I have had Rheumatoid Arthritis for 43 years.
I was a young teenager when we found out.
Autoimmune diseases are tough but manageable. Sounds like your doctor is trying to find the right cocktail for your care and hopefully get it figured out soon. It takes awhile though.
Holistic approach helps but medication is needed to help fight your future bone, organs and muscles care.
Methotrexate is a good medicine to start with minimal side effects and can adjust the strengths for you.
Just remember to keep your body moving even if you are in severe pain , fingers especially.
Hang in there Brooke you got this. Just take one day at a time. You are a very strong woman.

All good info for RA. I’ve found also there are foods that trigger inflammation and foods that reduce inflammation.

When you said I'm not an addict, it put me in mind of an AA meeting when people stand up to speak and announce that they are an addict. It made me giggle just a little bit. You guys always take such good care of your babies. They get the best that you have to give. I'm glad your inflammation levels have come down & they have added additional doses of your medication.
It's heartwarming to watch you take such loving care of Capri and the other animals. I appreciate the health update, but please don't feel pressured to share more than you're comfortable. You have a right to privacy. ❤

At the rate that Farm Stand is going....you need a LOT more chicks! You guys ROCK and I think those chicks are priceless so whatever you paid.....they're worth it.
I laugh out loud when you said you were “not an addict” to getting chicks. With a farm stand you probably need 200 chickens to meet the needs of the community.

That should be a slogan. "I'm not an addict," lol, just because I bought another box of chicks. I do love the colors of the new babies and the egg color. Brooke, you are a good goat mom, taking care of Capri, making sure she is healthy. That makes you a great person, sensitive to the animals' needs. I'm glad you are improving on your health and getting more meds to help with the inflammation. Great video today.

As soon as Brooke mentioned Tractor Supply I started smiling - more baby chicks were definitely in the barn. And that is a beautiful thing! Capri will soon fill-in around her hips and be even more stunning. Brooke's health update was great news! There's an adjustment time factor re RX for each patient. Finding the correct balance can involve smaller doses all along in lieu of monthly treatments. It seems Brooke's Specialist is focused on listening to her, asking pertinent questions and constantly researching options. Communication is paramount. This was definitely a GOOD NEWS VIDEO!!!!
You take the best care of all the fur and feather babies at Cog Hill. Please give Capri an extra pet or two from me.

I'm on Methotrexate shots once a week. The pills made me so sick. That is a common side effect with the pill version. You may not have any issues. Hugs and prayers it helps. You guys are awesome for animals. ❤

I'm on Enbrel & Methotrexate. Make sure you have a VERY full belly when you take the Methotrexate!
brooke i was diagnosed in 2008 with rheumatoid arthritis and you are correct about the meds your body does become what i call immune to them from time to time and need to be switched up, the only advice i can give you is listen to your dr. and learn to give yourself grace on the days you "just Cant" i've learned that probably the hardest part of it is to depend on others when all your life you have always done things by yourself, well when your body is going through this, it is ok to just say "i cant today" accept the help, give yourself grace and know those helping you love you.
I have psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis and would agree 100%.

My daughter takes methotrexate for auto immune disorder. She has arthritis also . The medication has helped quit a bit . Good luck to you, sweetie ! ❤

You and Jason work so hard to keep up with the health of your animals I am glad your Doctor is giving you medicine to help you because you work hard so you need to feel good your animals are depending on you both and I am sure they want you feeling well
Brook, make sure you take a Folic Acid tablet the day after you take your Methotrexate. I started on Methotrexate tablets once a week, but now I’m on the injection as the tablet wasn’t working for me. The injection works so much better as it’s absorbed straight into the body, where the tablet has to go through the gut first.

When we showed dairy goats we used beet pulp and alfalfa pellets. Really helped to keep them looking good.

Brook both my mother and sister both take the same combination Humira & Methotrexate for RA and it has done wonders for them. Keep you hopes up you will feel better! ❤

I feel strongly modern doctors don’t address roots of problems. They love to prescribe big pharma. Sugar, white flour, seed oils, major inflammatory foods. Removing those, add in things like ginger, turmeric, lemon, black pepper- top for anti inflammatory!

You can make a Golden Milk by using these ingredients and instead of using cow's milk use coconut milk. Also, I drink goat's milk instead of cow's milk.

Totally agree Queen ... but watch out for the black pepper part. My body can't handle that, or cow's milk, onions, corn 'n' wheat ! Everybody is different.
that's so true and avoiding carrageenan if possible cause it's in most everything we love to eat and it causes inflammation, js.
Brooke, I’ve been on Humira every other week and Methotrexate weekly for over a decade. It’s worked very well. It took a while to find what worked for my body. The Rheumatologist will monitor your labs and adjust as needed. I’m very happy you are feeling a bit better. ❤

I love how caring you are for your animals. Chicks are adorable. This next spring, I need to get some new babies. However, they will have to live out in the coop. Could be interesting. They can't live in my house, and Dander hurts my lungs.
I know from the issues my mom went thru to not only get a dr to diagnose her Auto Immune disease , but also for them to find a treatment for it , just how much strain and emotion a person can go thru. Thank you for using your platform to share your story and to encourage others going thru this dreadful condition.

Many years ago I read in Prevention magazine about the nightshade family. They had a study group of folks that stayed totally off the nightshade family and some but inadvertently. Everyone has significant changes in there aggravation of the arthritis with listening there exposure to this particular family of vegetables and fruits. I made a mention of this to my daughter who has arthritis that goes with her psoriasis and she stated yes I've been eating a ton of bell peppers and oh that would stand to reason she had noticed a significant change recently in her arthritis. Also would like to share with everyone Dr Berg is a chiropractor that had his own share of health issues and now shares his knowledge with everyone on TH-cam.
It's wonderful how you keep on top of your animal health needs. I never knew farm animals have to have health checks and medicine for parasites so often. Capri will be looking good in a matter of time. I love the new chicks. They are adorable. The other chicks got big fast. ❤❤❤

I feel for Capri! When I was nursing my daughter i used to joke she was sucking the life out of me. I dropped down to 103 lbs. and I hadn't been that weight since I was a freshman in high school. Making milk takes a lot of calories! And yes I was eating all the time and still lost a lot of weight. I'm betting she'll bounce back with the extra calories you are giving her. I'm glad your dr visit went well. Or as well as can be expected. Love the new baby chicks!
