    In case you wondered what Michael Jackson thought of Weird Al's parodies, he actually shares a writing credit on this song with Al - the only time Al collaborated with the original artist. Michael thoroughly enjoyed Al's parodies and the only song he declined permission when Al asked was "Black or White" because Michael thought the message of the original song was too important to make fun of.

    • @JosiahGould
      @JosiahGould ปีที่แล้ว +20

      The video is a beautiful shot-for-shot (in most of the exact same locations, wiith the same extras) as the original video. Al is so beloved that Michael of course would help him out with everything he could. A while back the alternate takes of Al singing in the bedroom were posted by Al himself, it's... odd.

    • @zifnab
      @zifnab ปีที่แล้ว +15

      Michael Jackson also agreed to give access to both the sets where he actually made the videos for Bad and Beat it, so that is another factor on why the videos are so similar :p

      @@user-dy2te6xf6g Not the same. Yes, you can find many times Al worked with famous artists in the recording of his works. But I'm talking about creating the parody concept and writing it. Al is notorious for not taking other's suggestions for his work. This was a very rare exception.

    Like do "Like a virgin." Then do "Like a surgeon."
    That way the audience can see the similarity as well.

    "Though it makes me feel that if I WAS around in the 80s, I would have been on a lot of drugs!"
    As someone who grew up in the 80s, I can say that there is a reason for that stereotype on that decade.

    The night Santa went crazy you have to listen, it’s a real throw back song that most won’t get but it’s fucking hell-arious.

    Check out Weird Al's "Like A Surgeon" after watching Madonna's "Like A Virgin" music video. He even mimics her dance moves. Hilarious!

    You need to review UHF the only feature length movie starring Weird Al. It's like a mindtrip through Al's brain and a cult classic.

    Cliff Beats You Don't Love Me Anymore by Weird Al. Greatest love song ever!!! It's anti-love with a love ballad feel. It's his funniest song, imo

    Separate by time frame- I’d have to say “Word Crimes”, “Foil”, and “Handy” are the first that spring to mind if I only think about Weird Al’s catalogue of newISH music. The last two never stop making me laugh no matter how many times I watch the videos. I swear I blow up his channel.

    I remember being a teen in the 80's and, if you were lucky enough to have cable, MTV was usually on all the time. I still remember hearing the first few notes of this song and rushing to the TV hoping it was Weird Al and not Michael Jackson!
    You should react to his parody of "Like A Virgin" by Madonna, but include some clips or a least pics from the original video (if you can do that)

    2:41 - That picture was not meant to fall off, but they kept the take because it was funny.

    “Dare to be Stupid” would be an excellent example of Weird Al’s pastiche work. DEVO themselves said it was one of the most DEVO songs they never wrote

    There’s a video that shows “Eat It” and “Beat It” side by side, so you can really see how the they compare, it’s amazing.

    Man, I gotta say you are awesome. I love your reactions to weird Al and George Carlin. It’s so cool to see you experience these videos for the first time. I appreciate what you do. Keep doing what you’re doing!
    Oh yeah, I don’t think you’ve reacted yet to this one, but do One More Minute by Weird Al, it’s a classic.

    Al is absolutely the GOAT! I grew up in the 80's, and it was a blast. We loved Weird Al - he was perfect for the 80's with MTv and the introduction of music videos. Try his parody of Dire Straits, Money for Nothing ❤
