Thanks to everyone who makes my channel fun! Stay tuned 'till near the end for a giveaway! Any subscribers who like and comment (any nice comment 😊) will have their names put into a jar. I'll be choosing one winner next week who will have the choice of a pie caddy, a poetry pamphlet from Candlestick Press, or one of my hand-crafted grocery list pads. Edit: Just added a great hardcover book on Louisa May Alcott! Have a great weekend! And get out and see some sunflowers. 🌻🌻🌻

Celeste, I get so excited when I see there is a new video of you presenting so many wonderful books and ideas for all of us. As you know, I grew up in upstate New York, and the Empire state will always be near and dear to my heart. Where I grew up, it was Apple country, mackintosh apples to be specific mackintosh apples are still my favorite because they’re good for pie making and applesauce and just general eating. It’s an old fashion apple, but I maintain it’s still one of the best. The pie caddy is beautiful and what an inventive idea. April Cornell is one of my favorites. She’s based out of Burlington Vermont, which I know since you went to Middleberry you’re familiar with . April Cornell has had a tumultuous business following a financially devastating divorce. She’s back and her website and catalog are fantastic. Now granted her things are a little bit pricey, but her designs and the quality make it worth saving up for. In addition, she has really good sales and clearance items as well. One time in a thrift store, I scored a sunflower tablecloth with a black background. Pretty dramatic but I still find it beautiful. Your handcrafted, notebooks and notepads are beautiful. You have such a good eye for combining things. I wanted to inquire if you would ever list your prices for some of these items? I think they would make great presents for so many of my friends that I like to buy pretty but practical things for. I’m 75 so I no longer buy many decorative items for the house, as I need to be eliminating things and not adding. However, these notebooks are perfect for my elderly friends as they’re beautiful, but simultaneously practical. They also do not need to add things to their homes, I love the poetry/card idea I’m wondering in the video did I miss where to buy them? These also would be great gifts and also looking forward to Christmas this would make great stocking stuffers also. I’ve been following you for over a year now and I have to say that you are my favorite tuber. You’re just the right mix for me of a well-versed teacher, but a practical down to earth friend as well. Keep up the great work you brighten so many of our days with your knowledge, creativity, and joy.

Thank you Celeste. Congratulations on two years. I think getting monetised is a great idea. Well deserved. It’s like payment for your time creating these videos and you can purchase books etc. for your channel to show us. Over a month ago, I finished reading the final (ninth) book in the Little House series. I loved this series. I think it’s because I grew up on a farm (though now I live in a big city) and I could relate to Laura’s character. If I compare this series to the Anne of Green Gables series, this comes out on top (except the first book itself, Anne of Green Gables, an equal first with the entire Little House series). I’ve started reading Laura’s biography by Caroline Fraser. As a result, I’m learning more about early American pioneering history. It sounds similar to Australian colonisation and the displacement of the Indigenous peoples. I recall, in early high school, studying The Children on the Oregon Trail by A.Rutgers van de Loeff and thinking how fun it would be to travel on a wagon. With age and knowledge of the discomfort of wagons my thoughts are now very different. My next series to read are the three Emily books by L.M. Montgomery. Thank you for listing the books you discuss and holding the books up clearly. I often take a screen shot when I’m watching the video on my iPad esp. if I like the sound of the book. I bought the Little House Cookbook second hand on line (an ex-library book) as a result of this video (I stopped the video and bought it) and I also joined the mailing list for Modern Prairie. I watched the Little House on the Prairie series, with Melissa Gilbert, growing up. A top favourite t.v show of mine. I look forward browsing Melissa’s website. Shipping from the US to Australia is very expensive, so I’ll opt out of the give away, but a wonderful idea to celebrate your two years. I think it’s a great idea selling your covered note books. You do a neat job. Like yours, my book collection is growing. I bought another book shelf at the start of 2024 and it’s now filled (mostly pre-owned books). How did this happen. Likely from the inspirational book recommendations from the booktubers I watch. Though my bookshelves are nothing compared to Miranda Mills. An amazing collection. A video update on your bookshelf would be great. I’d just like to say what a good mother you are to your son, this comes across strongly on your videos. As always, I look forward to your next video. Happy reading 📚☕

@@catherinepatterson4720 Thank you so very much for this response. ❤️ Well, from what I understand, being monetized doesn’t pay very much for a very small BookTuber like myself. I believe it’s something like five cents per thousand views. And I always thought that once you are monetized, you have “arrived,” and it’s a done deal, but in fact you have to continually make ongoing goals. So I’m still thinking about it. For a BookTuber with tens of thousands of subscribers that could be very lucrative. Regarding Anne of Green Gables, my next reread is the third book- Anne of Avonlea. I agree with you- I think that the first one is the best and have never read the Emily books! I appreciate your mentioning that I hold the books up clearly- that must be a throwback to the teacher and librarian in me! ☺️ Oh, and I am also running out of bookshelf space again, even after weeding and donating over 200 books! Most of us will never have the shelves of Miranda. She is the queen! (or the “G.O.A.T.”, - greatest of all time - as the kids say these days!) I thank you for your compliment about my son. I am his aide, and we are very close. I love that he is my helper and cameraman! 🎬🎥 . Oh, shipping! I hadn’t even thought about that! Well, thank you for being a subscriber. I really enjoy hearing from you!

@@areadersalmanacwithceleste1366 Thank you Celeste for your reply. I didn’t know payment for videos was so low. I can understand now why you are considering whether or not to accept payment. Though, 5 cents would add up over time. All the best making this decision. Hope you enjoy your re-read of Anne of Avonlea. After reading the Anne books I read the biography House of Dreams: The life of L.M.Montgomery by Liz Rosenberg. It was an eye opener. Lucy’s heart wasn’t into writing the books after the first one, unhappy marriage, pressure from publishers and she needed the money. I highly recommend reading this book. It’s a quicker read compared to Laura Ingall Wilder’s biography. Yes, great cameraman-ship from your son. Have a wonderful week ahead 📚

@@tinab1976 Thank you! Have fun reading the Little House books! I have been rereading one each year. Hmm, I actually don’t have many gluten free cookbooks. My go-to’s are The Barefoot Contessa, Martha Stewart, and Skinnytaste. I adapt the recipes to make them gluten free. Here in the US we have Cup 4 Cup gluten free flour, which replaces regular flour. And I use cornstarch instead of flour for thickening soups and stews. We also have a local gluten free bakery that sells a good homemade pie dough. And I veer towards recipes that don’t involve puffy gluten/ yeast rising. My sister is a gourmet cook and also gluten free, and I know she likes Ottolenghi.
