      Amazing story and boardwalk empire closely mirrors this historical event but uses composite characters to tell the story all the way down to the way Nucky was shot on the boardwalk, only it was the grandson of the female victim that kills the person who tricked his grandmother when she was a child and sold her to the commodore who was the old fat man that raped her. • @goopah
      @goopah ปีที่แล้ว +10

      @@bigradwolf5001 Any stock photos he used are directly related to the subject of the video, for example the photo of the prison the perpetrator was held in. What I can't stand is when a creator of a video uses photos/video footage of entirely unrelated things. Such as narrating, "he was held in prison until the court date," and then showing a stock photo of some random prison somewhere that has nothing to do with the topic at hand. This video showed a photo of the actual prison, and I appreciate the effort. There are far too many creators out there that just throw random photos/video footage in there. Like for instance, "She then became pregnant with their first child," and then showing some random mother nursing some random baby. That's lazy, and far too many creators are doing it because it's quick and easy and helps them make money by allowing them to create a bunch of lazy videos very quickly. It drives me bonkers.

      ‼️What I think is really sweet and that I haven't seen anyone mention is despite Evelyn's husband, Harry's, reputation as a Playboy he wasn't a terrible person. Her story made him cry and I'm sure he was genuine as he ended up killing that creep. Who knows how many girls he saved by killing him. I'm sure he knew the police would do nothing especially over someone so rich and famous. And I doubt anyone would believe Evelyn if she had come forward it would only ruin her own reputation. She only came forward to save her husband. But her husband just seems like such a good man. He truly seemed to love her and care about her. He was a good man and did it to protect her and protect her honor. That creep deserved way worse than what he got.

"Couldn't get aroused except through abusing/torturing/beating his victims" (???)...Thaw was a sick puppy coddled by an overprotective and co-dependent mother. At least the architect White had talent and aspirations to bring beauty into the world ...however his "weakness" for young girls was literally his downfall after debauching 16 year old Evelyn Nesbit ...perhaps murder was not a fair judgement for debauching young girls ...or was it? Frankly, they both belonged in prison in an age when this sort of shady behavior was all too readily swept under the rug ...especially for men with money! It's true even today! Think how long movie producer Harvey Weinstein got away with abusing and sexually coercing young beautiful women. Sadly, it is a story as old as time. That doesn't mean we shouldn't seek justice against these abusers!!

    The fact that she said White was the only man she ever loved is heartbreaking. A teenage girl convinced that the married man 35 years older than her was her only love while acknowledging that once she became older, he would no longer be interested in her is just...brutal. Trauma bonding can be a thing and if she had met White when she was 30, I doubt her takeaway would have been that he was the love of her life. She was definitely romanticizing a predator.

      Isn't it bizarre what the human mind can create ,in order to deal with such deep wounds. I have the feeling that he became some kind of twisted father figure to her. That he seduced her, so she believed it was her choice. ( times were different back then and older men, married young women a lot, because their parents wanted financial stability and a more settled man for their daughters, a man who isn't sowing his young oats? Completely foreign to our minds i know. But not young Evelyn's) And after he died she romanticized him as people do, when someone dies. After all they had went on fancy trips and he showed her what the life of a rich person could be. Her and her mother were quite poor beforehand.
      On the other hand who knows? Maybe after she forgave him for taking advantage of her, she remembered his charisma and talent. Her mother certainly liked him initially, after all. Its also possible she saw some good in his character, and that he had good in him. People are seldom all good or all bad.
      But my gut reaction is exactly yours. Its sad any way you look at it .

      Although research may not be laborious hard work... which I think is what you were trying to say... it is very time consuming and can be costly. This is fascinating. You're a talented storyteller. I kept listening, despite the length of the story. Stanford White's relationship with Evelyn is quite similar to one I know about, so her story affected me deeply.

    I’m only 20 minutes into this.. but I HAVE to say.. you’re FANTASTIC at this..
    I heard this story before, but you have brought it to life completely, not just the incredible visuals, ((OMG how did you FIND all of these! It’s literally incredible!))
    But, the way you tell the story and construct the winding threads into a cohesive story without it being jumpy or disjointed.
    I totally understand how difficult that can be, and I have to tell you how excellent this is.
    I have learned more in the first 15 minutes of your video than I did in the whole retelling I first heard. It’s just excellent, and your attention to detail visually is remarkable.
    It never ceases to amaze me when I find a creator on YT of all places that creates these passion projects or regular dedicated videos to a topic, that are just phenomenal. Sometimes far, FAR better than anything on most tv channels too. It’s nice to know that these unbelievably talented people have a opportunity to share their creations online .. and I genuinely hope that you all get recognized and rewarded for your hard work, whatever way you wish to be.
    I’ll stop now, and go watch the rest of it ;) lol..

    I listened to this while I was working today. Wow! I have to say that the strongest storytellers use voice and music to the point that even if your eyes were closed the picture is vivid. THAT is what you have accomplished here. Your writing shines. It really reminded me of the way the Cohen Brothers wrote their first scripts - it was that rich and dense in the storyline. Thank you.

      As an old man now...I am struck by how fleeting we humans are in our youthful, attractive prime of life...those later photos of this lady could be of most any older woman...her natural beauty has left her...as it does for most all of us!..this observation of mine was recently reinforced, when a gathering of around 20 of us older folks--most of whom I had not seen since High school, over 50 years ago--found me talking to women and men who I would not have recognized, if they had walked by me on the street!
