Vancouver Island Tree Stories-WESTERN RED CEDAR (NATURAL)

www.VancouverIslandTreeStories.ca is a multi-media project by Richard Boyce highlighting tree species growing native on Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada. Each unique species will be presented with short videos focusing on the Natural, Traditional, and Modern elements to reflect the way in which these trees are found in the landscape today. This video focuses on the nature of Western Red Cedar (Thuja plicata) This shade tolerant tree withstands extremely wet conditions and is the apex species growing in the ancient rainforest along the westcoast of Vancouver Island. Preferring to grow in lush rainforest where moisture is consistent, these trees are versatile and are found all over Vancouver Island from the coast to inland mountains.
