In my opinion the most important Aussie band was the Easybeats. They were leaders in the industry. I'm with you on the noise. How anyone listens to it is beyond me. I was surprised at how many I'd never heard of. It seems I didn't get around. Thanks Mike. Lots of fodder there for new videos. Have fun.
Sunnyboys, JojoZepp, MenAtWork, Christine Ainu, Renee Geyser, Marcia Hines, Deni Hines, Teh Veronicas, Natalie Imbroglio, Tina Arena, Air Supplied, Savage Gardenia, Hush, Martha and the Muffins, Hunters and Collectors, Sheilas Gotta Win, Goanna Band, Manduway Yunalpingu, Delta Gooduns, Saltwater Crocodile, Lungfish, Great White Shark, Thylacoleo Carnifax, Brushy Tail Rock Wallaby, Rump steak, Oyster-blade Steak, global extinction gasification (another "Great Dying" epoch), The Eternal Irradiation of the Spotless Black Hole GRB... Sry my mind wanders when extended.
Good afternoon Mike, that was beautiful. Thank you so much for giving Australian musicians a go. Always appreciate your reactions .But to be honest I like the music my parents played ie Queen Dire Straits Cold Chisel Jackson Browne etc
sadly alot of great artist and bands missing from list and there was some that werent australian but i had simular reaction as you did keep up the good work mike
Hey Mike, I was born in the 1950s here in Aus, shhh don’t tell anyone 😂 and I was pulling the same faces as you, “Uh, who are they?” I was never into many of those heavy bands. Some others I hadn’t heard of and I’ve still got all of my vinyl records, cassette tapes and CDs. Laughing here at us pulling the same faces lol 😂 😊
Good list there, not sure who you have covered at this stage, but HOODOO GURUS and also ICEHOUSE, MONDO ROCK, just to suggest a few others for you, all the best to you.
There is a ton of good music in that but not all the song choices were the best. Ones worth a further look Are You Am I, Eskimo Joe, Choirboys, The Angels, Ted Mulry Gang, TISM, Helen Reddy John Paul Young, Baby Animals, Billy Thorpe, Russel Morris(not on there I think), Jet, Sherbet, The Seekers Air Supply, Pseudo Echo,1927, LRB of course, Aus Crawl, Noiseworks, Hunters and Collectors, Eurogliders, Hoodoo Gurus, The Cruel Sea, Guy Sebastion, Mi-Sex,The Mixtures, Normie Rowe, Ol '55, Ray Brown and the Whispers, Bobby and Laurie, John English, The Bootleg Family Band, Brian CADD, The Twilights, The Reels, Southern Sons and probably another 50 I don't remember. I have rather eclectic tastes in music lol.
The very first one was the Cockroaches who became non other then the WIGGLES my brother was in the same class as Anthony Field . There were many i have never heard of and many who were missing .
Never heard of half of these bands, I must have selective hearing. You must checkout Billy Thorpe from his amazing version of Somewhere Over the Rainbow as good if not better than Judy's, on to his later stuff. Choirboys are good. Easybeats are great.
Mate midnight oil, saints, cold chisel, angels, AC DC , Billy Thorpe, easybeats, living end, rose tattoo, Divinyls, Dragon, INXS, lobby loyde , just to name a few
I noticed a couple of bands that were left off this list. They could have replaced a couple of those god awful screamer bands with the like of Darryl Braithwaite solo, The Presets and 30 Odd Foot Of Grunts that has Russel Crowe as a singer and also Rogue Traders.
As an Australian.... this list is insane and 100% the persons own opinion. Birds Of Tokyo so far down? And I'm so over people skipping over the Panics. One of the countries most talented bands
Well this video is one person's opinion, I like many others might disagree with the order or some songs chosen (but we didn't make a video ourselves). I will give credit to this video that it showed a good cross section of what music is available in Australia, and yes some won't be to your liking, that's ok, there are plenty of other bands for you to choose from, the really best bit about Australia's music scene is the variety of music to listen too, there's bound to be many you like, and indeed Mikey you did seem to enjoy more than you didn't like, no one expects you to like everything, that's why we have choice 👍
A lot of people outside of Australia are completely unfamiliar with a genre & period of time in the 70's, 80's & 90's which is "Aussie Pub Rock". Dive into that rabbit hole and see where it takes you. ;-)
I note your reaction to most post 1990’s groups was nowhere as positive as the pre-90’s. And that is no surprise, even though many of the pre-90’s weren’t showcasing their best numbers!
King Gizzard and the Wizard Lizard are a current day band...give them a listen they release a new album every 6months it seems. They explore different styles of music.. They are great.. Rattlesnake was the name of the song on your list.some. good live stuff on you tube aswell..
Just a run down one the first group, the Cockroaches, after they broke up the guitarists and piano player had a change of audience and became the biggest band in the world the Wiggles they're of course Anthony the blue wiggle and Jeff the purple wiggle the lead singer of the Cockroaches Anthony's brother was also Captain Feather Sword.
Gees Never heard of more tham half of these. Not sure how Farnsey and Jimmy were so far down the list. And interesting that 90% of the top 40 where from the 80's. We sure had the best music in the 80's. Few artists that are missing Guy Sebastian Tesky Brothers Vanessa Amorosi Bee Gee Pete Murray Tina Arena Bernard Fannin The Whitlams Hunters and Collectors Southern Sons Deisel and the Injectors
A lot of those songs weren't necessarily the best songs from the various artists. Wish they didn't cut them too quick, but a plus, for the ones I didn't like it was too long
Not a huge fan of the thrash-scream stuff either. Sometimes the complete song can be better than the sample, but it's not my style in general. Two that wasn't on there that was a bit surprising were "The Beejees" and the "The Warumpi Band" (Original singers of "My Island Home).
Thank you for appreciating our Australian musicians Mike. Unfortunately, even as an Australian follower of our local music and musicians I have not hard of 35% - 40% of these bands. Many are just noise and not musical. This list is obviously slanted to the taste of the compiler as many of these acts should be placed much higher, and others much further down the list.
Funny thing about this video. The good songs are too short and the crap ones are too long. It could have like having teeth pulled if that trash metal had played any longer. Here is a one hit wonder song for you to listen to, by Jimmy and the boys. th-cam.com/video/dqU3vhfsEyQ/w-d-xo.html Worth a watch big Fella keep up the good work.
It would have been nicer if the songs played a little longer. I think this is a video more about what this person believes is top Aussie music and I cringed a few times if Im honest. I live in Australia and have a music channel and I haven't heard of half these bands and I don't think this really highlights the true talent in this country. There are so many top bands not listed here.
Who in the hell put that together obviously someone from a recent generation. Just confirmed what I've always said all the best music ended in the early 90's and we've produced garbage since.
Sorry, this list is not so good. I thought there were way better songs for most groups. You had thumbs down for Riptide. This song is still played all the time when I go out and I love dancing to it. The Easybeats were iconic and very much loved. I hate all the metal stuff. Daryl Braithwaite and The Presets, Guy Sebastion to name a few huge icons in our country!!
I'm Australian, and I've only heard about 40 of these artists.
Same
Am I dead? My life just flashed before my eyes.
In my opinion the most important Aussie band was the Easybeats. They were leaders in the industry. I'm with you on the noise. How anyone listens to it is beyond me. That’s more of my taste
I'm an Aussie and i haven't heard alot of these bands/songs and I'm glad i didnt!! I was a teenager in the 80's so they are my absolute favourites.
Good afternoon Mike, that was beautiful. Thank you so much for giving Australian musicians a go. Always appreciate your reactions .But to be honest I like the music my parents played ie Queen Dire Straits Cold Chisel Jackson Browne etc

I doubt I've heard of half of these artists, let alone songs.
@@ownyourcrazy8734
I just Re listened to this as it just popped up. Still have no idea of most of these songs 🤔
@@ownyourcrazy8734
I tried looking for the original. Found it - this account no longer exists lol. Someone made that list up and ran lol
Good list there, not sure who you have covered at this stage, but HOODOO GURUS and also ICEHOUSE, MONDO ROCK, just to suggest a few others for you, all the best to you.

You need to listed to each one of the non screaming bands and do a reaction.
Never heard of most, but I am old!😂 I only recognise about 15. I was pulling faces like you.🤪
If this is all we have to offer…. God help us! 😂🥲
Some fab bands here
The metal stuff my son would appreciate. The '75 to '89 is my stuff.
He liked sunkloto & superhiest which is alternative metal
Billy Thorpe and the Aztecs' really great a must listen. Also Icehouse is a great band (formally known as flowers) lots of great hits
Killing Heidi! Frente! Missy Higgins! Grinspoon! Eskimo Joe! Choirboys! The Angels! Skyhooks! Moving Pictures! Masters Apprentices! Daddy Cool! Baby Animals! Stevie Wright! Billy Thorpe/Aztecs! The Veronica's! Wolfmother! Natalie Umbrulia! Boom Crash Opera! Darryl Braithwaite! Sarah Blasko! Ian Moss! JB! ⭐ Models! LRB! Cold Chisel! 🙋 Noiseworks! Goanna! Paul Kelly! Crowded House! Divinyls! Icehouse! INXS! Bon Scott/AC/DC epic win! ❤️👏 I don't think you have reviewed Baby Animals!? 😁
Mate midnight oil, saints, cold chisel, angels, AC DC , Billy Thorpe, easybeats, living end, rose tattoo, Divinyls, Dragon, INXS, lobby loyde , just to name a few
I had no idea some of these were Aussies. Wow, we have more influence than I thought in the USA music market.
Interesting list. They didnt miss many. They did however choose some poor songs to represent some great bands. Some i wasnt fond of either lol.
No 150 some of them became the Wiggles lol
I noticed a couple of bands that were left off this list. They could have replaced a couple of those god awful screamer bands with the like of Darryl Braithwaite solo, The Presets and 30 Odd Foot Of Grunts that has Russel Crowe as a singer and also Rogue Traders.
Yeah, there were some strange songs in there.
As an Australian.... this list is insane and 100% the persons own opinion. Birds Of Tokyo so far down?
And I'm so over people skipping over the Panics. One of the countries most talented bands
I didn't have sound on but l noticed you were boping more to the 80s stuff...
What no Def Fx ?
Well this video is one person's opinion, I like many others might disagree with the order or some songs chosen (but we didn't make a video ourselves).

Love acdc and the choir boys and the seekers. I hate to days music with a passion 70s and 80s were the best
JOHN FARNHAM IS THE GREATEST AUSSIE ARTIST EVER AND THE BEST LIVE VOCALIST THERE EVER WAS
A lot of people outside of Australia are completely unfamiliar with a genre & period of time in the 70's, 80's & 90's which is "Aussie Pub Rock". Dive into that rabbit hole and see where it takes you. ;-)
Some were Trying to Copy Scandinavian music 17:34
I note your reaction to most post 1990’s groups was nowhere as positive as the pre-90’s. And that is no surprise, even though many of the pre-90’s weren’t showcasing their best numbers!
Lot better Australian artists out there
They missed Bee gees and Kevin, I think you will like TISM and Boom Crash Opera, not quality maybe but fun.
King Gizzard and the Wizard Lizard are a current day band...give them a listen they release a new album every 6months it seems. They explore different styles of music.. They are great.. Rattlesnake was the name of the song on your list.some. good live stuff on you tube aswell..
It was quite the mix and clearly not in any order that i can understand lol, oh and some of the thumbs down was some of the best music!
Barn in AU and never heard of 99 percent of these song, and glad I have not.
Pick 75 obscure bands, mix them with 75 popular bands, put them in some completely random order, voila - this countdown.
Big feller. Run to Paradise is about heroin addiction. Such an upbeat song considering the content.Aussie classic.
Hey Mike. You might know the Cockroaches as The Wiggles now!!
they didn’t pick the best track from many of these bands. we need an extended video with more than 5 seconds grabs
its a good compilation but it sucks that there's literally only 2 seconds of each song so you dont get to actually experience any of them
If it’s any consolation Mikey I didn’t know at least a third of that stuff. Wtf. With that crap. Who did this complication? 😂
I hope that wasn't in order of popularity, half of them I've never heard of, I mean to say, Mentals, JPY, Thorpie down near the bottom.

Guy Sebastian

The Whitlams

Deisel and the Injectors
A lot of those songs weren't necessarily the best songs from the various artists. Wish they didn't cut them too quick, but a plus, for the ones I didn't like it was too long
surprised khe sahn wasnt 1st
Kyle Minogue? Bee Gees? Rick Price?
If you haven't already, you should check out Choirboys. they were way too far down on this list!!
Not a huge fan of the thrash-scream stuff either. Sometimes the complete song can be better than the sample, but it's not my style in general.
Two that wasn't on there that was a bit surprising were "The Beejees" and the "The Warumpi Band" (Original singers of "My Island Home).
Im Aussie and i dont even recognise some of these songs
This music is crap where has Aussie music gone
I am heavy duty Aussie and know about 20% of these. Terrible.
Lmao, Crowded House is a NZ band, not Australian
Geez they scraped the bottom of the septic tank for this list. I wouldn't have 90% of the bands on this lost in the top anything.
He liked sunkloto , superhiest & butterfly effect I've been a fan since a child
The top 50 would have been a better option. There's a lot of dead wood in there.
I doubt these were the top 150 of all time. Certainly a wide selection. Not a lot of pop music touched upon and Australia does have some of those too.
There's a lot of s&$% in this list! I'm Australian and I've only heard about half of these bands/singers!
Funny thing about this video. The good songs are too short and the crap ones are too long.

Thrash stuff sucked
Some strange selection. A lot of music never heard of.
If you're really good, there's no need to coerce viewers to subscribe.
Im Australian and most of these are disappointing and I only knew about half
of them
My goodness some of those bands are hard to listen to!!
As an Australian, there was a lot of crap in that list with better artists omitted.
Geez they scraped the bottom of the septic tank for this list. I wouldn't have 90% of the bands on this lost in the top anything.
