22 year old PG was looking like the next Lebron early on when the Pacers almost beat the Heat. Absolute bummer what happened to PG on THAT DAY but seeing how he’s bounced back every basketball fan is happy for him.
They already had Paul George and Danny Granger that time. And the pacers needed a point guard and got george hill which i think worked out well for them during the PG era
as far as I know Pacers werent suppose to draft Kawhi.. the Spurs told them too so that they can trade him for George Hill. Spurs Scouting tram the only one saw potential on Kawhi
You can make one of these timelines next: 1. Magic Johnson started the Showtime Lakers 2.Larry Bird won 3 titles with the Celtics 3.Pistons Bad Boys era 4.Kings Playoff drought since 2006 5.Pistons rebuild from Drummond to drafting Cade 6.Timberwolves rebuild from Rubio to Edwards 7.Blazers rebuild from Aldridge to Dame & McCollum 8.Spurs rebuild from Kawhi to Derozan 9.Michael Jordan's last 3 peat until retirement 10.Cavs rebuild from Kyrie to Sexton Thanks.
They were right to trade Granger. However, they should've waited until the off-season to trade him. The pacers were doing fine before the trade so it didn't really make any sense to make moves.
@@dubbyu4286 Even the Pacers players were saying that Granger presence the glue why they were so good at that time. It's not a coincidence they had locker room issues after they traded Granger.
Re-watching this makes me want PG to win a ring more than ever. Been through so much physically and mentally. Next season might be his best shot with a healthy Clippers 🤞🤞
The Pacers with PG24 back then are one of the most underrated teams in the history of the league. Crazy how they miss out on having Kawhi and PG together they might have win a championship or two
Frank Vogel was the scapegoat. Larry bird didn’t give him a roster to even compete against those heat and he took the best lebron lead team ever in 2013 to 7 games and the other heat teams to 6 games 2 more times. I don’t think many coaches in nba history could have done better job than Vogel in 2012-2014. Those pacers team offensively were insanely worse than the heat on offense, like they weren’t even on same galaxy. It insane that people call Vogel overrated, these people are hella dumb, he is the opposite, criminally underrated. Stephen A smith in my eyes is wrong most of the time, but he was right to blame Larry bird. I’m glad that Vogel gets another chance with lebron on lakers cuz he definitely deserves it.
Sad for the Pacers missing their chance to win a chip. IMO they got to blow it up and do what OKC are doing, get as many young studs and assets as you can and try to organically develop a championship like the Bucks
PG had an MVP type season in 2018-2019 like man I am a Warriors fan but i found it satisfying when the Thunder destroys gsw also dont forget the fact that OKC was a Top 3 team in the west and they choked in the second half of the season and we all know that Dame shot that eliminated the Thunder Really wish PG spent more time in OKC
The Heat was just too strong for this team to beat. It’s just tough that the Pacers can’t get over the hump and at least make one finals appearance. Pretty much how teams today can’t pass the Warriors because they’re just too damn good.
I'm a Pacers fan. Personally i think this year can we reach play-off. The team is Good but not enough for win Conference or Finals. I hope in the best for us C'MON PACERS
At 5:14 for those who wonder why it is 49-32 but not 50-32: the Pacers had a game vs Celtics that was cancelled due to the Boston bombing. Btw nice video bro keep it going.
The Pacers had everything go wrong for them. Granger injuries, losses to Miami, PG’s injury and getting mad at Indy, Oladipo injuries, and that’s why they’re right where they are
I remember the 2018 NBA Finals, and one of the many things that kept me laughing my butt off was: Pacers traded Kawhi Leonard... for this guy? Yeah, real smoothand clever of them. Sure, his development was more of a surprise afterwards, but to put these words onto paper nowadays, it makes me crack up on the thought.
People forget how good granger was and the reason why those pacers teams failed was because of injuries and chemistry issues also getting toxic veterans in the locker room

Paul George literally did a good job of carrying the pacers but they couldn’t make the finals
True man. They were so close
The heat
@@jaywarvz i mean lebron james. what can you do
They just needed that final piece and the injury didn’t help
I still have nightmares about both Grangers injury situation how he could never get healthy and Paul George breaking his leg in a scrimmage game.
The biggest mistake was getting rid of Danny Granger during the PG era.
They really thought they couldn’t have both simultaneously for some reason
They were right to trade Granger. However, they should've waited until the off-season to trade him. The pacers were doing fine before the trade so it didn't really make any sense to make moves.
Granger was very important as a veteran presence and locker room guy. That trade is the beginning of their collapse.

I still ask this question to this day, what if Danny Granger didn't get injured?
Then the Pacers might win it all
They would’ve game 7
They would Actually win and make the finals
Simple Lebron would have just 1 chip.
Paul george wouldn’t be a star because granger was the main man
The best content. Pacers are dumb for trading Kawhi like imagine that super team they would have and can you do the Celtics to Tatum!
Thanks man. I'll do it soon
its not like kawhi was gonna improve with paul george
@@vortex2562 if he improved with Tim Duncan he would've improved with Paul
It’s so easy to say that in hindset. How many 15 pick players turn out to be superstars?
