26 October 2021. Today Walter Smith died. I had to view this film as so many Celtic fans are offering heartfelt condolences on Walter's death. Through respect and admiration for Tommy Burns and Walter Smith we put aside our 'differences' and remember and celebrate the lives of both Gentlemen. Rest in Peace Tommy and Walter. Glasgow United. A Rangers fan.
Tommy was my hero since I was a wee boy. Walter was a legend. I met walter once at a Bon jovi concert in glasgow - he was gent. Both legends. Both examples of brilliance as people and as ambassadors for the beautiful game.
Walter and Tommy were great friends and very close during their respective careers, two great men sadly missed who were vital to Scottish football in their careers, RIP to two legends 🔴⚪🔵🇬🇧🇮🇪🐻🍀
Tommy burns will always have a respect from the real rangers fans mate he loved glasgow celtic he was a gentleman and he will never be forgotten football aside that day he a legend 💚💙
Just watched Walter's procession go past Ibrox and it fills my heart seeing the love for him from both sides. It makes me feel bad for every rotten thing I've ever said about Celtic, their club and support. This is what it's all about.
I worked in Tenerife in the early 90s as a young man, in bars, touting etc. Tommy used to holiday there with his family and I met him when I was poncing about on the streets. He spoke to me and we had a laugh. A year later he was back and came up to me, remembered my name and asked how I was etc. I was made up. I saw him every year for the five years I was there and he always remembered me. Top man. I actually had a drink with him and Alex McLeish one night, not many can say they had a drink with two future Old Firm managers together. Both terrific guys. RIP Tommy
Had to come back to this video as yesterday Walter Smith passed away & just the fact that he carried Tommy’s coffin into the church shows what type of man he was. And I just hope that every other celtic fan including myself can show him the respect he showed Tommy. Incredible gesture from him 💚💙
The fans word 💚💚💚, was too young to ever have seen him play , but have watched so many clips of him with Celtic Scotland Kilmarnock, player and manager , his back step with his private life , family , a proper Celtic man , a Celtic Icon I never seen play but one I have on my jersey , Tommy twists 💚🇮🇪
I worked at Celtic park as a chef in the restaurants for 3 years my first job when I left high school I played football for a few boys clubs when I was younger and first time I met Tommy burns he introduced himself and used to always speak to me always ask who I was playing that week and would always stand and have a chat for a few mins and always a laugh football a side the guy was such a nice person I spoke to him the day before he passed and can honestly say he is one of the nicest most genuine and good hearted people I've met god bless .
I come back to this video every now and again and it breaks my heart , I still can’t believe tommys not here a true Celtic legend I could see the pain in billy stark when he was talking☘️☘️💚💚💚
The saddest part of life is the person who gave you the best memories become a memory rest in peace to two absolute gentlemen of football Tommy & Walter. 🇬🇧 🇮🇪
The worst part about losing a loved one is never hearing that voice again,my thoughts go out to the friends and family of Tommy and Walter, sorry for your loss, chin up ally ,
I am life long Rangers fan follow follow but Tommy was such a special person I wore Celtic top out of respect of a great man called Tommy Burns. Tommy if you can hear "we from different sides of Glasgow divided but t respect for you is never ending.
Tommy burns had the most friendliest smile one could have, there wasn't a touch of meaness in his eyes too, if we had men like him in power in this world there would be no wars
A great goal scorer, for rangers,a fantastic manager, Walter,,, and tommy a Celtic legend,,, three men who truly respected each other, out with the cauldron of the old firm,,, I am sure Tommy & Walter are still having a good laugh up there,,
Lovely family man and great icon for celtic. Also fair play to Walter Smith and Ally McCoist for showing that there's more to football ....humanity good guys
Tommy Burns was a very nice person. A man of faith in God and a brilliant left foot. I remember writing once to Tommy while the manager of Celtic, and he wrote back thanking me for my kind words of encouragement. God rest your soul.
For me personally as a Celtic fan coming back here 10 years yesterday & watching this makes me as sad as I was as a 6 year old back in 2008, but Tommy was a one of a kind & once in a lifetime man who loved his faith, his Family & our club more than life it's self. Also got to give massive massive props to both Walter Smith & Ally McCoist for carrying Tommy's Coffin in to the chapel Ik as a Celtic fan I give both Walter & Ally a lot of Slack but nothing but Admiration for the 2 guys for what they done here. Tommy Burns you embody what it means to be a Celtic Man YNWA 🍀🍀🍀
Never heard anyone say a bad word about this man and as a blue nose I say this through gritted teeth but celtic played some great fitba when he was the Manager and he was unlucky not to have won more during his time in charge. R.I.P Tommy
Sadly it takes the passing of a human being to remind everyone we are all human and should be respectful to each other no matter what race or religion etc. we are... Puts things into perspective and shows that in the end football and rivalries do not matter. Be kind to one another and RIP Mr. Burns
Both celtic and rangers are enemys on the pitch...but off it they have the utmost respect for each other this was shown when tommys family asked walter and ally if they would carry his coffin RIP tommy
I loved Tommy Burns,i met him a few times in my life and he was a true and proper gentleman,he was definitely one of my idols growing up and he still is!!!! God Bless Mr Celtic Rest In Peace Tam !!!
As a Rangers fan I'm just glad to see and hear the respect that we all have for each other. It's all in there deep inside every one of us no matter how much we wanted to win, Tommy never said a bad word about my team. R_I_P Tommy.
it puts all the madness into perspective when you see two Rangers legends carrying their heart on their sleeve to show their final respect to a Celtic Legend. We fans love all the banter, but it really isn't that important when you see the emotions of normal men, but heroes to thousands, reduced to tears because they have lost their close friend. I'd show this video to both sides of the divide to show them that bigotry and sectarionism is garbage when it comes to living and dying! -a Rangers fan
I had the honour of meeting Tommy and talking to him about football. He was one of the best managers and players that my club, Kilmarnock and I'm not ashamed to say that there is a tear in my eye now. RIP Tommy. God bless you.

I was a first aider at Parkhead on the day of Tommy Burns funeral. I arrived at 8am on the day of the funeral and by around 10 am, you could not move at Parkhead. That just shows the level of emotion that all fans showed towards Tommy. He was a legend and will always be a legend. RIP Tommy - You will be missed.
Thanks for posting. The fact that Walter Smith & Coisty were willing to carry his coffin into the church, I think is testament to the man he was, that his funeral can be used to transcend bigotry. I too applaud them for doing it, but also his wife & family for allowing such a personal tragedy to be used for a greater good. God bless you all. RIP Tommy.
Why would anyone dislike this tribute to a Great man. He bridged the sectarian divide in this city. loved by Both sets of fans. at least the true ones. HH Tommy bhoy. YNWA
I had never realised that it was in fact Tommy Burns' wife who wanted Walter Smith & Ally McCoist to help carry his coffin. But as far as the family were concerned Walter and Ally were just 2 friends of Tommy's and therefore of the family. The exact way it should be.🤝🙏👏👍
