My friend is a pilot for West Jet and explained that the rule is not because cell phones affect the plane's avionics system like people seem to assume, rather it is because the phones (by design) are constantly emitting RF signals that create a distinct sound on the radio that the pilots are using to communicate. You have all heard this interference unless you're a luddite! An example: cordless phones often pick up the frequencies of a ringing cell phone nearby. It kind of sounds like a series of muted clicks. Sometimes you'll hear a hiss or popping coming out of a speaker when a cell or cordless phone is going off nearby....the sound is so common that chances are it's become like white noise for a lot of us. Other than it being annoying for the pilots, it is very possible that the interference can make it challenging to hear the directions from the tower in the event of an emergency. And when seconds count, a pilot doesn't always have the luxury to ask the tower to repeat (or vice versa)..the animated coolie boy even says in his video: emergencies are much more likely to take place during takeoffs and landings. I have no problem with any airline, what I must say my last trip leaving Guyana I was pulled aside all my luggage totally ransacked by a very rude Immigration woman who found nothing and then had the nerve to ask me for money. I let her do her job cuz I know there was a big drug problem.
The travel agent piece is not 100 percent accurate. Airlines give ticketing agencies discounts on certain seat categories ( segments in pricing )and you may actually get a better price booking with an agent.
Regarding the Cellular phone, its not one Phone that could possible cause a problem with the extremely sensitive navigation and radio equipment, its the use of multiple phones at the same time sending and receiving signals. Since there is no way to control or gauge the number of phones and usage then all phones in flight mode. However, the reason for not using the phone or headphones during takeoff and landing is to have you are fully focused and situationally aware, so that in an unfortunate event that things dont go as planned for takeoff or landing, you are alert and ready to jump into action. Believe it or not the crew depend heavily on passenger reactions.

Caribbean Airline have horrible service. first dont let your baggage be over weight even five pounds a 75 dollars charge gonna hit you. next thing they weight carry on bags for their international flights.it cant past 20 pounds I travel with Jetblue Delta and AA they never once weight my carry on bag. my worst ever experience with Caribbean Airlines was December 2014 on my Jamaica trip they flew into montego bay and we was suppose to be connected on another flight to kingston .these people put us on charter buses to finish our trip to Kingston..there were no plane to connect us to Kingston... that was the last time I travel with that airline and hopefuly never again.
