Just want to say that Universal has actually dropped the copyright claim after I disputed it, so we good!!! What did you guys think of the movie?
it was great
i liked it
Hi
Great movie
It was really cool I watched it the day it came out in America
I feel so sorry for the poor Giga.
If it was an actor, I imagine it would just depressivley walk home after the final day of filming, hopelessly broken by the fact it was so mistreated after finally making it's way into a Jurassic movie, only for the Spino to show up and say "I told you so."
@Saturn King of the monsters What makes it even weirder is that the Theri was involved, like... did Rexy _know_ that pushing the Giga onto the Theri's claws would kill it? And furthermore, considering the Theri is blind, did it even realize what was happening? Or was it just standing there thinking "Why are my arms suddenly so heavy?"
@Saturn King of the monsters yup.
At least Giga gets better treatment in video games like Warpath: Jurassic Park, Ark, etc.
Spino at least matters to the movie . They did giga the hyped dinosaur no importance at all . If you remove giganotosaurse , the movie would play the same way . They should have had giganotosaurs spotlight instead of bugs and make a better plot like the fans wanted THE DINOSAUR AND HUMAN PLOT . It was built in even trailers but forgotten . Like the ending was literally made no sense because of how much they had focus on nostalgia baiting fans
The giga was the victim
I do completely agree with your points on building suspense.
Take the campsite scene from the Lost World. It is in the middle of the night. We hear the impact tremors, see the puddles ripple, Sarah desperately tries to hide any loose food items and turns off the lantern, we see the silhouette of the Buck, we see Ian's reaction to it, then we finally see the Tyrannosaur's head as it slowly enters the tent and smells the jacket, and Sarah and Kelly have to be still and silent. Then the payoff, Carter wakes up and screams, waking everyone else up and provoking the Tyrannosaurs to attack. It is a masterpiece in building suspense.
And in Dominion the Pyroraptor just walks up like a kid looking for their parent in a grocery store.
The way the Pyroraptor just appears from behind the rock is so funny. Like what was it doing in between the plane crashing and Chris Pratt and Kayla having their conversation. Had it not spawned in yet? Was it a heavy sleeper? Was it waiting for the director to yell “ACTION!”?
As much as people hate on The Lost World, that sequence is a masterpiece, the raptors in the tall grass too, and the buildup to the trailer attack as well.
@@Weirdanimalboy it was behind the rock or somewhere further. The pyro isn’t gonna dash over the moment it hears a crash. It moves slowly as it wants to investigate what caused that sound
@@AtrociCollector it moves slowly then it dives into the water and swims under ice super fast.
@@3bladeninja21 that’s cuz it was checking out the humans, then decided to attack
Part of what made Jurassic Park so great was the simplicity. No flashing lights, bright colours, or explosions. It relied on suspense, dialogue, characters, and again, simplicity. All the JW movies are like Marvel superhero movies. Maybe that’s the formula that’s worked for a long time now, but I really miss the old way that movies were made.
Me too
You are one of the rare fans that understand this, I am glad there are still People like you
okay to be fair they did kind of do that in the first jurassic world movie, like with the introduction to the Indominus and with the raptor interactions
Completely agree
Also the fact that characters WERE injured. We don’t have to always kill off a character to have actions that have consequences and dangers. The first movie was a story of survival in the danger. The later ones were just adventure movies with no real threat- if any it was at the end and didn’t have any big consequences.
I love how Beaver was just ranting about the character development of Alan Grant for 5 minutes straight.
Me too. I felt so hyped about the movie I read The second novel😂
Stop being sis
I would too
The reason the first film is so good to this day is the strength of the story and the dialogue, something they seem to have forgotten since.
Also it had a love for paleontology
The second one was alright as well.
Idk i liked the third also, it felt really like horror as the dinosaurs werent in the cages like in the first movie
Script writers have got shitty 😢
The part where the Raptors hunt the group in the abandoned buildings has some nice suspense.@@Chilly_1
my biggest problem with the movie besides the pacing being all over the place was the fact that we didn't get to see much of the dinosaurs living and interacting with normal everyday people. I was hoping after seeing the end of fallen kingdom and the battle at big rock short, that we would get to see people really struggling to live with dinosaurs. Blue is running off into the wilderness at the end of fallen kingdom and seemed very confused at the sight of a nearby town which i would have loved to see her interact with in some way. then she's just near owens farm in dominion... ok
there are extra shots of those
@@shelbyjustiss1816 yeah but it should've been the point of the movie and we should have seen more.

The Dinos seriously got 7 MINUTES OF SCREEN TIME
Mad respect for your review. I had finally time to watch it, and honestly, while I do enjoy most of your content, this was by far the most mature, funny and serious at the same time, video you've ever made. I would love to watch more of your reviews like this. Hats off, this is great. :) I'm proud I'm your fan.
as a jurassic fan as well i agree completely. Me and a friend I went and watched it with, once the credits rolled we looked at each other like "really? thats it? this is the finale?"
Me and my friend did the same
That was my reaction after watching it as well . I was completely speechless. Like about 20 years old franchise getting a dog water ending? Jesus
I walked home with a huge frustration headache. So dissatisfied.
It’s not the end the next movie is probably called Jurassic world:extinction
@@guywith39subs Its not done yet
i find it funny how the concept art shows so many ideas that would have been perfect and made a satisfying final movie, but it was traded for fan service
but no spino, and atrociraptors instead of the original trilogy velociraptors.
Not really fan service, since none of these are asked or liked by the fans. It's pure laziness.
@@ruinthuessia1078 fan service doesn't necessarily mean the fans asked for it. Fan Service can easily just be a thing specifically meant to stir feelings of nostalgia, the Dimetrodon sail scene is the purest example of this
I wouldn't call it fanservice, more like memberberries.
@dreymak4071 Even memberberries are still a form of fanservice as you're expecting fans to remember and have a positive reaction to it
“You were so preoccupied with whether or not you could, you didn’t ask if you should.”
Pretty much sums up the entire Jurassic franchise.

@@Cartoonicus Thank you
Dude the concept art at 28:02 just sends CHILLS down my spine, even though the real therizinosaurus used it’s claws to help it feed.
it still could use them to easily take out smaller creatures, probably not larger ones though. So it would still be a potential danger for a human to be around one.
Therizinosaurus remains are very little, We don't know what Therizinosaurus has used its claws for but it is correct, It would have probably use it to level food down and maybe even cut branches down if its thin enough but it is also not crazy to speculate to say it uses it as defensive weapons against threats.
I love how they just copy pasted the final fight from Jurassic World and were like
“Yeah, that’s a great idea, nobody will notice!”
Except this time, the enemy dino wasn't even evil.
@@quaronncz464 and is also not a hybrid
@@quaronncz464 Giga is a antagonist but not a villain that’s my thoughts summed up pretty much
Except it's much worse. The Giganotosaurus was just behaving like a normal dinosaur, it wasn't going on a destructive rampage like the Indominus Rex. It did not deserve such a brutal death.
The fight is just there for reasons , not even with the YT prologue in mind does it make sense. The T Rex and the Giganotosaurus are entirely different dinosaurs, and there is no "vindication" for the T Rex either since it needed the Therizinosaurus assist.
@@TheJotaroKujo exactly. Rexy always needs help lmao
I loved the part when Rexy said "it's Rexin' time", and absolutely Rexed all over the giga
It made one rexillion dollars at the box office.
Stop it
I loved when giga said its gigin time and then gigged all over rexin
@@Dracovenatrix NO
Rex does not understand
It’s so weird that all these movies with characters questioning their origins or parentage have the characters suddenly not have to deal with that. Rey doesn’t have to come to terms with her parents abandoning her, her parents actually loved her and wanted to protect her. Maisie doesn’t have to come to terms with being a clone of a dead girl that set dinosaurs loose on the world, she’s actually born from a virgin mary that loved her and also she never mentions any turmoil about releasing the dinosaurs as a child.
Right? She releases all the dinos and kills so many people because of that but she's pissy about not being able to go and watch them possibly kill other people INCLUDING her
Shhhhh, characters facing consequences for their actions and questioning their origins is too deep and intelligent. Less depth, more action!
Next movie plot: "dinosaurs now have the ability to fly and shoot Lazers because they forgot to mention they put compound v in their DNA" 💀
I HIGHLY agree with the Concept Art of Owen and Alan facing off against the Pyroraptor should have definitely been in the Film.
It would have been an incredible opportunity to have two main protagonists from two different generations to face off against a familiar species that had huge impacts to their character arcs and it would have been a huge.... HUGE PAY OFF TO THEIR CHARACTERS!
It just baffles my mind that someone in the production office or even Colin didn't think it was an incredible scene for the Film.
My favorite part was when Therizinosaurus said "It's Domin' time." and dominioned all over Giganotosaurus, literal chills in the theater when I saw that part.
Honestly it was when grant said it’s grantin time and granted all over the dimetrodon
My favorite part was when the Pyroraptor said "It's hypothermia time." And hypothermiaed all over Owen and Kayla. Cinematic hypothermia at it's finest.
I swear these YT comments are better entertainment than the movie. 😆🤣
@@ex8800 I loved the bit where dr Sattler said “it’s sattlerin time” then sattlered at the giga
I love the part where blue said "it's bluen time!" And blued all over the wolf
So, can I just say that Blue is basically a person in a raptor body after this movie?
Jurassic World showed that the raptors could be "reasoned" with to an extent, but never fully tamed.
The first half of Fallen Kingdom was much the same, like a person who raised a lion meeting the animal again after years, its always a toss up to how the animal will react.
Then the second half of Fallen Kingdom and Dominion happened and its like once Blue got the rex blood in her, she just stopped being an animal at all. Just a person. All of the danger of making sure you didn't get to comfortable around her vaporizes. The only time she is any danger to Owen is when Beta is taken. And then she slaps his hand and all but Demands him to get her baby back like an angry Karan. Like its somehow his fault SHE brought Beta there, and the writers conveniently forget that Velociraptors can smell people "a mile away" in their own lore. There is no way she didn't know about the poachers. None.
Hell I was halfway convinced Owen would have invited her in for a beer after a job well done.
And I love Blue. I know she is Important for Owen, but technically, she didn't even need to be in the movie. Neither did Beta. Maisie was all they needed. Maisie was made by the same method as Beta, a parthenogenic clone, and had the sample of the pathogen needed for the locust. Beta was totally unnecessary to the plot. All the data learned from Beta would have just been found in Maisie too. Getting two samples from two different species and trying to make them work on a third is way harder than just taking a single sample and making it work with a single other species.
I think it's pretty obvious that both beta and blues relationship was supposed to mirror that of maise's and Charlotte's relationship, showing the bond between mothers and daughters, but that shouldn't really be in a jw film
@@umairashraf5167 But they had to change Maise's origin to get that story. Her origin in Fallen Kingdom is not the same as in Dominion. It was all just pretty unnecessary. Plus they already set up Claire as the mom figure. It really paints Blue as a bad mom if you think about it. Blue demands Owen go get her baby that she lost. Claire goes out and risks her life repeatedly to get Maise back when she was kidnapped, and she isn't even her biological kid. The relationship isn't even mirrored that well.
@@smugreptile6695 this is all beside the fact blue should be dead by the end of fallen kingdom, there's no way she knew that gas leak + fire = explosion. I'm sorry but raptors have NEVER been that smart in this continuity, and even if they were intelligence alone is not enough for blue to know the things she did, it's pure plot armor.
@@dreymak4071 I think you are actually giving her too much credit. Its not that she knew it would explode. Its that she knew the gas was bad and fled. All the other dinosaurs did their best to get away from the gas, going so far as to brush shoulders with predators just to move away from it.
I always wanted a scene where Alan experienced some sort of PTSD with a raptor, would've been a good scene imo
Wasn´t there a scene like that in jurassic park 3? The plane dream?
@@MatthiasDrinksH20I meant more like a different hallucination, where maybe hes at a coffee shop and he sees like a raptors tail around a corner, or sees a raptor shaped silhouette run in the street
@@garfuffle8373 Oh, yeah, that could have been cool.
@@garfuffle8373he hears a person cough and thinks it’s a raptor 😂
I also hated the retcon they made with how the raptors hunt. The first movie showed that they were incredibly ruthless and even a bit malicious.
Then in Dominion, suddenly they just go for the instant kill via jugular bite? I know it’s a weird complaint, but it just felt wrong to me.
I enjoyed Dominion quite a bit, inspite of it's many flaws.
But I might enjoy this video even more, because it's *flawless* haha the editing was so good, this was an hour well-spent
Same, the only problem i had with it, it had multiple plots. Nonetheless, I liked it!
The ending was terrible
Evo! How you going! I enjoyed the movie too, I’d give it a 7.8 out of 10, but yeah there was DEFINITELY flaws
Oh hi Evo !
Honestly, gotta agree with Evo. I enjoyed this movie. I really did, but after watching it and hearing of many of the concepts and ideas that never made it to film, I feel exactly what Beaver is saying. It feels like I’ve been cheated from a better movie- like I do still enjoy it, but I see how it could have been so much better. I still do love that many of the dinosaurs were presented as animals, however!
I remember walking out of the cinema after watching it and feeling like I hadn't even watched a Jurassic movie but I swear no one felt the same way, so I'm glad to see someone go over it and talk about it's problems and benefits lol
That is because the atmosphere of the movie is far from the first two movies.
@@DonatoColangeloOr maybe because there isn't as much dinosaur as there should be
@@selarom2018I don't agree. There are many species shown. Too many, actually. This is even worse than saying the movie does not seem to be a Jurassic. You've put tons of species and the movie still sucks...
@@DonatoColangelo Yeah, that's what it is; there isn't enough GOOD dinosaur (pun unintended). Thank you
@@selarom2018 JW 3 introduces character after character, does not let them develop naturally and paces thru the whole plot. They try to get canon moments the whole time but its too much.
I honestly feel like one of the big problems with these last three movies is a lack of planning. It's almost like they didn't realize there would be a second movie after the first, and a third after the second.
As you pointed out there are so many shots that are practically just 'hey, remember the old movies! Here's a shot just like that! Here's people from those movies! They're here too...for some reason! Here's a subplot that makes no sense because we don't know what to do with these people!"
I'm glad we got to get a dangerous herbivore though! Instead of one that just exists to be eaten.
I mean, we had dangerous herbivores all the way back in the lost world.
I think the real problem is that they have no story. They write whatever is the most convenient path for the plot to happen. They think out set pieces and then weave the story to loosely link those set pieces together with flimsy threads. Like you can literally pinpoint it:
"Owen falls in pit and has standoff with raptors"
"Owen rides a motorcycle with raptors through the jungle"
"All the dinosaurs and the main cast are running in the same direction to escape volcanic cloud and jump off cliff"
"Dinosaur in sewer with some lava dripping from the ceiling while characters try to escape"
"Owen has to jump through Rex' mouth after getting blood sample"
"Dinosaur chase scene through city - again on motorcycle"
"Dinosaur herding scene in snowy countryside"
"Therizinosaurus stalks main character through woods while being all scary and ominous"
"Locust on fire burst out of building and sets whole valley on fire"
Sure, movies need good set pieces and the original JP trilogy had pre-planned set pieces for sure. The difference is, most of the set pieces in the JW movies do absolutely nothing to further the plot. They just exist for the sake of shoving more action on the screen - and in general you could cut out most of it and the story would be unaffected. There is no link between the different events, they just _exist_ .
Dominion is imo the worst offender of all the JW movies. It thoroughly feels like no story was written in advance. Instead, most likely the directors and writers just had idea brainstorm sessions where they threw together as many "cool scenes" as possible and picked out the ones that were convenient to fit into a somewhat achievable narrative. Nothing of substance, tons of errors, butchering of dinosayr (and general animal) behavior. Complete disregard for physics. All in all it's doing exactly what the Fast and Furious franchise has become. It's turning a once cool and grounded niche, into a pseudo superhero franchise, because that's what they think the audience is willing to believe and acknowledge as acceptable writing and directing.
I'm a year late replying to your video, but I've been a big dinosaur nerd and Jurassic Park fan since I was a kid. I'm in my 30s now, and I remember being hyped for this movie. I was elated to see the main 3 back together! I wanted to see Alan interact with Blue or any other raptor (although knowing he could have interacted with the pyro would have been a hundred times better.)
But what we got was a mess. I went to this movie decked out in Jurassic Park merch, a shirt, a cross-body bag with "InGen" on it, buttons from the park 'welcome tin,' etc.
I remember sitting in the theater, and eventually, I realized the cast had more plot armor than some of the characters from Game of Thrones. I stopped worrying about them.
After it was over and I left, I felt like something was missing, but I couldn't figure out what. I remember telling people, 'It was okay.' It was worth a watch, but in the end, it wasn't mind-blowing. I didn't HATE the film. I still don't. But it's not my favorite either.
It's a popcorn movie.
Your review is spot on. You cover many things I couldn't explain, like why Alan's story never felt like it was wrapped up.
I think the reason the Giga slowly walks around the crew while looking at them is because it is curious what they are, Giga may have never seen a human before and is interested. Before wondering how they will taste and actually starts to chase them.
The Giga would have definitely seen humans before since it was made by humans. Unless there is a breeding population of Giganotosaurs elsewhere in the world.
I like to believe it just wants to hunt for sport and got karma'd by Jeff shoving the fire stick in it's mouth
The Giga’s lore was that it was abused and used by BioSyn for animal testing. Which is why it has a scar on its lip and is missing scutes on its tail. Also probably why the Theri is blind. But because the movie makes no reference to this (or even highlights these things) no one besides a super fan would even know.
It was around humans all it's life
@@m-dinos4941 Ye or he toyed with them.
I think the main problem with the state of the franchise comes down to Universal. We, the fandom, continue to push for quality content, and even those involved in the production (such as Colin and the cast) do deeply care for the community, as evident by Colin's contact with Jurassic Outpost and the enthusiasm shown by the cast members, etc. It is obvious that the issue lies within the main Universal body. Partnering with big names instead of focusing on those within the fandom or canceling games we wanted, and even seemingly unrelated issues like pressuring BDH to lose weight, shows that their focus is on money and appeal and unfortunately dont care for the fans. And I think this speaks to a larger issue in Hollywood of competition and monopolies, as the same three production companies gain more and more franchises and care less and less for the fans behind these movies.
Edit: I will clarify that I LOVE Jurassic World and Fallen Kingdom. Dominion on the other hand... it is enjoyable I suppose, but it's definitely not what I hoped for from the final film. I have not seen the extended cut, so idk how that will affect my viewing of it. And I do think a lot of criticisms of the movie, by critics and even some made by Beaver, are kind of ridiculous and too nitpicky, but the movie overall still has a number of flaws I can't get past.
Fully agree. Most of the reason why the Jurassic franchise is super lackluster is because Universal doesn’t see it as anything past a money maker. We could have much better movies and cooler games or shows, but none of that will happen until Universal expresses any sort of interest; which is likely never.
This movie is not even made for anything or anybody but for marketing purposes
That's mad. BDH is a total babe. Always has been. She seemed happy to be there so hopefully she's in good health
Agreed, it’s an industry problem.
@@LightningAlchemist13 yeah shes good. only reason she gained weight is I believe because she had another kid, so its ridiculous that universal execs were trying to pressure her into losing weight. Apparently, Colin had to step it and tell the Universal execs to chill out.
the giga was just a glorified cameo of "hey remember that one prologue?"
Sadly
That didn't even make sense as these animals are separated by millions of years of evolution
@@chevelle428and the fact so many people tried to cope that the prologue suddenly makes the final ‘battle’ “super satisfying and climactic”
Every time I rewatch the Jurassic Park/world movies I always get the feeling that something was missing/could've gone better, and this review does a great job of pointing those things out.
I didn’t hate it, but I was really underwhelmed. I think there are ideas in the film that could’ve worked, but of course that didn’t happen. I will say the only positives I have are that it introduces new species for the public to learn about. And plus it didn’t kill off the original cast so that’s an achievement.

I was so freaking irritated. It's return was the #1 reason I was excited to see this movie. The second later scene with them sort of made up for it, but it was still an awful idea for an initial 'return to the big screen' scene. Even if they subdued or killed the one right near Claire, it would have been so much better if the others decided to attack right after and they had to run. not gonna lie, if gaming beaver was like a director for this movie it would have been such a greater movie, like the final showdown between giga and t rex flashing back to the prologue would've been something cool to see on the big screen. Plus he would've made the dino intros more suspenseful. not to add that he would also give alan grant more character building especially facing his fear about raptors by meating the pyroraptor.
Coming out of the theater on this movie, I felt conflicted. I loved and hated it at the same time... it was such a strange feeling. After watching it a couple more times, listening to the imput of others etc. I've decided I like it. My favorite parts are the Owen and Claire moments (a lot of which are in the extended cut, why were they cut?!), the Malta scenes, the Therizinosaurus and Claire scene, the amber mines and I'll admit... I liked the dilophosaurus and Claire scene. Though it wasn't perfect... they could have added CGI, made the animatronic a little less stiff etc. I was just so happy to see dilo back. Really wish the plot had been different, something more along the lines of surviving in a dino infested mainland, which we kinda got but not really?? I would have loved if there was some self-sacrifice, someone died to save the others. Maybe more than one person, one of the main cast and Wu getting his novel death. This movie was fun in a lot of scenes, but for me it lacked the emotion and character development I was hoping for. Still, I liked the movie. It's probably 4th or 5th place for me out of all the Jurassic movies, but I liked it. All of this is just my own opinion, each to their own.
I agree with most of what you are saying.
I 100% agree with you. The movie isn't terrible but it is definitely far from the best
The movie was great, but the plot, and reasoning wasn’t executed properly and it made the movie feel like the disappointment when we realized JP 3 was only an hour and a half.
Something funny about the Claire "RUN!" thing I just noticed. Her delivery in Dominion sounds like a midway between Fallen Kingdom and the World one, which was actually really good.
Also, Giga dying conflicts with the message about the natural dinosaurs being able to coexist with humans-the theme park monster wins
Excellent review James, I had fun with this one but man it does too much.
I dont it hurts it that much since the therizinosaurus didn't fight rexy after she slammed the giga right into its claws

Carcharodontosaurus wasn't bigger. Neither was Indominous since it wasn't fully grown yet
Also, you know. Sperm whales.

Gaming beaver, I absolutely agree with your opinion. The magic for me just wasn't there anymore because of the littlest details in which were also important. Universal had the opportunity to show the absolute terror and carnage and consequence of having dinosaurs in our modern world, but it's like it didn't even matter. And the only closing arch we got was dodgeson which absolutely is unacceptable for this being the last movie
I just wanna bring to attention how incredible Beaver's editing is. All the added bits and sound effects made the video so much more enjoyable. None of them were necessary, I would've never thought of adding a squeak sound effect to a character blinking at exactly 45:23 into the video, but I love that they're anyways.
i was disapointed by the movie and i really couldn't figure out why but after seeing beaver point out the flaws, it makes me feel better, that i didnt just dislike the final movie of my favorite franchise for no reason thank you beaver
Im still so mad that they didnt bring back spinosaurus for this movie.
Same. I was expecting it to show up in the caves where you had those dinosaurs with the big fins on their back but nope. Then i realized that the spinosaurus is too big to be in those caves but still c'mon i wanted to see it one last time
I was waiting for it to come and save the trex at the end
Well the Spino can't just teleport from Mantah Corp. Island to the biosyn sanctuary, can it?
it was gonna be in dominion, BUT NOOOOO dilo and theri was Soooooo important than spino!
Mate it’s just a movie come down
Hearing the voice which filled my child mind with fascination for dinosaurs express his disappointment (in the most positive way possible, as always) about Dominion really was the final nail in the coffin for this movie.
Nearly everybody who I've heard comment on it have brought up roughly the same issues, and even similar solutions to said issues. Your average Jurassic fan knows exactly how to fix this movie. Producers with considerable time and good budgets made this.
Jurassic World was a great next-up to the franchise in my opinion. It was natural next step in the narrative; "Okay, we've brought dinosaurs back to life through genetic manipulation. What happens when people get bored of that?" Genetic hybrids. Brilliant. The Indominus' abilities (camouflage, conscious changing in heat signature, coordinating with the velociraptors) which don't make sense from a thematic standpoint are all justified because she wasn't perfect. They got some things wrong. It makes sense. It's a considerably big leap from the theme of the Park movies, and I can understand why a lot of people don't like that. But my point is that Jurassic World, worked. Nobody really had any problems with it for the most part.
Fallen Kingdom was when it started going on a downwards spiral. The director tried to turn the movie into something Jurassic movies have never been whatsoever. They even took a fairly decent next step concept, weaponized hybrids, and butchered it. If you aim a gun targeting laser at an opponent, you can just.. Shoot them. Why bother with this highly unstable, very killable animal?
Dominion.. You've watched Beaver's review. I don't need to say anything about it.
I'm sorry this movie ended up so mundane. It hurts my heart to hear you, of all people having to explain how much this movie got wrong. Know we all feel that same pain.
Thank you all, for listening to my 5am ramble.
Here at 3 am, 2 days later, agreeing with everything you've said in this comment. It irks me to no end what they did to Ian Malcolm's character. Also, what was that final line concluding Satler's and Grant's romance? Can we even call it a romance at this point? *Big* yikes.
The thing about the Indoraptor being unstable, is that it wasn’t even the final product. The Indoraptor we see was not what the Indoraptor was supposed to be, it was Wu’s Early Access Patreon Reward. At least the Indominus was basically what she was designed to be, with some extra things Wu didn’t account for.
@@Weirdanimalboy I love how when Universal finally made another scary hybrid, the Scorpius Rex, they used it for a kids show.
I wholeheartedly agree with this comment
This is easily the best jwd review on TH-cam. You went so in depth and showed awesome scrapped content.
Yup Nothing will ever touch the original again but I gotta say if you really think about it even Jurassic park 3 was way more entertaining than this disaster because at least they still had that old Jurassic 90s feel to it then
Once the new trilogy started it was game over never felt like the first trilogy again I mean really in 2022 the dinosaurs looked worse than the first ones unrealistic and way to fast to the scenes all sloppy jammed together like a modern 007 movie mixed with 90s CGI and blurry and was terrible and poorly done.
Then to add to the horror was 3 storylines going nowhere fast and when the best of the best finally got together the movie was over see that's what's wrong with movies today either it's another crappier remake of the greatest of all time not even coming close again or once again we have to be politically correct in everything like let's play with the dinosaur and there not dangerous anymore and put them on a leash.
I mean come on people this would never happen they would be eating us alive not coming back at the end and basically giving us a high five for bringing my baby back they wouldn't have no way in hell have been able to get close to these prehistoric titans without being eaten or ripped apart or stepped on it would have been anarchy on a level never thought possible specially in the ocean with the megalodon are freaking kidding me your talking about a 70 foot great white eating machine that would be sinking boats like crazy same with the other 60 to 100 ft monsters that we never knew was out there until it was unleashed on us in a catastrophic way
Well Beaver this review was spot on. You explained it very precisely what I have felt after leaving the cinema, but couldn't articulate properly. I watched it even twice to give it an other shot, but new questions kept coming and parts I couldn't understand. I think the point when I really got angry, was when Claire crouched down to get right in the height of the Dilo's mouth. It was however a tough job to bring the franchise to an end. Unfortunately there is no next time, where it can be flawless.
The yells were founded... how were they not?... Not only were carnivorous dinosaurs after them, the kid JUST saw what was making the noises, butt there were added HORRIFYing factors. With the kid there was also lava flow and those two were potentially trapped WITH a hungry carnivorous WITH lava flowing all around, IN AN AREA THEY THINK THEY CAN'T ESCAPE! The lady, she thought she was done with it and it just dawned on her that it was closing in on them where before she figured they would escape, the almost promise of death is a deciding factor for a shriek or two.
I guess his point was that they didn’t have to be that extra for the screams(but to be fair that kid’s scream was kinda funny)
I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought the 'Dodgson always eating' thing was going somewhere.
I thought it was going to be hinting at some illness which would explain some of the genetic experiments and locusts he had going on, or why he was after Maisie and Beta.
I think it’s to show that he has a reliable supply of food in a world where his genetic experiments are causing widespread famine
I liked it more than I thought I would, especially after not being a big fan of fallen kingdom. It’s not perfect by any means but I wish they built up Dodgson more as a character. Also I feel like Barry and the whole thing with the black market will get some sort of spin off because of how abruptly that part of the movie ends. But I’m happy with the way the main characters conclude their role in the franchise (maybe?).
Please god i hope they're concluded, i never want to see them again.
Hell i never want trevorrow to make another jurassic fanfilm again.
Wasn't my favorite but I liked it
@@RedbearGamerYea same mate
Fallen kingdom was goaded
@@realityblows5817 but was spoiled in the trailers
You put everything I felt about the franchise into this review. Was really gutted overall with the trilogy. And like you said bringing back the JP cast was underwhelming 😅
You forgot the mention that when Masie through the skull at the dimetrodon at 32:08 is a reference back in Jurassic Park 3 when Eric through the skull at the baby pteradons and both scenes are in the exact same camera angle too :).Anyway, i agree with everything you said throughout this video i hope Universal will realize how heartbroken all the die-hard fans were when they saw the movie and i hope they fix their mistakes in the future
I feel like the whole locust story could’ve been done as a spin off film rather as the final film for the Jurassic franchise, also they could’ve made it seem like the giganotosaurus would rage in such a small space which led him to trying to take down rexy or something
Ngl what they did with the locusts actually made me miss indominus rex indoraptor and scorpius rex
Or they could've removed the locusts entirely because dinosaurs all over the world is cool and nobody cares about some stupid bugs.
@@Bagelgeuse The locusts are literally the only reason for the classic characters to do anything because honestly, they’ve already done all they could with dinosaurs in the older films. What would they be directly needed for with an outbreak of same old species in the mainland? Alan might make some sense with his expertise but not Ellie and Ian. They only work as high distance advisors at this point of time, not action stars. So props for Dominion for at least trying to be clever with them even when said attempt wasn’t all that successful.
@@Dinoslay The original cast could have worked with just dinosaurs. How has Alan's career been affected by the dinosaurs all over the world? Does palaeontology mean anything if you can pull out a camera and record an live dinosaur? I know it's touched upon briefly with some snotty teenagers, but Alan inspired real kids to become palaeontologists, so seeing the scientific field he represents get brushed aside sucks. How do the dinosaurs survive in ecosystems they were never made for? Ellie, a palaeobotanist could have been studying that considering plants are the basis for most food chains. What does Ian think of the disaster that he warned people about finally coming true? And no, "Jurassic World, not a fan" is not a satisfactory response from the person who argued against cloning dinosaurs the most. If they've done all they could with dinosaurs in the previous films, then why include them, or even make the movie at all?
@@Bagelgeuse To repeat, they could have worked as distant advisors like Malcolm was in Fallen Kingdom. But getting them into action sequences with the same old species isn’t going to work without a fresh incentive to drive them to it which the locusts sort of offered. Without that they’d have been virtually useless(which they still kinda were). The characters are simply too old to be running from dinosaurs, island or mainland. They did their part and had their reunion, time for retirement. Let the new professionals handle the beasts now.
I think with these random shots of dinosaurs just being there, that was purposeful. Colin talked a lot about how he wanted the Dinos to seem more like animals rather than posing for the camera in the other films, I think he just went a little to hard and just had them standing there.
I was wondering where this video was, lol.
I personally really enjoyed it. I can completely understand why people didn't, as there are a ton of flaws with it that even my bias towards the film cannot ignore. But at the end of the day, I still had a ton of fun with it. I can safely say that it's either my 2nd or 3rd favorite of the Jurassic films.
Opinion accepted
worst jurassic movie lol
It's not a jurassic movie jurassic movies plot is about Dinosaurs. This is Locust world
Fun fact: the reason why the lagoon’s location changed between JW and FK isn’t because they wanted to release the Mosasaurus into the ocean. It’s because when they were mapping out Isla Nubar for Fallen Kingdom they were using a previous map of Isla Nubar for reference. A map of the island from the development of Jurassic World from when that movie was still Jurassic Park 4. During that time of development the layout of the park was very different, including the lagoon leading into the ocean. I got this information from Klayton Fioriti, a JP TH-camr and dedicated fan who is very reliable for JP intel, but has been wrong on occasion, so I’m not sure if this is true but I looked up the JP4 development island map and the lagoon’s location on that map matches up with its location in Fallen Kingdom, so I can believe that’s what happened.
I’m not convinced of that, as in the first world movie they show the lagoon, and it very much looks and seems as if it’s landlocked.
Kinda have to agree with beaver about the mosasaur it had a lot of potential about anything it could do about the ocean like fighting whales or killer whales or something badass but they just show the mosasaur destroying the boat and that’s it.
i think we can all agree, colin nailed it with the two short films, they were awesome( battle at big rock and the prologue)
If only he had the same skill when it comes to MAKING THE ACTUAL MOVIES
yeah he can make cool scenes definitely, his plots are a different story (pun not intended)
THANK YOU. You've captured all of my problems with this film. You've made me feel heard
Probably the best review of this movie on TH-cam. This is just so genuine.
My favorite part is when Dodgson says “it’s Dodgson time” and started dancing
Guess he had eaten too many sweets and wanted something salty. Didn’t ask if anybody else wanted a soda tho.
3 months later and my opinion on the film hasn't changed. Jurassic World Dominion ended up being a messy train-ride from start to finish.
Lemme start off with my positives:
1. I actually liked all the characters in the film(to an extent) even characters from previous films like Franklin I actually much preferred in Dominion and it was awesome to see my boy Barry again as he was one of my favs from the first JW, Dodgson's actor actually surprised me as he was able to solidly portray a human villain(until he did the rage quit dance) and Dr. Wu's redemption arc was at least heartwarming on how he was able to fulfill what Brooklyn told him in Camp Cretaceous S3.
2. All the action scenes which included both old and new species of dinosaurs and non-dinosaurs were pretty awesome to see on the big screen with the VFX being top notch but that's pretty much it.
3. This one isn't so much a category as it is something I just want to point out that I genuinely really liked, it is the scene where we saw Giga and Rexy have that brief tussle for that deer carcass as it gave me a lot of Prehistoric Planet vibes with the fight being very short with one of them immediately backing down to look for food elsewhere which is what animals would have done irl. So a hats off to that from me.
Now, for my main negatives:
1. The pacing is what mostly ruined the film for me. I felt like it was just too quick and we didn't have time to relax and soak in the things that are happening. It was like Action Scene 1 immediately proceeds to Action Scene 2 and it continues this until the end of the film. It's probably worth mentioning the lead writer of this film is from Pacific Rim Uprising, so that's pretty much where the pacing issues come from.
2. The plot armor is just through the roof, you never feel like the main cast are in actual danger as the stakes were really not optimized to the best it could be. In other words, it's painfully obvious that no good guy is gonna die.
3. The Giganotosaurus itself : For being the supposed "Big Bad Dino", didn't even do much in the film as it was only living its life being the top predator of BioSyn's Sanctuary. It had like 5-6 mins. of screen time and it wasn't even doing anything remotely sinister that gives off the essence of it "just wanting to watch the world burn", which throws its whole "Joker" aspect completely out the door. The Spinosaurus, Indominus Rex, Indoraptor and even Scorpios Rex were much better villain dinos and it really sucks to say that since I actually grew to love the Giga's design and they built it up to be this huge threat ever since they released the prologue. It was marketed to be this scary beast but in the end, was basically an innocent animal who ironically died for being one which just left a bad taste in my mouth. Even my friends who were watching with me asked what did the Giga do to deserve that kind of death?
4. An extension of Number 3, is the final battle, ya know, the big climax? It was just surprisingly short and lacking. Like once the Giga died, I thought to myself "that's it?". There was no built-up tensions in the fight, Rexy getting an Anime-Flashback Moment after being knocked unconscious as she got back up, and the camera shots weren't even on the dinosaurs which immediately ruins Alan's line, "This isn't about us...". Is it really hard just to see Giga and Rexy fight like in the Prologue?
5. No Spinosaurus appearance. None. Another wasted opportunity alongside the underusage of plenty of other new species such as the Atrociraptors, Pyroraptor, Quetzalcoatlus, Dimetrodon and the Dilophosaurus' return was just not suspenseful. Even CC did a better job with the Dilo's Return.
Overall, It was still a decently nice experience, but it just left me blank in the end. As a Jurassic Fan, I'm giving it a 6/10. In the end, it just felt very anticlimactic for being labelled as "The Epic Conclusion of the Jurassic Era", when the premise was messily paced and the final battle which is supposed to be the big climax, has no weight behind it and no stakes were raised at all. At least fan animations exist and IDK if I could ever forgive myself for having my friends watch this film with me in our first meetup back since the pandemic first started.
Could we all agree how good the editing was.
24:06 but someone did die in the motorcycle scene in Malta you see the allosaurus eats scooter guy
Saddest death ever 😔
That was a random extra, man. You're point is kinda invalid.
@@wyattgoralski818 It wasn't a random extra, it was the clown who paid to win a contest
@@Hakudoshiii Well yes, in a literal sense that is what they are. But in the context of the movie, they're just some random person. That's what I meant.
That scene is absolutely hilarious. 😅
Man, you just nailed it, when I saw the movie I was thinking exactly the same points you made. It's not a bad movie, but for those who are fans of the JP franchise it leaves a lot to be desired.
Man! That was a fantastic review. Your editing was superb! Especially putting that RE umbrella icon on the lab coats for literally 1 second. Attention to detail.
Everything you’ve mentioned basically is what I’ve thought of to with a few to a lot of things I missed.
This entire review was better than Dominion, it had better pacing, better editing and had a character we all love
Dude the pyroraptor scene would have been so much better! I didn’t even know it was a deleted scene.
The only thing I disagree with beaver here is Malcom throwing the spear, because it was so cool to see the giga breathing fire like a dragon. That was Jeff's idea and my god it's a good one
That’s just his opinion and literally everyone has their own opinion like me
@@kaleozepeda4583 I'm not saying his opinion is bad or anything I just don't agree with it. Everyone's opinions are valid
Zeb looked like it ate a chilli pepper. It was hilarious.
I find myself rewatching this entire video over and over again, the editing makes this a better dominion movie 💀
Same bruh 💀
I thought I was the only one, the only video I've been watching over and over again
I was really hoping the old trio encountered with the Dilophosaurus as well since they never saw one back in Jurassic Park 🥲
Yeah, alan grand need to see that bloody dilophosaurus
An adult dilophosaurus would have been so cool too !
Was hoping for that too with Ian saying ”well, uhm, took us over three decades to see a Dilophosaurus after the tour started but I guess we finally made it.”
The Dilophosaurus in the first film was one of the good guys. I might die on that hill.
I think the ending of dominion would be a lot better if Malcolm giving another speech and finally ends the speech saying "Life finds a way" with the dinosaur adapting with the modern word in the background....
The gaming beaver is the only youtuber who I would genuinely watch for an hour straight!
That's true.
Facts
The extended cut *does* open with the entire prologue, so the final T. rex vs Giga fight keeps its "meaningfulness", even if that whole ancient rivalry idea is still stupid
Also in the final battle, when Rexy get's knocked down, theres a very very quick flashback scene and then her eye opens
I can't get over that at 35:11 in, James used a quote from not only Hazbin Hotel, but ANGEL DUST being slammed by Sir. Pentius. I'm rolling right now 🤣
Yeah, that came out of nowhere. And it was hilarious!
cleearly unexpected
Very unexpected and funny
This movie is like the Rise of Skywalker for dinosaurs
Giga wars the rise of Rexy
Hilarious review! I honestly agree with every single point made. Could not have said it better.

I was honestly kind of astounded seeing that people really liked this movie when it first came out, even to the extent that some called it their favorite of the franchise. Having seen the extended version, I definitely don't think it's the worst movie in the franchise anymore, I think I'd give that to Fallen Kingdom, but it's still not very good in my opinion, and it's mostly just because of so much missed opportunity. I remember in all of the trailer analysis, most people barely touched on the locusts beyond just having no idea what their deal was and I think it's pretty obvious absolutely no one was interested in them, and as you said, the world and characters are almost entirely the same before and after, the whole thing feels weirdly like a spinoff. JP3 gets away with that because it was a much smaller budget and less plot-significant film, but Dominion just didn't feel like the end of not only a trilogy, but really a franchise. I know it's going to keep going, but it just felt like there was zero resolution. Dinosaurs just are out in the world now, and that's that. No moral dilemma, no questions of how that just inevitably is going to affect the ecosystem and human society. The first movie is constantly questioning how much hubris it takes to throw humans and dinosaurs into the mix together, but with Dominion it's just like... nah, it's pretty manageable, actually. Every issue caused in the movie is by one guy rather than the unpredictable forces of nature coming together with human greed that brought down Jurassic Park. Jurassic World Dominion, despite being such a huge movie in scale, doesn't do anything that big or new, and its the first time in the series where I felt like the writers truly didn't understand or didn't care about what the original movie had to say. Great review though, as funny and thoughtful as ever :)
I haven't exposed myself to nearly as much Jurassic content as you, but thanks to this video, I can put reason to my feeling that things were missing in this movie! So thank you.
15:55 In my Jurassic World Dominion rewrite , as soon as Ramsey Cole says Apex Predator. Alan Grant says in shock " Spinosaurus ?" It than cuts a few flashbacks from Jurassic Park 3 ( with thr iconic theme of the Spino ) showing the Spinosaurus roaring , than chasing the group, and ending with the Spinosaurus rising from the water. The flashback ends. Ellie Sattler has a look of concern for Alan Grant. But Ramsey Cole says he was talking about the Giganotosaurus.
This was truly a fun 50 mins vid, great explantion on what things could have been improved along with some banter. Great Content!
The dilophosaur scene had me in a laughing fit in the theater 🤣🤣
Unfortunately the animitronics in this film were bad, I guess Colin isn’t good with animatronics
@@Gamer-Rex Yeah, especially the Dilophosaurus. The Dilo in the first film was entirely practical, no CGI, and it looked great. Now, it's painfully obvious that they're just stiff, lifeless robots.
@@Gamer-Rex That has nothing to do with the director of the film. It has more to do with the people who made and controlled the animatronic.
@@Bagelgeuse In Jurassic park, I did not know it was practical, and the animatronics in the first 5 films were so good it was real enough for me to believe they are actually animals, but here they’re are so lifeless they look like robots
I think the biggest take away from all of this is that the Jurassic series started from horror/thriller, sci-fi and given time was turned into an action/adventure, comedy blockbuster tbh
I had a tradition of watching the Jurassic films in theatres, since Jurassic Park was actually the first film I watched on the big screen as a little baby Foogie. But with the disappointment I felt in the previous iteration, and the fact that it got poor reviews, I skipped out on Dominion. Watched it at a friend's house for free out of bored curiosity. And I'm glad I did. Dominion was a total disappointment, and I would have been furious to spend money on it. Believe it or not, Camp Cretaceous is far superior.
@T-rex02 the lost world was okay, it wasn't amazing, but ut wasn't all that terrible either. After that it all went to hell
Beavs, I really like your views for the final fight scene. That cutting back and forth between prologue and modern day is really good. I think they could and should have done that. Personally, I have a lot of qualms with the film, even the extended edition is still bad. I also would've loved to see Alan and Owen interacting with the Pyroraptor. It would wrap up Alan's character and also show Owen how other raptors behave.
My only issue with this movie is that it didn’t really end anything as a last movie, other then that I loved this movie
They want more movies, shows, etc.
Yes I feel like this movie had the same ending as fallen kingdom and really did not change anything the movie was still great though
@@wogey_yt4113 How was it great
They can't end the franchise. Not while there's money to be made!
I related to the title so much, I took a couple months to get a chance to watch. Great movie, very worth it
Blue wasn't "biting at the air" for no reason. She was just attacked, and her Daughter was just taken from her, she's trying to clime up where she fell to get to her, but can't. Visually I guess they chose that moment to reference back to JP1 with the raptor scene you mentioned, but the scene in Dominion definitely had a purpose, and it was hard to watch Blue scream in fear like that.
This man knows how to stop people from getting mad with his consecutive comedy.
I really want a one hour loop of Dodgson and the funny t rexes
I absolutely love this video.
The editing is amazing, the points are thought out and I question if I will ever be satisfied with this end to the Jurassic Park franchise.
Bro really changed the thumbnail of the video a year later and thought I wouldn’t notice.
I love these edits! 😂
But there seriously should be a remake 🫤
Yeah, i really wish they'd make a remake
Fr fr it needs a proper ending!
Explaining my every thought on this film in an amazing intellectual way. The way yyou did this was amazing beaver and professional. Great job 👍
For me, upon seeing the ending of the movie with Dr. Wu realising from his mistakes hit a weird note. I did not expect a redemption arc but more of an act of consequence for everything he has done in this franchise, him to be gutted(like in the book) to put tension and a little meaning in the whole thing
Exactly. Have him give Maisie a really rough idea of his plan to fix the locusts, have Wu die (preferably by the Giga), and give Maisie some agency so that she actually has to do something instead of being dragged around by other characters
super happy to see you pull no punches here, I had a specific memory of your content and honestly recalled you being very content-farm-like, but going back I can see you’ve always been pretty insightful in regards to actually critiquing media. Mad respect for you and I hope for your youtube career to continue for even longer. ❤
This was a great recap as I didn't understand the movie at first. Then Beaver made a review and making it hella funny. Great Video!
I'd insist you watch the extended edition, it's very clear the Giganotosaurus introduction in the theatrical cut is not meant to be its introduction
The way Beaver explained everything in this video, he could make Jurassic World Dominion better than what Colin gave us.
they need to start bringing people like james to review this stuff, the movies would genuinely improve by SO MUCH!
