2:04 this seamless tracking zoom shot that locks on to the parachute biker WHILE FOLLOWING HIM AIRBORNE is incredible.
For all the people bitching about the cgi, shots like that prooves that there were more put into these secuences than just mindless action. This is the type of style both Michael bay and zack snyder wish they could touch.
Best shot in the film
The more I watch Furiosa the more I’m blown away by it and this scene, this particular moment, is outstanding. And the sound in all this is incredible too, the parachutes unfurling, the explosions, the bikes excelerating. Man, I love it.
@@CineRanter Crazy to see you here.
I also love the scene of Dementus losing his mental grip while Furiosa is tortured and Jack is murdered. It's the one scene in the film where the editing out of frames of "film" for the schizo/jumpy effect is REALLY noticeable, and it works wonderfully to convey Dementus' state of mind.
I mean yes, it doesn't look all that natural as Fury Road. But the editing, the camera work, sound design are all on the high lvl.
Yeah, Fury Road was unreal with its use of practical effects at all time. But this is still incredible and shows real care in making a crazy unique action scene.
it is literally the exact opposite filmmaking style to what they did in fury road. the shots in this movie are so long and carefully edited it is the most astounding feature of the year by a mile
@@marcus6918 i just watched bts of stowaway scene and i agree. Though the problem is they didn't manage to make all of the scene 100% believable in terms of cgi and noticeable greenscreen. Though, as i said before, i still think that the whole sequence is top notch and in several ways even better than FR.
@@MrTriplemozg i believe its a lighting problem. john seale said that in fury road, george would often say to him :„just keep going, i will fix that in post“ - but john insisted to make george listen.
I am so certain that he did that again in this one. this time the DP just obeyed tho. the sky and weather conditions during the shootings vary so much, you can see that in the bts. the sky being grey, rainy, cloudy etc. this makes it hard for the post production team to harmonize the overall skyboxes and cgi
this is why especially the background looks so off sometimes during the movie.
Some shots u gotta go mixed. They beautiful tho so how can u hold it against him?
I love how the Praetorian mechanic guy just gave Furiosa the hose instead of questioning why the Dogman is there, makes him feel very rational and dedicated to his job
Yeah I have wondered the same! He wasn’t a brain washed war boy, or some cultist, he actually called the sons of important Joe crazy. He seemed like he did it out of a brotherhood of the war rig mechanics
I probably preferred Fury Road, but I liked this one all the same. The para-glider things were very cool to see on screen.
Yeah, Fury Road is a ridiculously high bar, but Furiosa was pretty great.
Shiny chrome to Valhalla
I really like how they designed this one to show what they did wrong/needed to improve on and how those led to the design of the Fury Road War Rig:
-More passenger room
-More spacious engine bay, so repairs don't put you an inch away from the front wheels on the outside
-Functional plough instead of just stacked bumpers
-More hidden weapons than just what the drivers carry
-Crew protection on the top of the trailer
-Flamethrower on the rear pod instead of spinning flails
-Base truck is All-Wheel Drive
-Twin superchargers on the engines
-Hidden radiator and smaller radiator caps that aren't prone to being knocked off
And instead of an unarmed troop transport to replenish the Rig, they have an armed scout car.
i so wanted to see the 50cal in fury road
Bro the war rig is just black in fury road wtf are you yapping about
@@TheInfamousDope before you talk stupid sh.t, you should watch the movie. Those are two different vehicles
@@boti1871 It’s the same vehicule with the same functionalities, just black

Sweet lord that’s what I like about these movies
George is still the GOAT.
I agree George Lucas is the GOAT
George of the jungle
curious george
Boy George

2:42 if you listen carefully that bike sounds a lot like an ARCH
Also at 3:20 the horn to the war rig sounds like a edited electric guitar strum. I LOVE THIS MOVIE🤘🥹
2:44 if thats the bike your talking about then look at exhaust header and left engine casing and front forks/brakes its a yamaha mt09 with a chopper sound track.
I don't like using this word, but the war rig horn is EPIC.
@@blt4life112lol! Fair use in my opinion, such a sick sound

This really was an excellent movie. It didn't deserve to do so poorly in the theaters. I blame the trailers personally, made it seem a lot stiffer and CGI heavy than it really was
No! the problem is what you just said. "To much CGI." I understand Miller is in his 80's, but this movie no where near as beautiful looking as Fury Road. I honestly would rather him not show us half effort, when the man is a gifted director. Sometimes you have to call it quits and just retire. 🤷♀
@@jaws392 I'd guess it's not so much about George Miller's Age, but more about the Limnitations he faced. Firstly is Fury Road mostly a near-constant Chase Scene with barely any different Locations, and it is much easier to bash real Vehicles into another in a real Environment, than it is to build Places like Gas Town or the Bullet Farm for real. Plus Fury Road was filmed in Namibia, where the Landscape actually is this Wasteland of Rocks and Dunes, while the Australian Outback still has some small Bushes and other Plants that had to be CGI'd away. Maybe Australia's very strict Health & Safety Standards also limited actual Stuntwork.
Add to that a lot of people now aren't selling their vintage vehicles to these movie sets anymore because they keep destroying the cars (the vintage car market is skyrocketing now and not enough cars to go around for everyone). They even scrap the surviving vehicles for good measure.
So, you need to go CGI.
I'll say it every time, the Chrome Rig is a beautiful monster of a machine
I gotta think the mortifier were the most elite guys in the mad max universe. Director even said they are meant to be like ex military descendants from the end of the world. They scream elite
I was really sad they failed at capturing the rig. They're so badass.
I need a full movie with the Mortifiers, they (and Hemsworth) were the highlight of the movie for me.
They even have different uniforms for each role, showing how organized they are.
Yeah in a behind the scenes clip they said the mortifieirs are either former SAS or at least the descendants of SAS
The sidecar drag bike at the beginning with the biker leaning forward in full metal and leather is so badass.
Holy crap what a scene this was worth going to the movies for Millar still top of his game
At first I didn’t know why they called him the octoboss until I saw the balloon
It was in the first act when Dementus was introduced, but I also didnt get what that was at first glance
Wish they did more with him his design was awesome
@@bluecat. Yeah I was pretty disappointed with what they did to him. I hate it when they do this to cool characters. They build up to him in this battle - you first see his ominous kite in the distance, he appears and fires off a few rounds, then immediately gets sucked into the Bommy Knocker. Anticlimactic.
3:20 love the sound of this things horn. On par with the War Rig's from Fury Road.
Speaking for myself, it sounds too much like a normal rig horn. Furiosa's War Rig horn sounds like the apocalypse itself.
2:08 that shot is so good man
I worked as a base second second assistant director on Furiosa. I can confirm everything you see in this scene is practical. From the Motorcycles getting destroyed underneath the war rig to the gentlemen on the parachutes , to the claw grabbing the biker. Anya Taylor-Joy who plays Furiosa was actually underneath a moving truck in full speed. I had a wonderful experience with Mr. Miller that I will forever cherish.
One of the best action scenes ever filmed
And like I get that a lot of it now is CG while Fury Road was a practical masterpiece with sparing CG, but goof fucking god this is so god damn cool man. That scene with the guy hopping off the bike on skis then parachuting into the air. George is still at the top of his game.
@@cheez1771 dude, even Terminator 2 has CG. Get over it.
Not even top 200.
I'm still very upset this movie didn't do good at the box office. It was such an amazing movie, with beautiful story telling. This is one of my favorite action scenes in a movie ever.
Same.. it just came out at the wrong time and the marketing wasn’t great
4:54 Mad Max 2 reference. Nicely done George. Little Easter eggs throughout the film.

@@paulj9821 It's literally the same fantastic actions sequences just with updated effects. Of course some of it needs to be cgi, but it is done well. That one take with the guy skating on the sand then pulling a chute was awesome. It's like we've watched two different movies.
Enough sense to see that it's ridiculous.
@@selenecelestial5498 The action scenes in the first three made sense.
To me this is the best scene out of the movie.
Love the part where the War Boy who was dying and was about to do sacrifice himself and the others were like.

I'm so glad I watch this at the movies, it had some great action stunts! 🔥🎥
Dude jumped off the back of a motorcycle at like 25-30mph with fucking sand skates on and parasailed into combat position! Like what? George Miller is just so damn creative. The Mad Max universe is my favorite.

Somehow the Bullet Farmer has returned even though the actor died years ago and no one is following up.
Edit: You see, some people in the comments don't even really understand it.
...and somehow, Palpatine returned
it happened before the fury road tho
@@killzoneliberation STOP yapping before watching the movie. furiosa is prequel to the fury road.
So weird this is music-less, while Fury Road was banging.
The action in Furiosa is slower and more methodical while Fury Road is more fast paced and chaotic. The same music playing throughout this scene really added. Both Furiosa and Fury Roads style is amazing

I remember seeing the first glide's parachute popped out for the first time, my jaw dropped. What a great shot! I knew then this was a worthy prequel to Fury Road.
GOAT action sequence…😢
I love how the mortifiers drew the Octobosses tentacles on Immortan Joe's seal on the highway.
I want to meet the one who uploaded this whole movie on YT, this movie was fucking fantastic, I did not expect this to be amazing, I can't get enough of it!

Wouldn't those spinning maces make it feel like the rig had the world's most out of balance driveshaft? Other than that I absolutely love the practical effects in the Mad Max films, it was awesome to watch this one on a massive screen at the drive-in.
What a great film. Love that world he's created.

@@officerk5271 so please tell me where is CGI and practical in time stamp can you?
@@11herbsNspicess basically everything that you see in this scene is practical. The truck, the bikers, the motorcycles going underneath the truck. Anya crawling alongside the rig. It’s all practical. Watch the behind the scenes footage of this scene. You will see that most of it is practical.

The War Rig here sounds similar to the one in Fury Road. It sounds like a beast, Shiny and Chrome! Sweet!
5:17 This movie is amazing
It’s probably too dangerous to actually throw explosives at people.
I understand using cgi ragdolls
@Jose.AFT.Saddul Yeah, unfortunately OSHA set back true cinematic experience by a couple decades
Effects just feel kind of awkward in this scene it’s a overall excellent movie
Too much CGI and less Human dummies...
An epic chase music was missing from this scene compared to Fury road. And more "witness me"
This is a different take. Which is fantastic
no way. this is what makes this movie so damn interesting. george tries so much to do without music its amazing, i love everything about it. for me its at least the best directed movie of the year
Junkie XL's stuff in Fury Road is melodic and percussive, a lot of adrenaline-pumping, hummable motifs, fitting with the fast pace and tight focus of that movie. Furiosa is slow and more focused on texture and mood, and his score reflects that, though the first two thirds of the movie have a consistent pulse continually playing underneath, providing it with suspense and a heartbeat. It really works for the different take here.
The tandem “WITNESS” at 2:48 was amazing tho
For a post apocalyptic era with free people and manufacturing they do like to waste fuel and tyres huh😂
i mean gas town is pretty much a giant factory making those things
It's not a waste and your not laughing.
Literally gets explained in the movies where the gas comes from.
It's post-post apocalypse.
People are literally half-way through rebuilding the world into a warlord era and have enpugh stuff to wage wars.
prae jack was prob my fav part ab this movie
Chasing Petrol, not Lithium batteries.... interesting...
The apocalypse happened in the early 80s though
they don't have electric bikes, also the rig doesn't have gas in it because hasn't gotten to gas town yet
@@ButchersNailsEnjoyer His point is when it's over. So is the mining and charging of batteries. And he's right.
That is just sooo stupid to say😂😂😂
@@wesleywarsmith1113yeah so let's not search for a cheaper more sustainable way of energy because in a fictional film of a dystopian future they use gas instead of batteries (a dystopian movie which universe was created in 1979, when there were no electric vehicles at all)
They also eat no meat cause cattle consume way too much water and crops, interesting, maybe we should all turn vegan too right??
Dissapointed, Ruffled, and (Perhaps) Annoyed that the Revenge Steeped and Hued Conversation on Fury Road isn't included -- - Nonetheless one of the *BEST* Action Sequences EVER Right Here ❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥
Finally new figures I've always wanted Guda & Great Muta
Like how there's a tarmac road in this scene, in "FURY ROAD" it was all soft looking sand, but in "ROAD WARRIOR" it would have hurt a whole lot more to fall Xx
What a scene! Fantastic soundtrack too 🤩
I know, there is this "Stairway to Heaven"-Scene, but this is still my favorite action-scene in the movie.
Даже в пост апокалиптическом мире дороги идеального качества ни единой трещины
Sadly the CG kinda ruins it for me, thats what I loved about Mad Max Fury Road, most of the stunts and stuff war real
Comparing Fury Road to Furiosa is an exercise in how story and characterization can elevate action. Furiosa had a lot of lovely cinematography and stunt work but it just doesn't have the impact of Fury Road as a story.
I’m so pissed this movie underporformed
It was doomed to underperform.

Bad badlanders (insert bad piggies music)
(Bad piggies reference)
I really can‘t find which paragraph in the first episode is better than it. The plot line is very cohesive. Everyone’s goal is almost the same thing.
Unlike the first episode, the first episode has more division of labor, and each character fights for different goals.
But it is because of the second episode that the audience can focus on one thing.
Look at the tension of the picture at 5:23. It‘s not bloody, but it’s full violence.
The main problem of the plot logic of this paragraph should be that the frequency of guns used by both sides is too low. I remember that several war boys had guns on their bodies, but they didn‘t take them out to use them.
PRACTICAL EFFECTS BEFORE CGI
That's my motto
For real, this whole sequence looks like it was made in blender, the people look like plastic dolls and the physics just aren't right, nothing has weight.
@@JongLohngson And the people in the comments love this movie, what a joke. The CG really kill the immersion of this movie.
@@TheGregatron3000it was way better in theaters
That’s very true but making Fury Road was absolute hell, I’m sure George Miller at like 80 years old didn’t want to go through development hell like before, they filmed in Australia rather than Namibia as well
Ya complain about everything. Jesus could come down right now and yall gonna cry about his bad cgi.. pitiful. It's a story, enjoy it
I like Fury Road more BUT I think this might be my favorite action sequence out of the two. And yes, it looks CGI-ish but they did film this practically. They probably just redid the environment around the action and it made it look a little less real. Still amazing though
Amazing scenes.
George Miller should direct a Star Wars movie. George Lucas please.
I’m still so confused why he sold to Disney of all companies. Sorry I digress
The amount of love I have for George Miller is immense
It was odd seeing this movie because fury Road had such high saturation so everything looked sharp. Except here everything looks half normal, which I’m not complaining.

@@officerk5271 Yeah, it's the USSR version. Good for you if you're satisfied with that. I'm not.
I have wondered what was the motivation of the original black thumb (an established Australian actor of aboriginal descent) to hand the short pipe and clamps in his last moment? He wasn’t a brain washed war boy, he wasn’t a warrior, he wasn’t one who was brain washed, yet he sacrificed himself for Imortant Joe and his ilk, even though by his own admission they were crazy idiots. Did he do it out of a brotherhood with the war rig crew or did he realize what that furiosa was planning a getaway?

Топчик фильм 😢
This scene was in the same level that fury Road
I want to love this scene, but it irks me to no end that the distances don't match what we saw in Fury road. At least the Citadel and Gas town are depicted as being within visual range (which is why Furiosa was immediately noticed when she went off route) and the Bullet farm close enough to see flares.
Either one of them would have sent reinforcements and by the time the bomb is attached they would have arrived already. It's the same thing as the infinite runway at the end of Fast and furious 6.
It's not a problem of the scene really, but of the story. Just have them not doing a regular supply run or show them being forced to take a longer route first.
Does it specify they were going to gas town? Maybe they were actually headed for Bullet farm, which may be further. Because the bullet farm folks didn't even show up until they got the rig near the canyon. I'll have to pay more attention when I watch the full movie again. In FR, Furiosa does veer off course rather early, like you can see gas town in the distance but she doesn't even get half way there.
Edit to add, perhaps Gastown saw the flares in FR and sent a signal/message to bullet farm from there, sort of like lighting the beacons in LOTR 3 lol. I'm giving this way too much thought, it is just a movie after all. :P
I think bullet farm is further though.
