God changes the way you deal with (naturally) desiring things you don't yet have in this time of your life. God is always aware of what's going on in every season of our life, so if God is first in our life, we are never without help, being single or otherwise.
Masturbation has been helpful for me at times as a single christian; not engaging in porn or lust, but only as a release and for peace of mind. I have a weakness for compulsive behavior and having pent up sexual frustration often leads to me doing something worse. It feels wrong to go worship at church after masturbation but I feel fine about it after washing my hands or taking a shower. I think there is room in christianity for single people to release sexual tension before God without it leading to sin. In all that you do, do it unto the Lord

As a woman who is trying to be abstinent, occasional pleasing myself has helped me say "no" to temptation. We're not perfect, and lust is a problem, but if it helps you control your hormones, it's better to masturbate than have sex with someone. Personally it doesn't increase my "hunger" for sex, and since I don't watch porn, I don't believe it is a sin. On the other hand, if it's becoming an obsession for you, then yes, it is a sin and a problem you need to adress and solve. In all cases listen to your inner voice, if it's convicting you then you need to stop.
YES I completely agree and have the same view as you in this. I notice that 2 days before my period is when I feel the urge and it’s usually like clock work. I am not addicted to it, nor do I do it often. Just like Allen said, if you are addicted or letting it control you and letting it lead you into actually having sex or to watch porn, or have lustful thoughts then it would signal an issue.

Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.” James 4:7 KJV I resisted when the urge came or I saw an image that provoke the desire. I committed fully to resisting knowing now with that verse that the devil would flee from me because God said so and it was. I think before then I still kind of wanted to live in the flesh and deep down I didn’t believe I could successfully resist, but now I know I can. Some areas of concern when it comes to masturbation include being addicted to it (not having self-control), fantasizing about sexual relations with random people or just making it primarily what one turns to to deal with some difficulty, whatever it may be. God would rather his servant turns to Him in prayer for help about any challenges and experience receiving his grace (Hebrews 4:16). God is glorified to deliver his servant rather than to see him/her become dependent on whatever temporary relief that masturbation or anything else people often get addicted to may bring. God also cares about purity of heart (Matthew 5:8, James 4:8, 1 Timothy 1:5, Hebrews 12:14). All behaviors will either work towards that or against that. So, you have to discern what God's will is from your own relationship with God. What you said at the end is interesting, and I can honestly answer 'yes' to all of these 6 questions. I've been saved for almost 3 years, and I wrestled with whether masturbation without lust was a sin. Most of the time, masturbation would lead to lust, even if I started without lust. But there was a time in my walk, maybe a year or so into my walk, where I fully believed there was nothing wrong with it. When I did it then, I had no conviction. But after a while, I eventually felt... odd about it. But when I look back on that now, I see that I wasn't feeling 'conviction' at those times, I was just confused. So as far as I can understand, biblically, I wasn't sinning when I had full faith I was honoring God with it. But when I did it with even a little doubt, I was sinning. Another thing that's interesting is the area of self control: For my whole life, up until around a month ago, I struggled with lust. I do believe fasting from being online helped with this, but still, I struggled with lust. But then I wondered: how do I know for sure that masturbation is sinful in itself? Scripture doesn't mention it, and the act itself is not condemned, while lust is. So after praying for a very long time, and asking about it, I realized I would be able to do this with self-control. So for me, good fruit bears from that, and there is no addiction, lust, and there isn't even the temptation to lust - very interesting, considering that I struggled with it so much before. I believe the issue of masturbation has to do with Romans 14 (different freedoms to different Christians), and the right/wrong aspect of it would depend on the Christian and their own personal convictions (which should be based on their self-control/maturity regarding those actions). For example, for some Christians, drinking alcohol is okay. But for others, they're unable to control themselves and they get drunk. So given that there's no addiction, lust, and there's full faith that this act honors God, I believe this can be godly. Obviously, though, this should be avoided if lust/addiction would become a great risk. While I am convicted there can be a place for this in marriage, this, like oral/anal sex or other forms of intimacy could be abused if used in a selfish way. Masturbation, like any other form of sexual acts, must be consensual between both a husband and wife. I know this is very controversial, so every Christian must look at their own convictions and whether God would be honored with them doing this. But at all costs, avoid judging others for things like this, when those actions may be permissible/fruitful for them.

for me it definitely hasn't become an addiction, I haven't watched porn while doing it, and it hasn't lead to me wanting more before marriage. As a Christian going through mentally depressed times over the years I confessed that I do masturbate because I'm of course depressed, lonely (single) and it also helps me before I sleep. Just needed the dopamine or serotonin just to get through the day. At least I don't do drugs, drink or smoke I just don't know anymore.. 🙁
I am not a native English speaker, but I will try my best to help. In Mt 22,35-40 Jesus explains that ALL (Jewish and therefore also Christian) commandments and laws exist to fulfil the great commandment: "...'You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind.' This is the greatest and first commandment. And a second is like it: 'You shall love your neighbour as yourself.' On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets." This is proven in Mk 2,27-28 where Jesus breaks the third commandment, because it would prevent him from helping others and therefore preventing to fulfil the great commandment. I think it's really important to understand, that god's law is not just a random burden. Instead, every single commandment improves life in society and therefore fulfils the great commandment. Here the Decalogue (10 commandments): 1), 2) Don't have other gods. Don't misuse the name of the lord. (first part of great commandment) 3) Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy (people are healthier when they can take a day off sometimes, especially back in the days when slavery was a thing) 4) Honour thy father and thy mother (improves family peace) 5) Thou shalt not murder (makes you feel more secure in your neighbourhood) 6) Thou shalt not commit adultery (improves trust in your partner and decreases spreading of STDs) 7) Thou shalt not steal (enables saving for bad times) 8) Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour (improves trust in others) 9) 10) Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's house, wife, slaves, animals, anything of the neighbour (don't even think about stealing [well, apparently wives were somewhat a property back then]) BTW, these 10 commandments are not the full law in the Old Testament. Overall, the Jews have a set of 613 such commandments (mitzvah = מִצְוָה in Hebrew). That is one of the reasons why they have so much knowledge about the Old Testament. They MUST know these commandments. But let's go back to the topic. As Allen stated in the video, there is no such commandment as "Thou shalt not masturbate". So as a Christian, it is your duty to decide whether it opposes the great commandment. If you have a partner that would be left out if you masturbated: don't do it. I'm a married woman and I became saved after I got married. I was not raised in a Christian home and never felt shame from it. I started masturbating when I was a young child and didn't know yet what it was. Since becoming saved I have wrestled with this and tried to stop at one point, which made me really hyper focused on sex. Like I was just irritable and anxious and feeling so much tension I didn't know what to do with it. I decided to not worry about it and only do it when my husband was out of town like on a business trip or just too busy. I actually find that I need it the most when I am physically sick like it irritates me. I'm thinking in situations like that it is okay. Kind of like having a really strong craving for unhealthy food sometimes. It's better to just go ahead and have some and get physical relief rather than fight so much with your body.

He will surely point out to you anything that is possibly in the way of closeness to Him, whether that's a wrong action/behavior or a wrong mindset. So, if you focus on building or deepening your relationship with God, then you will be able to seek and receive his precise guidance on anything. Also, just making something like masturbation what you primarily turn to in order to deal with some difficulty, whatever it may be, causes you to create an idol out of it in your heart and that is sinful. If we truly repent and put our faith in Christ Jesus, submitting to Him as our Lord, then He becomes our sure hope and hell is not our destination. God's plan in Christ is to deliver us from our sins. He saves us not to sin but to walk in His righteousness. This is by his power and not our own.
If we struggle though we are in Christ, we know that there's hope for us because we are being sanctified, made holy, transformed. We become transformed in our character through the ongoing work of the Holy Spirit. We do not continue in sin. We do not forsake God's way for our pleasure but we trust in the Lord to walk in His right paths. And when we fail we know we have a High Priest on our behalf: the Lord Jesus. May the LORD help His people to walk in newness of life!

Not many are willing to do that. I hope that gives you an idea of why not many are getting any practical results out of their faith. It's because they may want to wave a magic wand precisely, and not approach God the way He has prescribed (James 1:21-22), willing to repent genuinely and stop living for themselves (Romans 6:4-11, 2 Corinthians 5:15). Anyway, there is a lot of baggage that may come with the world's idea of "will power." That's not what the Bible teaches to those who want to follow God's ways. They just have to be "willing" to obey Him in all.

The marriage bed is where this need is meant to be fulfilled yet there are many reasons it isn't. Masturbation is a release and I can continue with my day, however bringing Jesus to mind just delays the inevitable as sexual thoughts will be there all the time. So you repent and ask forgiveness and one day you realize that each time you have repented and asked forgiveness well you just did it again. There has to be a point where you realize this is a biological release rather than a willful sin of any type. There will always be someone telling you how much guilt you should have , but as 1 Cor 6:12 say all things are permissible not everything is profitable. If I got rid of masturbation in my life I would probably be a heck of a lot closer to being pure. Somehow from previous examples of my life , that will not happen.

And when you do that. God has a chance to work in you!

It might not be a separate person, but guilt comes after because you've molested your body by handling it in a perverted manner to stimulate self to orgasm. This is part of why the feeling of "loss" comes in afterwards; aka feeling robbed. If the Lord leads you, there are times when fasting ( a length of time without food and just plain water ) is necessary to break off the strongholds. Or instead of waiting until He leads you, you may decide to fast. If so, try 2 or 3 days at first. No, it is never easy or fun, but then again, the "fun" route leads not to heaven....

This has helped, I'm 13 and I've done it before, Its been about almost 4 days since I've done it, and since then I've been struggling a little, but not to bad. During me doing it..I've felt right, but right after I usually feel ashamed of myself because that is God telling me that I am shaming him. I've never believed that you'd go to hell by doing it to much, but I still feel like it is not right to do. A huge part of resisting temptation is to always be in touch with your gut, the knowledge of right and wrong. It keeps me from sinning a lot so that I'm in positive touch with God more of the time and that I don't feel scared or guilty more often than a lot.

The grace of God helps. He gave it to help us in our time of need (Hebrews 4:16, Titus 2:11-14). Whatever the challenge, we can live in the way that pleases God and not compromise because of what our flesh desires. Once you completely submit to God to obey Him in all, see also how a prayer life where you constantly put all your burdens before God changes the way you deal with (naturally) desiring things you don't yet have in this time of your life. God is always aware of what's going on in every season of our life, so if God is first in our life, we are never without help, being single or otherwise.

Masturbation has been helpful for me at times as a single christian; not engaging in porn or lust, but only as a release and for peace of mind. I have a weakness for compulsive behavior and having pent up sexual frustration often leads to me doing something worse. It feels wrong to go worship at church after masturbation but I feel fine about it after washing my hands or taking a shower. I think there is room in christianity for single people to release sexual tension before God without it leading to sin. In all that you do, do it unto the Lord

As a woman who is trying to be abstinent, occasional pleasing myself has helped me say "no" to temptation. We're not perfect, and lust is a problem, but if it helps you control your hormones, it's better to masturbate than have sex with someone. Personally it doesn't increase my "hunger" for sex, and since I don't watch porn, I don't believe it is a sin. On the other hand, if it's becoming an obsession for you, then yes, it is a sin and a problem you need to adress and solve. In all cases listen to your inner voice, if it's convicting you then you need to stop.

YES I completely agree and have the same view as you in this. I notice that 2 days before my period is when I feel the urge and it’s usually like clock work. I am not addicted to it, nor do I do it often. Just like Allen said, if you are addicted or letting it control you and letting it lead you into actually having sex or to watch porn, or have lustful thoughts then it would signal an issue.

I think before then I still kind of wanted to live in the flesh and deep down I didn’t believe I could successfully resist, but now I know I can. 1. No, I generally do not. I have before, and when I do lust for women, I repent and pray that God can help me see them as the whole and wonderful people they are rather than sex objects. This generally works, and I don't fantasize about anyone repeatedly.
2. Nope, I treat masturbation purely as a way to scratch a biological itch. I try to fantasize to erotica, or fictional characters, which may not fundamentally be different from pornography, but I think I and many others are great at distinguishing the difference between fantasy and reality. This stops me from lusting for women I meet, or currently know.
3. Actually yes. Studies show that masturbation is linked to reduced rates of prostate cancer in men, and overall is a great sleep-aid, and stress reliever.
4. Nope, not an addiction for me. I do it with regularity, but this habit doesn't stop me from putting daily bread on my plate, or forming meaningful relationships.
5. Definitely not. I have always felt nothing (good nor bad) before doing it. To this day, I feel nothing, although if I do it too much in a day, I'll feel a bit empty inside.
6. Nope. I'm single, and if I was married, my preference would be to please my partner, or take that pent up energy and do something special for them (cook, plan a date, give them a massage) rather than masturbate.

Secret Sin is more addictive and condemns conscience. But the power of God is capable of destroying all forms of hold on our lives.. I prayed about it and I consciously worked towards it by engaging my mind in things that are productive..

Some areas of concern when it comes to masturbation include being addicted to it (not having self-control), fantasizing about sexual relations with random people or just making it primarily what one turns to to deal with some difficulty, whatever it may be. God would rather his servant turns to Him in prayer for help about any challenges and experience receiving his grace (Hebrews 4:16). God is glorified to deliver his servant rather than to see him/her become dependent on whatever temporary relief that masturbation or anything else people often get addicted to may bring.
God also cares about purity of heart (Matthew 5:8, James 4:8, 1 Timothy 1:5, Hebrews 12:14). All behaviors will either work towards that or against that. So, you have to discern what God's will is from your own relationship with God. He will surely point out to you anything that is possibly in the way of closeness to Him, whether that's a wrong action/behavior or a wrong mindset.

I know I am too. Yesterday I promised I wouldn’t do it and I did it today please pray this is so hard.
Six questions covered
1) Am I lusting?

What you said at the end is interesting, and I can honestly answer 'yes' to all of these 6 questions. I've been saved for almost 3 years, and I wrestled with whether masturbation without lust was a sin. Most of the time, masturbation would lead to lust, even if I started without lust. But there was a time in my walk, maybe a year or so into my walk, where I fully believed there was nothing wrong with it. When I did it then, I had no conviction. But after a while, I eventually felt... odd about it. But when I look back on that now, I see that I wasn't feeling 'conviction' at those times, I was just confused. So as far as I can understand, biblically, I wasn't sinning when I had full faith I was honoring God with it. But when I did it with even a little doubt, I was sinning.
Another thing that's interesting is the area of self control: For my whole life, up until around a month ago, I struggled with lust. I do believe fasting from being online helped with this, but still, I struggled with lust. But then I wondered: how do I know for sure that masturbation is sinful in itself? Scripture doesn't mention it, and the act itself is not condemned, while lust is. So after praying for a very long time, and asking about it, I realized I would be able to do this with self-control. So for me, good fruit bears from that, and there is no addiction, lust, and there isn't even the temptation to lust - very interesting, considering that I struggled with it so much before. I believe the issue of masturbation has to do with Romans 14 (different freedoms to different Christians), and the right/wrong aspect of it would depend on the Christian and their own personal convictions (which should be based on their self-control/maturity regarding those actions). For example, for some Christians, drinking alcohol is okay. But for others, they're unable to control themselves and they get drunk. So given that there's no addiction, lust, and there's full faith that this act honors God, I believe this can be godly. Obviously, though, this should be avoided if lust/addiction would become a great risk. While I am convicted there can be a place for this in marriage, this, like oral/anal sex or other forms of intimacy could be abused if used in a selfish way. Masturbation, like any other form of sexual acts, must be consensual between both a husband and wife.
I know this is very controversial, so every Christian must look at their own convictions and whether God would be honored with them doing this. But at all costs, avoid judging others for things like this, when those actions may be permissible/fruitful for them.

for me it definitely hasn't become an addiction, I haven't watched porn while doing it, and it hasn't lead to me wanting more before marriage. To me it just seems like a self-indulgence, like if I eat Ben and Jerry's or watch Netflix which isn't bad once in a while but can easily become a harmful addiction.

When I got saved in knew immediately it's wrong. That's when I confirmed that there is a holy spirit. I'm still struggling though, I'd stop for 8 months and then boom
I'm surprised. Even after eight months the temptation comes back? That is crazy. Males, with different hormones, will struggle a lot. Unfortunately, it can be difficult because some females dress up so provocative! I try to ignore it now, and sometimes my eyes like to stare! i think i allready know this answer. it must be because i love God and when i do it it messes up my desire to worship God, and it feels good for only a few minutes but when i am done my body hurts for 2 and a half days.. so i think ill lay off!!! no thanks devil.

As a Christian going through mentally depressed times over the years I confessed that I do masturbate because I'm of course depressed, lonely (single) and it also helps me before I sleep. Just needed the dopamine or serotonin just to get through the day. At least I don't do drugs, drink or smoke

I am not a native English speaker, but I will try my best to help.
In Mt 22,35-40 Jesus explains that ALL (Jewish and therefore also Christian) commandments and laws exist to fulfil the great commandment:
"...'You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind.' This is the greatest and first commandment. And a second is like it: 'You shall love your neighbour as yourself.' On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets."
This is proven in Mk 2,27-28 where Jesus breaks the third commandment, because it would prevent him from helping others and therefore preventing to fulfil the great commandment.
I think it's really important to understand, that god's law is not just a random burden. Instead, every single commandment improves life in society and therefore fulfils the great commandment. Here the Decalogue (10 commandments):
1), 2) Don't have other gods. Don't misuse the name of the lord. (first part of great commandment)
3) Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy (people are healthier when they can take a day off sometimes, especially back in the days when slavery was a thing)
4) Honour thy father and thy mother (improves family peace)
5) Thou shalt not murder (makes you feel more secure in your neighbourhood)
6) Thou shalt not commit adultery (improves trust in your partner and decreases spreading of STDs)
7) Thou shalt not steal (enables saving for bad times)
8) Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour (improves trust in others)
9) 10) Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's house, wife, slaves, animals, anything of the neighbour (don't even think about stealing [well, apparently wives were somewhat a property back then])
BTW, these 10 commandments are not the full law in the Old Testament. Overall, the Jews have a set of 613 such commandments (mitzvah = מִצְוָה in Hebrew). That is one of the reasons why they have so much knowledge about the Old Testament. They MUST know these commandments.
But let's go back to the topic. As Allen stated in the video, there is no such commandment as "Thou shalt not masturbate". So as a Christian, it is your duty to decide whether it opposes the great commandment.
If you have a partner that would be left out if you masturbated: don't do it. (Rather, tell him or her to do it for you. ^.^)
But if masturbating...
* does NOT make you stop loving god (first part of the great commandment) and
* does NOT bother ANY person (second part of the great commandment)
And if masturbating helps you though your life: I don't see a reason why anyone would consider it a sin.

Dude I’m single too and it feels like sometimes I just let my hormones take over but you got to realize that God has someone out there for you and it’s just a matter of time until you meet them. I'm a married woman and I became saved after I got married. I was not raised in a Christian home and never felt shame from it. I started masturbating when I was a young child and didn't know yet what it was. Since becoming saved I have wrestled with this and tried to stop at one point, which made me really hyper focused on sex. Like I was just irritable and anxious and feeling so much tension I didn't know what to do with it. I decided to not worry about it and only do it when my husband was out of town like on a business trip or just too busy. I actually find that I need it the most when I am physically sick like it irritates me. I'm thinking in situations like that it is okay. Kind of like having a really strong craving for unhealthy food sometimes. It's better to just go ahead and have some and get physical relief rather than fight so much with your body.
I can share this: One should control his/her thoughts and actions, but sexual desire in itself is natural and not evil. And God cares about purity of heart most certainly, so there is sin when that along with self-control in one's thoughts and actions are lacking (Matthew 5:8, James 4:8, 1 Corinthians 9:24-27).
As for this topic of masturbation or concerning any matter, clarity can be found by seeking God. He will surely point out to you anything that is possibly in the way of closeness to Him, whether that's a wrong action/behavior or a wrong mindset. So, if you focus on building or deepening your relationship with God, then you will be able to seek and receive his precise guidance on anything.
Also, just making something like masturbation what you primarily turn to in order to deal with some difficulty, whatever it may be, causes you to create an idol out of it in your heart and that is sinful. God would rather his servants turn to Him in prayer for help about any challenges and experience receiving his grace (Hebrews 4:16). God is glorified to deliver his servants rather than to see them become dependent on whatever temporary relief that masturbation or anything else people often get addicted to may bring.
