As an Englishman, my heart was warmed by the send-off that the Scots gave to her. She is on record as hoping that she died in Scotland, and I'm glad she got her wish.
Her mother was a Scot, and she always loved her mother's homeland and those things that Scotland is known for. She had a piper from the army wake her every day, and when his wife came down with terminal cancer, she had her doctors give the wife the best care that she could. Folks forget she is descended from the Scottish royal line, as well as the English. Flowers of the Forest always gets to me. The Scots sure do know how to mourn.
I believe that everyone in Scotland should realize and remember that Her Majesty chose to spend her final days there and to die there because she love Scotland so much. I thank them all for the honor, love, and respect they showed her. I couldn't be prouder of my Scottish and English heritage than now.
@conniehopkins6105 you don't know that our late Queen knew that her final days would be spent in Scotland, there is always a plan for if the Sovereign dies in Scotland or at Sandringham
She was the first monarch to die in Scotland since James V in the 1500s. Scotland may not be as fond of the monarchy as England is, but we were still saddened by her passing. Balmoral Castle was her favourite place in the world and it makes me glad that she died peacefully in a place that she loved, where she could relax and unwind and not be bothered by being the queen. Scotland shall likely never know another queen. Goodbye, Your Majesty.
Queen Elizabeth II is a direct descendent of Mary Queen of Scots and James I and V. She was the Queen of Scots whether anti-monarchists like it or not. Most are heartbroken she’s gone. Magnificent send-off from Scotland. 🏴
I am from Uruguay, 84. We woke here at 0700 hrs to see HM QE II funeral on BBC TV. A most impressive event in all aspects. I saw the Queen in person at the Epsom Derby Stakes back in 1961 while I was visiting the UK, she was 35, and I was 22 then....
She did indeed love Scotland and - on a lighter note - chose to spend her holidays there during the months when many Scots go abroad for hot, dry weather! Some Scots have questioned the Queen's “Scottishness” but in fact she is related to Mary Queen of Scots via Henry VIII's sister Queen Margaret of Scotland, grandmother of Mary. Queen Margaret (Tudor) was the mother of Mary's father James V (1512-1542), whose crown was placed on the Queen's coffin on Monday afternoon during this service by the Duke of Hamilton Furthermore, according to National Records of Scotland, the Queen’s parents shared Robert II King of Scots as a common ancestor. Through her mother’s family, the Bowes-Lyons, Earls of Strathmore, she could trace her ancestry back through generations of Scottish nobility to Sir John Lyon, Thane of Glamis, who married Robert II’s daughter in the fourteenth century.
Lady Diana's service was beautiful and poignant as well. God doesn't take the death of his saints lightly, I was reading in the Holy Bible just the other day. Jesus died for all of us. What an honor to be chosen the carry the Queen, a very sad day for the UK.
Although I am an American, part of my heritage is Scotch- English. I admired the Queen. Her grace, discipline, and devotion to her country were so worthy of admiration
I LOVE SCOTLAND 🏴 !! I hope to visit before I leave this world !!
So you should. Scotland is a magical land. As an 'american-born' Scot, I went Home to Scotland for the first time in 2015. I left my heart in Scotland.
@@bjoeljones ….my ANCESTRY is primarily Scottish, so I really want to see where my ancestors are from
@billlee536 , if you know where your ancients were from, try spending as much time as you can in those areas, providing you have the extra time. My ancients were from all over Scotland, but I/we could only fit so much in during our fortnight (two week) tour. At least I was able to spend a couple nights on Skye where my mum+'s paternal family originated. Good luck. All the best. Slàinte Mhath
@@billlee536 I hope you do too. As a Scotsman, I can assure you we would welcome your homecoming with open arms. We have a beautiful country, rich with history and heritage just waiting for you to explore. It would be fasciinating for you to visit the place your ancestors camme from, do you know where about the location was? I may be able to give you a few visiting tips!
Long may our traditions prevail. Our culture, our honor our dignity.
She reined with dignity, grace, equality and majestic beauty, no finer English rose, cared for by her people. With her she took a part of every citizen of the Commonwealth, no monarch touched so many lives for such a long time. Thank you your Majesty for your service to us and now, may you rest with your beloved Prince.
HM our late Queen was not an English rose get your facts right it was Scotland she loved and unlike most of the royal family with the exception of HM King Charles III AND Princess Anne sge/they identify with Scotland. HM Queen Elizabeth was our Queen, and she choose to spend rest of her days in her beloved Scotland ❤
@@stevenleppard1072Stop these words of division. We are the United Kingdom, the most successful Union ever.
@thetruthisoutthere2076 I am entitled to my opinion, so shut your mouth. Its a union dominated and dictated by one part not equal.. are you trying to take away free speech . Clearly, you don't like others to hold a different view to yours. Well to bad
@thetruthisoutthere2076 furthermore I sm speaking the truth our late Queen frequently spoke of her deep affection for and of Scotland . HM was of Scyyush descent on both sides, and she died in her beloved Scotland Facts. Get over it any with reality and keep your pathetic comments yo yourself your boring us all zzzzzzzzz
@@stevenleppard1072 First thing, in the phrase “well to bad” should be “well TOO bad” watch your grammar.Secondly, by telling me to”shut my mouth” it is you who is denying the right to free speech. We live in a democracy where everyone is entitled to an opinion. By your comments you present yourself as a very bitter person who would rather have us live in an autocracy rather than a democracy.
i still tear up many months later at seeing this. Our most gracious and beloved Elizabeth. The commentator is right about the young men who carried her. They did a superb job under what i would imagine was a very stressful situation. Well done.
What a great honour for those young men!
Oh how we miss her 🏴 Queen of the Scots….. God save the King 🏴🇬🇧
She has passed on her love of Scotland to her son, I think Charles would be perfectly happy just being King of Scots.
This brings tears to my eyes every time I hear Flowers of the Forest. An amazing Lady.
As British person living in the SW of England,I was very proud of the Scottish send off.
As I have Grandchildren and friends living in Scotland.
She knew her time had come and she picked the one place she always felt at home Balmoral a place she was made by the local people an ordinary loved local a place the local people will never forget her
GOD save and keep her . Long live the King !
I'll never not cry at bagpipes playing. Dunno what it is but the minute i hear a bagpipe im crying 😢
What an honourable and heartfelt farewell for The Queen of Scots. Still seeply moving even after almost year. Alister Bruce's voice, and the silence of the crowds said ot all.
Such good looking young men. They did the job beyond reproach.
