Richardson always had good pocket awareness going into the draft. That is a super underrated quality of NFL QBs. If Steichen and the Colts coaching staff can get him to be more consistent with his reads and throws, he could be special.

Seahawks have Metcalf, who is a straight line, huge burner; and Lockett, who is an undersized, route-running outside receiver. The opening on the team is in the slot position and that's where JSN will be this year.

Peyton Manning started right out of the box and he SUCKED in year one. He had a 56.7% completion percentage and threw 28 picks in his 16 starts... The Colts finished 3-13 - in the cellar of the five team AFC East.
      That worked out okay.

No, if you watched his tape, you saw that he wasn’t as “raw” as people were trying to push. He had good pocket presence and pocket mobility, like genuinely good. You also saw that he showed he can read defenses and go through his progressions. He was not a one read QB. He also called protections at Florida. Not to mention he’s a good person who’s willing to be coached. The absolute biggest issue with him is his accuracy and it’s not about his release, it’s about his footwork. It needs a lot of work and it’ll take 2-3 years for him
to be a league average passer in terms of completion percentage and general accuracy. But he understands how to play the QB position. People saw the insane physical tools and his sub par stats in college and just assumed he was super raw but he wasn’t. I’m not saying he’s going to be good out of the gate, but I think he’s not going to be as lost as people think he is when he’s starting week 1.

As a Colts fan from the Pacific Northwest with dual Seahawks citizenship, I'm quite good with both of your focus players.
AR5 is a lottery ticket. Maybe it pays off, maybe it does not, but the Colts HAD to pick a QB at 4, so to the lottery ticket machine they did go. Colts will be bad this year, maybe turning it around next year. But Peyton sucked as a rookie and we Colts fans will gladly give him a one year mulligan. He will play week 1, I think.
Seahawks, on the other hand, are close to contending in the weak NFC. They're currently the 4 seed by my count (Eagles, Niners, Cowboys) - and they're coming for the Niners this year. They just completed a second consecutive A+ draft and they're STACKED outside of DT.
Hawks have arguably the best WR trio in the NFL now with Metcalf/Lockett/JSN.

Anthony Richardson has a natural talent for running and throwing. However, if they try and change and improve him too much. Oftentimes the over coaching can hurt a Qb. If they overdevelop his talent. That could take him out of his comfort zone. By trying to influence him mentally, it could reduce his natural abilities!!

First year starting in college, new coach, new system, hard to blame anyone at Florida for not winning with him right away (although I do think they didn’t run him enough, but even that was likely good for Richardsons long term career, trying to protect the guy).

His lowlights and highlights show all a pro coach should need to win. He played in the SEC. Meaning he played teams with better athletes than his team. NFL teams are judged by how many defenders they have that he played against. Not that he's seen NFL defenses, but he's taken hits from NFL talent. He knows that defenders can harm him. Some guys don't learn that and never catch on. Carson Wentz etc. Doesn't matter how big and strong you are the NFL will chop you down. Also why I think Bryce Young will be fine. Not because he can take punishment, but because he smart enough to avoid it. Richardson is hard to hit. He can take a few if he has to. The highlights show nice throws with replicable technique. The lowlights show mostly getting beat. He reminds me of Kurt Rambis. Kurt Rambis wasn't a dynamic amateur but what he did worked in the pros. What this kid does looks like it will work in the pros. What I see is that he is completely able to do everything he did in college because his skills fit.

He came from a losing back round
But he has mentality as a winner

Practice is PRACTICE. Minshew was traded by Jax because he made Trevor look bad in the OTAs. Look at Richardson’s throws in games. He needs to hold a clipboard to start.
They have an established QB with experience in the system who has an edge to compete above most other QBs in this league. Minshews stats were better than Murrays in his rookie season yet the Cardinals push of a short & under performing QB in 2018 in the media got him the ROY award.
Jax dumped the entire season leading up to the TL draft so they would get the first pick and literally hurt Minshews career by not playing him on purpose.
If the Colts want to win, they have the QB who runs a Play Action offense from college and ran the same system every week in Eagles camp. Minshew should start and Richardson should hold a clipboard until at least 2024 unless they do have a losing record so bad that its viable to risk the health of an investment like that to start them against a strong conference defense.
Russell Wilson is the best example. Drafted late, wasnt supposed to beat out the QB the Seachickens gave a nearly 50M contract to, and now nobody can even name the QB who was supposed to start before Russell took over.
This is going to be an annoying media hype until you see Kapernick 2.0 get exposed by experienced defensive coordinators. Give Richardson time to develop if they want him to be the QB of the future.
Remember the QB who came to the Redskins named Campbell. Yea and then Hoskins (RIP), too few of experience prior to being thrown into the fire.
17 Tds passing with 9 ints in his senior year at florida makes him raw. He can look like a superstar in practice, but from someone who played in college, saw qbs come and go who couldnt perform in games but were amazing in practice, a practice superstar qb is a practice qb.
Assistant coaches are watching a QB throw routes in OTAs right now but the biggest mistake they will make with him is starting him week 1. If aaron rogers started week 1, his career wouldnt have been successful.

I'm more inclined to say Young isn't on Richardson's level. Young played for a stacked Alabama team. Stroud had a really good Ohio State team and Marvin Harrison Jr. What did Ricardson have? I am not impressed with Young. He is small and I'm not sure he is that good at making reads. He hangs on to the ball way too long and that will get him killed in the NFL. It is fine when you play for a beast of a team in college and you are facing college defenses. That won't fly in the NFL. Of the top 3 QBs picked, I think Young is the most likely one to flop.

    • @lulbenji1146

Bryce young being small has dominated all competition at the highest level since he was a teen , won the hiesman in his first year actually starting at bama which has the most players in the NFL that have the most success . Any small problems he has will be fixed , there's obliviously a reason he went #1 being a undersized QB . Watch his highlights when he's under pressure and you'll change your mind lol .
