I work @ Barnes and Noble and a woman was checking out Foster by Claire Keegan and I said “oh I’ve seen this is so good!” And she said “same from my favorite booktuber!” And I asked who and she said “Jack Edwards!” And I said “HES MY FAVORITE TOO!” And we both fangirled! She said she trusts everything you recommend and I agree 😍🥰
this is so wholesome. moments like these make life so much more enjoyable!
aw i love that!
❤
I started reading Foster yesterday also because of Jack! !
I hope you've seen the film :)
Jack saying "Mayo and ketchup, not mixed, but together" like he is James Bond ordering a Martini
best comment ever
The foreshadowing Jack gave at the start of the video is insane, but im so hear for it
"Who the hell is choosing Zootopia," he says right as I was choosing Zootopia 😂. I got The Picture of Dorian Gray btw, which is the classic I was most interested in reading. All the more reason to get to it.
omg same 😂😂😂
Same 😂
I assumed zootopia would lead to animal farm. Is that too literal?
I was about to choose zootopia too
Same that took me outtt 😂
"Is it the castle or is it the rave" honestly sounds like a cool book title
or a show
those buzzfeed quizzes really do be spiraling you into existential dread 😭
Jack taking this so seriously is killing me hahahaha
The difficult choice between the rave and the castle is so real 😆
youre kind of like a bird in a way
i feel like he’s a blue bird
I was thinking goldfinch
i’m dying
I love how this is just written here
No explanation given
I think more of a robin?
the face you made after getting the same answer made me pause the video and literally burst out laughing 😆 buzzfeed truly does know you better than you know yourself at this point
“ The castle speaks to me…..” I DIED LAUGHING 💀💀💀💀💀
The way I immediately thought Pride and Prejudice when I read the title of the video and then Jack did not want that particular answer BUT then he ended up getting Pride and Prejudice sent me on a rollercoaster of emotions!!!!! Although I would like to reiterate that JACK EDWARDS IS TOTALLY JANE AUSTEN CODED!!!!!!
I both cannot believe he got Pride and Prejudice, but also am completely unsurprised... especially with how he opened this video! Incredible! 😂😂😂
Sheer joy when you put a pin in the Shakespeare retellings video! My PhD is in representations of disability in film adaptations of Shakespeare, so I am HERE for that video!
The opening line thing is WILDDDD
I need a Shakespeare video for my well being
YES PLEASE
I got one hundred years of solitude (incredible book) and the description it gave me is more accurate than anything/anyone has ever been when talking about me 😂
But don't marry your aunt!
Same. My favorite genre is magical realism, and I've been meaning to read this one
same!
Yes me as well!! I’m delighted
You totally should do the video on modern adaptations of Shakespeare plays!!! I dont know if this is confirmed but I think Mean Girls is a loose adaptation of Julius Caesar. I mean Gretchen practically repeats one of Cassius's lines verbatim.
They're reading it in class
Just casually dropping that castle story out of nowhere?? This Jack lore goes so hard
with that whole castle - uncle story you should be thankful that it didn't turn into saltburn fr
Haha LOVED this!!! With the opening LINE???!!!! And the retakes/existential crises 😂😂😂 loved loved loved this
I got In True Blood which I literally just finished 2 days ago!! Also Zootopia is a masterpiece, and I won't hear otherwise.
8:29 Can we all just take a moment to appreciate how stunningly beautiful Jack's eyes are? 😍
i came looking for this comment
@@martinamicallef7931 Hehe, Jack appreciation post!
Right???like green yellowish kind of color so pretty!!!
Report your quiz results here !
- I got "One Hundred Years of Solitude" which is hilarious since I have been avoiding it even though so many have said it's their favorite. I cannot get past about page 11 😅
"The Picture of Dorian Gray" by Oscar Wilde: Idk how to feel about it but it did shower me in compliments. I do know what my next read is going to be now.
I got "The Picture of Dorian Gray" one of the 3 books I'm currently reading (and hating Oscar Wilde's voice tbh- controversial i know) but it's kind of on the money- it's not my fault I'm so beautiful and talented lol/j
I got the same result! I attempted the book several times as well but can only get halfway through since the names of the characters are so similar that it becomes really difficult to remember who is who (I presume that's the author's intention?). Perhaps you could try some of Marquez's other works, which I find more approachable :)
I got pride and prejudice
I got The Picture of Dorian Gray too, wich i love, because its my favorite classic
I got In cold blood, read it this summer and absolutely loved it! and honestly the depiction is pretty accurate (kinda amazing in view of the questions aha)
I got that one too! I have it on my TBR but haven’t gotten around to reading it yet. I’m glad you loved it.
Same , adding it to my long ass never ending TBR
Not your Saltburn era with visitng your friend's castle in university.
LITERALLY
I got pride and prejudice both times picking different things ! I love the book but kind of weird that I got it twice
I got it three times choosing different answers
I got Truman Capote's "In Cold Blood" and while I haven't read the book (will do that asap), the description was so eerily accurate that I'm shook in my "I don't believe in all that stuff" convictions. It creally creeped me out.
"I need a personality transplant" is the most Libra statement ever lmao
Gotta admit I took it as well and now I have a new book in my TBR. A Hundred Years Of Solitude by García Marquez wasn't something I expected either hahaha
I know this has nothing to do with the theme of your video, but I am consistently in love with your library
Love this quiz! Looks like fun! 😊❤😊
“a personality transplant” 🤣🤣🤣
The chaos of this video!! loved it
My favourite Shakespeare retelling is 10 Things I hate About You. Which is a retelling of The Taming of the Shrew.
I chose Zootopia and got The Picture of Dorian Gray. I wouldn't pick any of the other besides Zootopia because I either haven't seen them since I was literally 5 at most, or I've never seen them. Zootopia is the only one I've seen in the last 15+ years
I did it too: "Othello" by Shakespeare
“You're attached to your work even though friendships are what bring you the most fulfillment. You feel like you have a duty to do good in the world even though technically you don't really owe the world anything. You're very trusting, sometimes to a fault. You're a natural-born leader, and people look to you for your excellent advice and support. Beware of those who are jealous of your success!” - That’s actually quiet fitting. 😅
YOU HAVE MADE ME A READER. PERIOD
retaking the quiz over and over to get a different answer is so funny... your delulu is showing 🥰 also the opening line thing blew my mind?? doomed by the narrative fr
The Shakespeaer retelling list sounds fascinating, please do that! :)
I’m glad I’m not the only one who retakes these quizzes 😂
I took the quiz twice with different opinions and I got Othello by Shakespeare each time! ❤
The difference between the picture of the field with the haybales and the other one is that the other one is a forest. Hard to see when it's so tiny, but forest or field is a significant difference
You should try the literary character quiz by open source psychometrics, it's scary accurate
I just took that quiz and it directed me to a movie character quiz and I got Dr. Sean Maguire from Good Will Hunting. Now I have to find the literary quiz
@@ashleehughes1194 it's the same one! You can filter the results in all sorts of ways, there's one for just classic lit
we need more buzzfeed quiz videos, jack
i got “One Hundred Years of Solitude” and its quite fitting lol
This was so funny 😂
I can't believe you got that answer even without choosing the castle
The fact that Jack started quoting Pride and Prejudice and ended that same sentence with Buzzfeed...
The intro is so damn relatable
In my Masters I had a class on Shakespeare adaptations in film and TV, and in the second year I had another class on Shakespeare opera adaptations
omg the Shakespeare retellings idea would be so good like west side story
Bridget Jones’ Diary. It fits. I see it. It’s an adaptation of Pride & Prejudice. Speaking of adaptations…
For your movie adaptations, don’t forget my favorites, Ten Things I Hate About You (Taming of the Shrew) & if you expand it outside of Shakespeare, She’s All That is Pygmalion (as well as My Fair Lady obvi) and most don’t realize Clueless is Austen’s Emma. She’s the Man is also Shakespeare’s 12th Night.
This is sooo funny!! I’m tearing up from laughter 😂😂😂😂
I got 100 years of solitude, a book that's not even on my TBR because I'm pretty sure I'd hate it.
This is so weird because i got The Picture of Dorian Gray while giving completely different answers than the ones you gave in your last quizz 😆
I took the quiz and got In Cold Blood by Truman Capote so have added it to my tbr! I am intrigued how they decide the answer, and whether it is just based off what genre you pick basically
I love how all of the Lion King movies are inspired by plays:
The Lion King- Hamlet
The Lion King 2- Romeo and Juliet
The Lion King 3- Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead
That was so funny
"I hope i dont get pride and prejudice" famous last words 😂
I actually got "The Picture of Dorian Gray"... which I read in October for the first time and loveeed. The description described me perfectly😍Thanks Jack for always making me laugh🤣💕
Yess please do a video about shakespeare retellings (it blew my mind when i found out 10 things i hate about you is based on taming of the shrew)
For your Shakespeare video: My Own Private Idaho (1991 starring Keanu Reeves and River Phoenix) is a modern retelling of Henry the IV: part 1.
I got In Cold Blood by Truman Capote. It's too gruesome for me, but I did see the movie a while back. And the explanation was so on point: "you like to bake bread, you are curious, you should be an investigation reporter, you like facts" and I'm like yes, yes, yes:))) So, maybe buzzfeed does know more about us lol
Love the retaking because you didn't want pride and prejudice
i VERY confidently, out loud said "historical fiction"
I got One Hundred Years of Solitude by Gabriel García Márquez. Interesting cause I have not read it yet. You starting the video with the first line from pride and prejudice was really..something. I'm in awe of how can something like this happen lol
Fyi: the castle is Neuschwanstein Castle in Germany, which just missed becoming a wonder of the world as it was voted on the eighth place
This was awesome!
"Who the hell is picking zootopia"
*me who was between tangled and zootopia" : uh....
Haven’t watched yet but based on the title I’m guessing a Charles Dickens novel lol
Definitely the Shakespeare Vlog!! I can't wait!
I just did the BuzzFeed quiz as well and I got 'One Hundred Years of Solitude' Gabriel García Márquez lol
For your Shakespeare movie retelling video: Lion King (Hamlet), West Side Story (Romeo and Juliet), 10 Things I Hate About You (The Taming of the Shrew), Anyone But You (Much Ado About Nothing)
These are just the ones I thought of off the top of my head, obviously I’m sure there are more
can you please make a - end of the year tbr - video
To be completely honest I had similar responses to the quiz, but I got "In Cold Blood" by Truman Capote.. and that result was SO spot on.. I think I only choose a different colour and probably a different sky?
I've got the same one, but barely any of our answers were the same lol
I got "The Picture of Dorian Gray" by Oscar Wilde
"You're BEAUTIFUL, and you know it. You're also introspective and have a strong conscience. You could definitely be a heartbreaker if you tried. You're a person of many talents and virtues, but you tend to value youth and beauty most of all. Maybe a word of advice: if someone offers to entrap your true face in a portrait, maybe just don't look at it?"
jfc just call me a vain bitch and let me LIVE
I had all different answers from you and also got pride and prejudice😭
I got "One hundred years of solitude" after choosing fantasy and strawberries. I have no idea what the connection is but I don't hate it😅
i took this alongside you and was genuinely peeved by getting pride and prejudice as well, even though we gave different answers😢
"I need a personality transplant"😂
“I need a personality transplant”😂😅😂so good!😂
As someone who's never read a classic before, I got One Hundred Years of Solitude please psychoanalyse me
Just did the quiz. I´ve got 100 years of solitude. The last line was "please don´t marry your aunt"
I got one hundred years of solitude and description was weirdly kinda accurate what's going on??😂
The exact reason I would avoid selecting a castle is not to get any classics. But Jack selected Rave and still got Pride and Prejudice 😂😂
I don't know about the choice of Pride and Prejudice itself, but the personality description that went with it sounds spot on.😂
your eyes were eye-ing in this video
I always felt like he was written by jane austen, so this kinda makes sense honestly.
1st question I go “oh tangled or zootopia for sure”
jack “now who the hell is choosing zootopia”
me: oh nvm…
If you want Shakespeare retellings, check out the Hogarth Shakespeare Series, where modern authors each take on a different shakespeare play. Margaret Atwood took on The Tempest with her book Hag-Seed, Jeanette Winterson took on The Winter's Tale with her book The Gap of Time, and so on.
Your answers screamed Great Gatsby to me personally
I took the same quiz and got Pride and Prejudice. I answered very few of the questions the same way as you.
I took it twice, because I was between two answers in many of the questions. "In Cold Blood" and "Pride and Prejudice". Seriously...
I realized that Jack is also reading the Virgin Suicide. My life is fulfilled.
Yesss to the shakespeare retellings video! There are so many!
Squarespace and jack are relationship goals, if only mine lasted as much as theirs
this video is golden
Got Pride and Prejudice too though none of my answers matched yours.. but i’m happy about it
this was so funny, and fun fact, I also got p&p twice, then changed my answers and got Dorian.
Shakespeare retellings via film would be GREAT! Lion King, 10 Things I Hate About You, and so many more!
We got Picture of Dorian Gray (not the answers you gave to get it) but didn't love the description for it-implied we're vain & we almost couldn't care less.
