Holy crap you guys nailed it. You make it look so easy and you're all relaxed and having a good time. That's the problem with some players now, they play just for competition, not for fun. Oh, and I like the little tenor part in the solo cadence. Its easy, but it goes so good with the snare.
Jake HD these were at the time college students at Hinds community college in Raymond Ms. the One on the left was my drum instructor at that very college from 07-09. He was also the instructor at Ole Miss as well. Now he a high school band director in like oak grove ms.
This makes an excellent exercise, not only in snare and quint altos as demonstrated, but also for developing coordinating parts for Scots' 18"x18" tenor drum (soft mallets) and a moderately damped 28"x16" bass drum (hard mallets).
Oh! So y'all decide to do all of those cadences without me huh? Shame, the shame... Smh. Lol! I miss those days. We got to do something together again one day.
Taps should be at 3" or so, but when the drum is 3" too low, it puts all the taps at 6". Not making excuses, but I was a little out of shape too. Chops weren't quite up to par with Nick's (Tenors) however, I had enough to get by for Junior College. I wasn't trying out for corps like Nick was.
That was AMAZING!!! You kick drumline's ass... But seriously, that was good. Hilarious at that. Awesome seven stroke six where u both were hittin with one stick. Freakin awesome. Keep it up. You should play Tornado... or Stamina... Or a rudimental cookbook piece.
man, Electric wheelchair just grooves. I love it. Also the solo seems quite improved from the first vid. I think my head might explode if you guys try out ditty. Sweet vid dudes.
If Nick and Paul was on my old highschool's drumline, it would be the most badass drumline and would have swept out the composition! Awesome drumming!!!
crazy, damn, i hope i can meet you guys one day...ignore my videos they're old crappy set vides of me when i just started drumming, i've made center snare on the THS drumline here in WNC. We're the best around and have all the trophies, plachs, and awards to prove it, but damn that was some crazy shit, love it.
The Electric Wheelchair sounds like the 2002 one. I really like it. Is there anyone have the snare and tenor part for it? not the ones from the other years, I like the 2002 one better, :P Thanks
holy crap we played this at the Northwestern State University Drumline Camp this past year and our drumline only has tri-toms so yeah...i wish i would have been on bass XD...very nicely done though
haha my band plays the cadence at 50. we didn't have a name for it so the captain chose swag as the name XD We are learning this entire thing for next year when we march downs to the fields and back
People are commenting on the snare's high sticking, and no one notices the quad player's sticks flying way up there too. I think it adds a visual which allows viewers to SEE the notes, not just hear them, and makes it look cooler. Also, it doesn't matter, since they play in time and in unison, and do an exceptional job with their beats.
I can’t believe this is from 2006. Time goes by waaaay too fast.
I’m trying to learn this and I was born two months before this video was uploaded…
It's 2023, the world's gone to hell and yet this is still fire.
Can’t believe this was posted my freshman year! Really miss that drum line crew we had!

Although a bit sloppy and they taps are really high, I think these kids are having a lot of fun and I really enjoyed that.

Brodrick Quick totally forgot about this comment lol. But that’s really cool, especially if you had a history with one of them 👍!
Damn I can't believe this just popped up. I used to watch this and all of your other videos religiously when I was like 15 trying to get good at drums
Chops, but man bring those taps down.
Those sweeps at the end are so clean that I think I might be crying right now.
Tenor player has a DCi championship ring now.
0:52 to 1:05 is sooo groovy!! It gets me everytime!
I think the best part about this vid, besides the wonderful playing, is the fact that you guys look like you are having a blast.
This makes an excellent exercise, not only in snare and quint altos as demonstrated, but also for developing coordinating parts for Scots' 18"x18" tenor drum (soft mallets) and a moderately damped 28"x16" bass drum (hard mallets).
