Weird Al has never done a parody without the original artists' permission. He is completely respectful about the whole process, and does everything to mimic as much of the original videos possible while "quirking" them with his own silly personality. His is the ultimate expression of the phrase "Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery"😊

    • @johnaskins638

He didn't actually get Coolio's permission for parodying Gangsta Paradise, he had permission from the studio from my understanding but not from Coolio. I remember that was the whole issue with Al and Coolio for a while, after that he made it a thing to get permission from the singer for sure and not just the studio.

    • @ninjafoxgamesgeekery
      @ninjafoxgamesgeekery 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

@@johnaskins638Correct, but Al understood Coolio had given permission. After that, he has made it a point to personally speak with each artist himself directly.

Sure, he's a famous actor, but another thing he's well known for is his massive action figure collection. He's one of the premier action figure collectors in the US and he's put that collection to use on a little show he created called Robot Chicken.

The guy in the background from the middle to the end, dancing, is Donny Osmond. People that grew up in there that era know him as an Osmond Brother… The heartthrob of the Osmond brothers when they were teenagers… And they were like the “safe “band for young girls to see in the 70s. Very religious Mormons, they had a big family and all of them were involved in singing entertainment and very very popular. That’s why it’s so funny that he’s doing the background in this ha ha ha. Good sense of humor about himself.

He is American, born and raised in California. He is something of a pop culture icon with his main claim to fame being musical parodies, 5 of which won him Grammy Awards. This particular song reached #9 on the billboard charts. The guy you were asking about was Seth Green, the other guy dancing behind Weird Al was famed singer Donny Osmond, the guys in the car are comedians Keegan-Michael Key and Jordan Peele, the lady that got the surge protector was comedian Judy Tenuta.

The guy dancing in the background is a very famous singer who sang in the Osmond Brothers, solo, and as a duet with his sister, whom he had a tv show with twice. Donny Osmond. He was considered too squeaky clean. His family was friends with the Jackson fives. Ma

This is not the best song to start the Weird Al journey. Apart from that, you must always react to the original first to really appreciate the parody! I recommend: „Bad“ (Michael Jackson) and „Fat“ (Weird Al), „Gangsta‘s Paradise“ (Coolio) and „Amish Paradise“ (Weird Al) and ultimately „Smells like teen spirit“ (Nirvana) and „Smells like Nirvana“ (Weird Al)!

Michael Jackson's "Beat It" and Weird Al's "Eat It". Al copied MJ's video almost exactly, even had some of the same people in it. MJ helped Al with it, so that went a long way to making it great.

It's funny when someone watches a parody song without knowing what it's a parody of beforehand. Al puts a lot of well known (and lesser known) people in his videos. The guys in the car are Key and Peele, the guy in the action figure thing is Seth Green, the dancing guy is Donnie Osmond, and the "mom" is Judy Tenuta (comedian). All the things he references are typically "nerd" stuff, some extremely so (like JavaScript & Klingon).
He probably got most famous early on with his parodies of Michael Jackson's "Bad" and "Beat it" - Weird Al made "Fat" and "Eat It" - or maybe Joan Jett's "I Love Rock n' Roll" from which Al made "I Love Rocky Road". You really need to watch the original videos to get the full effect of the parodies, though.

“A lot of the scenarios threw me off, heavy…” uh yeah, that’s the point of the song, “White and Nerdy” it’s either extremely bland like stereotypical white people, or extremely nerdy. He’s playing the stereotypical kid who was nerdy, weird, super smart but socially inept in school. The one who typically got bullied… so now imagine that same kid wanting to hang out with gangsters xD it’s meant to be absurd and funny, that’s what makes it a parody

Most Weird Al parodies spoof the official video as well, so the original song's video should be viewed first, otherwise you miss out on half the fun of it

Awww... we made you downright speechless. Poor you. I think we're going to have to take away your white&nerdy membership card. You missed.... everything. Even the Key and Peele cameo at the beginning. This video is chock-full of cameos and nerdy references. Sometime, you should play the Ridin' Dirty video side-by-side with this video. Maybe you'll see exactly how genius this thing is. Some explanations and cameo list for this video:
Key and Peele - in the car at the beginning. This video came out in 2006. If I'm not mistaken, this is before they really hit it big. I think they were still just players on MadTV at this point.
Seth Green - the guy you were trying to think of. Creator of Robot Chicken. Oz, the werewolf, from Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
Donny Osmond - the dancing guy behind Al. The whitest little mormon that ever lived. Entertainer from the Osmond family. Was on TV for several years with his sister on The Donny and Marie show.
MC Escher is an artist from the early to mid 1900's that does mathematically inspired works. You should look up a few. They're pretty cool.
Klingon is a language spoken by a race of people that appear in the Star Trek universe. It's been fully created. You can learn it today online.
The Star Wars Holiday Special aired once and only once in 1978 and has never been re-released in any form. It's... so awful. It's really really bad. But Star Wars collectors wanted a copy. Back in the pre-internet days, the only way to get a copy was to find someone who happened to tape it on their home VHS when it was broadcast and ask them to dub you a copy. Those copies went for HUDREDS of dollars. You can watch it now pretty much anywhere. Don't, but you can.

If you want honest feedback, the background noise when the mic kicks in is mildly distracting. Do what you want with that. Love the reactions, tho. More Al, please!
Also, I don't think he would ever come for you. You can play the videos without fading them out.
