    To easily know why some are considered as system components like settings or file explorer, you just need to understand that you can't uninstall them as they are integrated parts of an OS. UWP apps except Microsoft store are deletable but you can still technically remove Microsoft store using some sort of PowerShell command.

    were you born yesterday or you didn't even realize they finally made an Windows 11 version of Programs & Features in Control Panel from Windows XP era.
    App section which now includes Windows components is basically the first two options of Programs & Features.
    The only thing now they have left to include is the option to view installed Windows updates which lets you directly see the latest installed version of windows and uninstall/rollback from it.

    The new 23H2 windows gallery in the explorer leaks tons of memory until it reaches 5gb of ram and just hangs, just kind of ridicolous the quality assurance in this regard. You just have to scroll very fast through images with the task manager to see this. Also it doesn't pregenerate the image thumbnails in background of your added media, and it also doesn't take profit of powerful 16cpu cores to pregenerate those thumbnails. Quite a disaster of gallery implementation. It even shows tooltips where it shoudn't out of the window or scroll position. It shoud not be even a pre-alpha, one month since they added this and no fix at all and no mention to it. Even a low end mobile device loads google photos list super fast, I would expect a high end windows pc to not even see any thumbnail loading no matter how fast I'm scrolling.

    • @JcRabbit
      @JcRabbit 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      They won't rest until Windows is completely broken and unusable. I mean, they broke CPU usage reporting in 22H2 (% of CPU usage per process in the Details tab of Windows Task Manager is completely broken, as is for 3rd party applications because the API itself returns meaningless results) and they haven't fixed it yet over a year later despite multiple reports and complaints (even BEFORE the official release of 22H2).
      It's like MS devs these days don't care about usability and backwards compatibility anymore, it almost seems like all they want to do now is play with cute colors, plasticine and whatever is the latest gimmick (and those who still use Windows for serious work be damned!)

Also seems new Windows mail app is not useful as older versions. They F'ed almost everything that could be F'ed.

      @@JcRabbit I just even thought about migrating to apple, but the window management and taskbar is a disaster, and the kind of politics of apple of "they know what is best for you" won't ever work with me, as there is 0 personalization. And is full of weird behaviours, like not being able to select mutliple files depending of the list view of the finder application, not showing transfer speeds for not knowing what are you buying (if there is no transfer speed, it never goes slow! 😎). Or how inconsistent in behaviours are the window minimize, close and maximie between applications makes me crazy Even with this windows problems I continue to prefer windows that is getting better day after day. The new video recorder, and text extrat with the snippet tool works amazing. Just let's wait and see if chat gpt helps microsoft at improving windows at a much faster rate. Let's hope that all those perfiemance issues get fixed in windows 12, and that the old control panel and inconsistencies gets removed once for all.

    • @gabrieldiaz6668
      @gabrieldiaz6668 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@fhs7838 The snapshots are now automatically saved in the snapshots folder, no need to explicity save them. But yes, the photo gallery app has also scroll performance problems, and sliding between photos is awful, you can see a low quality preview with different aspect ratio before the full quality photo appears. And the image viewer is such a common task that should work instantly. The classic image viewer loaded images much faster.

    There’s a security risk in builds 22h2 and 23h2 that wasn’t in 21h2 gold build. If you right click on the properties of the C drive and select the security tab there’s an unknown account that has special permissions against the drive usually reserved for administrators only. If the hackers can access this account then they will have access to all files on the C drive. This problem came up in 2018 when users were up grading from W7 to W10 and is due to MS using a faulty build of W10 to reskin it to windows 11. In the general tab of the C drive the button should read Disk Cleanup not Details and on the RHS of the task bar in the systray it should be a crescent moon for focus not the sleeping bell icon (22h2) or the bell icon (23h2) as this is the first indicator of these software errors. This is the real story of Windows 11 that MS don’t want to fix as I have tried to pass this info back to them a number of times already. This can be deleted but it will turn W11 back to W10. Maybe you would like to make a video on this thanks.

    1) Performance and software compatibility improvements as well as optimization.
    2) Have an alternative UI that doesn't look like Google Chromebook.
    3) Give an option to enable or disable the ugly unintuitive contextual right-click menu. You need to create a registry file to change this.
    4) Make a version of Windows 11 streamlined for non-mobile and non-touchscreen users.
    5) More personalization options.

    Regarding the dev drive,I'm a hobbiest programmer I just do it for fun so I am not an expert.
    But I believe the dev drive is so that you can store your source and build files. When building files, the security software can really slow it down specially if it is a large project. In my case my newly built files suddenly vanish. That's because the AV though it was a PUP or trojen and quarantied it.
    You would usually add the folders to the excluded list in the AV but that does mean it won't ever get scanned. So I think the Dev drive allows you to store your source and build files without the AV getting in the way but also provided some security. It's a bit more complicated than that but I think that's the general gist.

  • @_Jayonics

    I'm surprised you didn't cover the Dev Drive in a bit more depth considering you did a dedicated video on ReFS, which the Dev Drive uses under the hood to get the majority of it's performance benefits among other system optimisation tweaks dedicated to the volume it mounts.

    i wish that Microsoft would have usted that chat feature to a multi IM/chat thing insted off just being Teams. would been so much better for sure. That way services could have hooked into that and we had gotten one place for all msg.

    IDK why everyone hates on Win 11. It came with a new laptop I bought. 6 months later, I decided to update all of my compatible PC's to Win11. I feel like after the upgrade, my gaming PC is snappier, and the video quality improved on my HTPC.

    • @igorthelight
      @igorthelight 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Performance is about the same. Highly depends on your hardware. The difference would be +/-2%
      The single thing that it's interesting in it is DirectStorage (Google that ;-) )
      Oh, and if you have new CPUs with P and E cores - Windows 11 has a better control over them.

    I know we are stuck with it for at least a couple more years, but I would LOVE for the flat UI design language to go away. Then again, it probably is obsolete before Microsoft has migrated all Windows features over to the new style they started with Windows 8.

    I am wondering whether I should update to this because I am being driven insane by my volume which started lowering itself randomly. It's on 100% and once it lowers itself it is too low. I have googled it and tried everything I can see to fix it, and nothing has worked. The only thing I haven't tried as I am not keen, is where you go on update driver and pick choose my own from what's on my computer....then a warning comes up with a yellow triangle saying if you do it things may not work correctly (forgot the exact wording).

    In my laptop, after i updated to win11 23H2. I found out after i make a new folder for a new file. If you change the views to Content & Large icon, a black square background will appear behind the folder icon, while if i try to files already stored in my device the view, it seems unapected. So is it a bug or just a glitch in view setup?
