- I show you round all the features of my latest van conversion from the storage through seating and sleeping to the fitted kitchen and electrical system. This van used to be a builders van and then a delivery van, now it's a campervan for remote working.
Nice mate. Just bought my vivaro today. Can’t v wait to get started
Thank you. Have fun with yours.
How'd you get on?
I'm getting a vivaro and will definitely copy this! Brilliant 👏
Very neat design, especially the table/bed board.
Thanks for the video, Ally. Nice van layout. I converted a 2014 Renault Trafic LWB into a "Touring Van". I hope to see more videos of your van in the future. You have a new subscriber. Have a nice day.
So cool, brilliant ideas, the ID for the dinning and bed are perfect. I would prefer to have a simple kitchen pod unit that I can bring it outdoor for cooking instead of indoor unless it's raining ☔...to minimise any oily fumes dispersion, house keeping or cleaning after cooking ....
The woodwork is even more beautiful close up!
Podoba mi się, wszystko praktyczne i ładnie wygląda. 👍
Had a Fiat Talento onyx edition 70 reg ( newer version of this van ) fully converted. With a traditional layout you can have side cupboards,a swivel bench seat, 120 cm wide rib bed, fridge, sink, cylinder drop out cabinet, burners etc. Pop top from Drivelodge fitted as well as canopy, diesel heater, two liesure batteries and solar panel. Makes a more useful van than a VW because it is bigger and in LWB form like mine capacious for this type of van and also much cheaper than a VW.
Great conversion!
Nicely done!
Super , urobione,gratuluje
Love this layout. Could i have a copy of the sketch up gor the bed plans please.
Yes of course, just send an email to afwoodworks@gmail.com
totally sick!!!
pretty rad bro. nicely done
Hi Ally . Is this a lwb vivaro ? Love your work . Any plans or links to where you bought materials and finishes would be greatly appreciated
Hi Jon. Yes it's a lwb. Email afwoodworks@gmail.com and i'll send you the sketchup drawings.
Great job. Thanks for sharing
I have a Vivaro Double cab/Crew van, we made an awning that hangs over the back doors, I use extending poles as it is about a meter proud of the doors and we peg it down. You can 'sit out' with a table and chairs even when raining. Think such an Awning would be useful for yourself.
Nothing that keeps food cold ? (not necessarily a built in fridge)
Most awkward intro ever 😂 Love it.
You seem to have misspelt awesome. 😉
@@allyfrasermakes It genuinely is awesome. I didn’t even mean it in a negative light. Haha.
Good afternoon, I've been watching videos of the Renault Trafic camper for quite some time, and the truth is that yours is the one I liked the most. Really, great work.
Could you tell me how thick the wood you used for the bed furniture is?
Thanks greetings
Hello Juan, Many thanks for your kind words! I used 12mm birch plywood for the table/bed. The fixed units are made from 15 and 12mm plywood. Ally
Hi Ally. I was looking for ideas to make simple conversation and I come across your ideas and think it’s amazing. Can you describe process please and some materials to use for insulation and other stuff like electrics if you got time. Thank you for sharing
In brief: I used self adhesive closed cell foam to insulate the side panels and roof-this is also good for sound deadening. I used a sheet of 25mm celotex under the plywood floor. Behind all the interior panelling is recycled plastic insulation from B&Q. I carpeted all the metalwork with stretch carpet applied with spray glue. I've used Birch plywood throughout, opting for the thinnest boards to save weight without sacrificing strength where needed. The doors are Valchromat (essentially MR MDF) that I had offcuts of. Electrics were all from Bimble Solar except a few little bits. I'd recommend using a DC-DC charger to charge your leisure battery from the engine battery over a split charger-you get what you pay for. All the rest is head scratching, sketches, measurements and calculations. If you would like my sketchup models please email afwoodworks@gmail.com
@@allyfrasermakes thank you for replying. Great advice. Cheers
Ficou muito top 🔝 e qual o custo para um realizar um projeto desse numa van Vauxhall VIVARO 2015 ?
Obrigado. Não falo português e isso não foi bem traduzido no Google.
@@allyfrasermakes How much did you spend in cash?
@@Ocrivodahistoria24 The mateerial cost was about £2500.
Just the kind of setup we're looking for Ally, thanks. Just one thing - is your van L1, L2 or L3? We're hoping to get a van that is no more than 5 metres in length; so we can park easily on the street. Cheers
Hi orlando. Thanks for your kind words. I am not aware of there being an L3 version of this van, but this is the LWB Vivaro. It's 2.8m long load space.
@@allyfrasermakes Thanks
That's mint matey, I've got a 2019 vivaro, how much would you convert mine for bud
Thanks for your interest. Please contact me allyfrasermakes@gmail.com for a consultation and price.
Tidy 👌🏼
How did you insulate the side doors?
Same as the rest of the van. I used self adhesive 10mm closed cell foam that comes on a roll. It's awkward to get in through the metalwork, but just do the best you can and then fill where possible with recycled plastic wadding type insulation.
Really like this setup. Would you have any build plans for the furniture to sell?
I basically just made it up as I went along so I don't have any proper plans as such. But if you email afwoodworks@gmail.com I'll send you the sketchup drawings I did. namaste
Hi mate. Love the build! Is there any chance you have plans for this conversion I could have?
Hello. If you send me an email to afwoodworks@gmail.com I will send you the sketchup drawings I did for this van. It doesn't have measurements on it, I always just calculate them as I go along and they will have been thrown away on a scrap of paper ages ago (although the drawing will be to scale), but you are welcome to see the layout and take inspiration from it. Namaste
Nice job. Where did you get that cooker/sink combo?
Hi, it's the Lavanda sink and hob combination unit. Can't remember where from, my client bought it online somewhere.
I was wondering what height you’ve done the unit?
Hi. I assume you mean the height of the kitchen unit, It's 700mm. The seating units are 420mm.
looks good but what does the rest of the bed rest on
There is a fold out leg that supports the far corner of the bed base.
Hi great conversion could you let me know what length of bed did you end up with please also where did you put your leisure batteries in the design thanks great job
Hi David. The bed is a small double mattress. 1200mm x 1900mm. Obviously any build in a van of this size is going to be a compromise but the bed is one thing I personally think is vital to be comfortable. If I don't sleep the whole trip is dooomed! The leisure batteries were housed on the floor of the van at the far end of the kitchen unit.
Behind the driver's seat
Is what you mean?
Nice, can sleep east to west, what is the interior width of the bed?
The bed is 1200 x 1900.
Hi just wondering how tall you are? Planning a similar build and worried about hitting my head while sitting. Cheers
I'm 1810mm tall, aka 5' 11" andabit. It's a tight fit as you can see. It's a compromise between seat height and head space.
Is this a long wheel base or short wheel base van?
It's the long wheel base
@@allyfrasermakes Thanks
Hey Nice Build. Could you tell me what type and thickness board you used? Have a great day.
Well, I've used different thickness boards everywhere. The roof is panelled with 7mm T&G cladding, the walls are done with 6mm Birch ply to flex in the curves of the van, the furniture is a mix of 12 and 15mm birch ply to keep the weight down but be strong where needed, I used 6 and 9mm for the drawer boxes. The doors are 18mm Valchromat and the floor is 15mm hardwood ply.
@@allyfrasermakes Thanks for the fast reply, looking at conversion on same year and type van, will be starting soon. Going to use for metal detecting journey's and your build fits my needs. Thanks again.
Did you insulate the floor?
Hi, Yes the floor was insulated with a 25mm sheet of foil board insulation which was bonded down directly to the metal floor of the van.
@@allyfrasermakes thanks for the reply. Love the layout I'm going to take a lot of inspiration for my van from yours :)
So when it's cold/raining (every day in the UK) you have go out to make the bed or get you clothes? This is not just an idle moan, a lot of people are looking for ideas building their vans and so many are not using the best system of a rock-n-roll bed. Down in one second up in 5 seconds and with a swivel front seat seating for 4.
You make a valid point, but you're comparing chalk with cheese. I, and many other people here, know which one I prefer the taste of.
@@allyfrasermakes I am sure lots of people like to get cold and wet, they sell millions of tents. But the point of a camper is a thing called a metal roof so you dont....get you chalk wet. Have you actually tried cooking in the wind of the rain?
Hey where did you get the gas hob and sink combo
Hi, it's the Lavanda sink and hob combination unit. Can't remember where from, my client bought it online somewhere.
Great, but would have preferred the toilet to be more accessible with the bed down for any nighttime 'visits.'
Yöllä nukutaan eikä kakita
Sorry another question how do you access your fresh and waste water
Hi David. The fresh water is held in 2 x 10L water containers that can be swapped over when they run out. This makes filling easy as you can just carry the bottles to the tap instead of having to drive the van to the tap and have a hose to connect to the water inlet. The waste water drains straight out the bottom of the van. But a collapsible bucket can be used to capture the waste if the situation demands that grey water not be spilled. Such as in a car park.
I love this layout, could i have a copy of the bed plan sketch please
what wheel base is it?
It's the LWB
Olá. Não colocou sanita química porquê?
El cliente no quería uno. Era sólo para una emergencia, no para uso regular. La furgoneta es demasiado pequeña para cagar en ella.
How long is the bed when laid out?
1900mm
super brat..!!
Any template for bed please
The bed is just the tabletop, and it just needs to be made to fit between the floor units. I will send you the sketch up plans I made for this van if you email me afwoodworks@gmail.com

Quel gâchis !
Y a des gens qui honte de rien !!
Pouvez-vous expliquer plus?
@@allyfrasermakes
Non.
But you can't STAND up!!
Very neat design. Only thing I notice in quite a few builds is that you have to get out of the cosy van to set up the bed..? 🚐👏👏☘
This is true, but building anything in a van of this size is going to be a compromise. Maybe with a more sophisticated folding bed design that could be avoided, but then you'd have to give up something else. You can't have it all, unless maybe you convert a 7.5ton truck. The dream!
Could you possibly have the table top without the hinges that way you can stay inside the van and slot them in individually?
You don't see intros like that much these days 😂
It really pleases me that that's the part of this video you commented on. Glad to be of service.
GREAT conversion Ally!! .... Would you be kind enough to share your plans/drawings ... will send my email to your email .... Thankyou!
