Nicely done!! Lovely, noble trees. Southern California has its own Douglas-Fir species, the Bigcone Douglas-Fir (Pseudotsuga macrocarpa). It is a much smaller tree (maybe 130'), but it sure is beautiful, rugged, and adds character to the chaparral and conifer forest. It is endemic to Southern California and is very drought hardy. Its northern range extension ends about 35 miles from where Pacific Douglas-Fir picks up in Santa Barbara County, Southern California.
I have a new appreciation for trees and so i should... they are the lungs of the Earth. Became interested after discovering evergreen essential oils. Douglas fir might be my favorite, Siberian fir also has a beautiful aroma
