@danielecampolo2203 I am a Rangers fan from a boy to man. My mum was Catholic and a celtic fan. She died at 37 of cancer. Its great to see true fans putting religion aside for true human beings. Like Davie cooper and Tommy burns. Glasgow is not Glasgow without Rangers and Celtic.
Coming from the guy who used to noise me up at work in Celtic park when I was corporate bar supervisor calling me "Gaffer & Boss" I'll never forget the day going into Celtic park to do the shift rota,I'll never forget the feeling of huge loss and the emptiness that surrounded me in Celtic park! That was one day I didn't want to go and set up staff shifts! You'll never be forgotten by me and the daily laughs we had together! God bless you "Gaffer"! YNWA💚
I watched and listened to this at work today:( omg it was so hard trying to hold it together when i wanted to do was cry because even though i did not know Tommy Burns personally it was what he ment to Celtic and Scotland that made my heart ach for this family friends and all the lives he touched it still guts me right now writting this but my one comfort is knowing he will be watching over us with the rest of the bhoys from up above in Paradise. We love you Mr Burns always and forever xxx
God bless Tommy Burns. A very nice guy and a man of faith in the living God. How wonderful that he brought together Celtic and Rangers people who would normally not speak with each other.
What a special day, for a special man. An example to all in how to live our lives with respect, understanding and forgiveness for others. I pray that the example he set helps to soften a few hearts, and that an era of mutual respect, results in a living memorial to Tommy. May Mother Mary wrap you in her arms and carry you through the gates of Paradise, to the reward you so richly deserve.
In the world we live in, there is no room for bigotry and hatred. It is unfortunate that it takes the loss of a great man to bridge the protestant catholic gap amongst us. Forever will you be in our hearts tommy burns.
All these people that are disrespectful should grow up. I wasn't a celtic supporter but to every person that passes on it's sad there is no need to have bad comments if it was a member of your family and someone said that you wouldn't be happy R.I.P and i hope that people will be more respectful or keep your opinoun to yourself
from soho st where he began his story,to a trophy winner, many times, but not one to take the glory. he was loved by so many and gave so much too, always took the time to ask "how are you?" a long career with celtic, then for the hoops he played no more, he left us with a smile, but was soon back through the door. this time as gaffer when still he seemed so young, playing games the celtic way,it seemed he'd only just begun.
it all turned full circle in charge of the youth put to the test, future celtic players who where learning from the best, now soho st is gone,so sadly is this man, and i try to write the memories for every celtic fan, football faith and family throughout his life it ran, it's time to close but don't forget.... goodnight, god bless you "tam".......PLEASE START AT OTHER END AND READ BACK THE WAY! this was written by my brother JOE O ROURKE; he used to play football with tommy when he was a boy.......
from soho st he walked to work each day, up the road tae paradise where the glasgow celtic play, learning an apprenticeship that would only lead to joy,he was 19 and a substitute in the hoops a celtic boy. while oan the pitch the fiery red head number 10,then back at hame a family man and a loving friend, at st mary's each week with his faith still going strong, he'd go oot with his mates singing " mack the knife" that was his song!
a soho st boy became the pride of mile end and to the folk of the calton would always be a friend, never a bad word when a good deed would do, with a prayer or a thought for the less fortunate too, from soho st the place it all began, doon the gallowgate and oan the gravie he ran at st mary's guild a grand old fitbaw team he nurtured his faith and achieved his dream.
Seeing Walter and Ally so upset and brave yesterday, coupled with the many scores of Gers fans who turned up to pay condolences, has made me re-evaluate my attitudes towards Rangers. At least, for me,there is a new day dawning!I feel cured of my deep-seated resentment and disdain towards the rangers establishment which has always been part of me.
It is unfortuante but there will always be a minority who know no better than to draw attention to themselves with vile comments. Tommy Burns, thank you for having shown us decency and passion in a city where blue and green have been divided by hatred. We can overcome hatred, bigotry and plain simple stupidity of the kind demonstrated by GrimReaper.
Fair play to Ally and Walter. Warms your heart to see both sides of the old firm putting religion and football aside to celebrate the life of a man who valued people for who they were, not the shirt they wore or religious background.
God rest ur soul Tommy Burns. a true gentleman. and a true Celtic man and fan. a boy that lived the dream. Ynwa HH Tommy bhoy. RIP. our loss is heavens gain. and wee jinky waits fir u up there. and big jock Stein too. uz will be playing for gods 11. Phil O Donnell too. and Davie Cooper. what a team god has. love u tommy bhoy. RIP
Rangers fan in peace, never walk alone Tommy, god bless. Footballs football, i hope rangers win the league tomorrow, but this season with O'Donnel and Burns has really galvanised Scottish football fans, not sectarians, We Are the People, but Tommy was the best around
Brilliant! Of all the things I called you, the one that offended you most was being called an orangeman!(the only one you objected to) Wonderful! I really could't make you up!
Would just like to applaud bvcfdsa for his comments. "no surrender" to muppets like jimtorbett. Must be awful lonely being that full of hate. Hail Hail Ally and Walter. RIP Tommy
Maybe Tommys passing will act as a cataylist for the sectarianism to cease between our sets of supporters.............we can live in hope! Rest in peace,Tommy.
To all those who have been disgusted, as I have, by the many comments from "jimtorbett" which have desecrated these pages. -I want to recommend that you go to the comments on the "Vennegoor and Lennon singing Fields" video, and see him demolished, and exposed for what he is.
Nothing closet about me Jimbo. I am a republican but not in the Kalashnikov-balaclava wearing Bobby Sands MP type you have in mind. Never been to Ireland, never felt the urge to go. We've an unelected head of state of our democracy. A glaring contradiction if you ask me. But never going to win with you am I? You're too far gone, hatred wise. I'll let you get back to defacing a chapel
What part of your culture is being denied to you Jim? We live in a secular society where all religions are tolerated and even embraced. As I can gather you are a scottish practising protestant. What bastion of our society holds you back? Please help me understand. Who or what persecutes you and curtails your civil liberties? Please articulate how I, as a catholic, do that? And remember we are both christian. I don't hate you.
God Jim for somebody who hates catholics you fair go on about them. Jist ignore them, they'll no' hurt ye. Anyway can't believe you're soiling your "proud proddy pinkies" by writing comment on such a vile page. I take it you do go to church every Sunday and are a Christian? And I'm not sure if you made it clear in all your posting but could you tell me....did Big Jock know? He did?!?!?
He's also ignorant of the fact that some Celtic fans do bring Saltires to parkhead and there were a number on view in Seville- not bad considwering its colours are blue and white! The Saltire is a proud symbol of Scottish Independence.
"The gallowgate is nowhere near St Marys. It's about 16 miles north..." *** Cumbernauld is about 16 miles from Glasgow. The Calton is in the East End of Glasgow, on the doorstep virtually of Celtic Park.
St Mary's church is in the Calton. And only a very short distance from the gallowgate. Both are in Glasgow. What planet are u on. You obviously have not a clue about what you think u know. St Mary's is NOT in Cumbernauld. U fool. and further more. St Mary's is the spiritual home of Glasgow Celtic. As that's were brother walfrid started Celtic football club. You know nothing of what u say. So pls do ur homework before u talk pure shit.

Or the vast majority of right minded fans. Just coz ur a Celtic fan doesn't give you the final say on who can say things out of respect for the great man. Get a fuckin life ffs
