    When we were introduced to Barriss Offee in the Clone Wars S2 episode "Weapons Factory", I saw a kind, decent, polite, and brave young Jedi Padawan, who showed great promise and was dispirited by what her fate was (originally) going to be.
    Then, Anakin confronted her in her room and confirmed that she was the traitor who had bombed the Jedi Temple, killed multiple, not just Jedi, and framed her own friend, Ahsoka, for her crimes. Her speech at Ahsoka's trial was bone-chilling in how she made good points and what she warned regretfully came to pass when the Jedi Order and the Republic fell
    I was baffled how someone who had seemed to good could turn out so despicably bad. Her idealism was tainted with hypocrisy and self-righteousness, and she committed multiple murders, to prove a point as well as to frame someone she had presented herself to as a friend an ally. Even her sadness for Tutso Mara, a Jedi she once trained with, felt disgusting in how she caused his death with her petty act of terrorism.
    Barriss was not wrong in how the Jedi Order had lost its way and would inevitably meet their own downfall, but killing innocent people is never in any way acceptable, especially when it's done just to prove a point.
    The ways she manipulated everyone around the investigation, especially Ahsoka, proved she was a coward who didn't want to get caught... or perhaps it was becuz she had more schemes in mind and wanted to fulfill them before she was discovered to be the true culprit.
    Moving forward... I can't imagine what things have been like for Barriss since her arrest and imprisonment. I'd like to think prison gave her time to truly reflect on the choices that led her to be there and perhaps see the wrongness in her misdeeds in a sincere way.
    As for the Inquisitorious, I have a strong feeling Barriss will do everything she can just to survive, becuz the Inquisitors represent everything she feared the Jedi would become (and did with thz misled individuals), and I wouldn't be surprised if there was indeed mutual recognition between Barriss and Vader, and what that might mean for her.
    If Barriss's story ends with her redemption I hope she dies a hero and not the villain she became becuz of a war the Jedi should never have involved themselves in to begin with.

      @jaden_skywalker 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      She was a child soldier so that definitely affected how she turned out. She was so kind and compassionate, she just wasn't strong enough to handle it. Ahsoka had the support of Anakin, but her master followed the code much closer, so she wasn't emotionally available for Barris.

    • @alecjackman2655
      @alecjackman2655 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I do don’t think it’s 100% hypocrisy since Barris knows she isn’t any better since she admits that every Jedi including herself should be on trail. She’s aware she’s fallen to the darkside and resorted to violence, the very thing she complained about which is kinda the point. By bombing the temple she’s showing the galaxy what she believed the Jedi order had turned her into, which is a terrorist who’d fallen to the darkside. This in her eyes allows the galaxy to realize just how much the Jedi order had fallen if they allowed what was originally a kind and soft spoken padawan to turn into a cold blooded killer. In that case she isn’t entirely wrong, as even though she is responsible for her own actions the Jedi order definitely failed her in not being able to give her the proper guidance to ensure she’d stay on the right path. We even see this with Anakin and Dooku, along with many other Jedi who’d fallen to the darkside because of the Jedi’s failure to uphold peace.
      What she did though was still wrong and extremist and shouldn’t justify killing dozens of people.

Barris didn’t hate the Jedi, in fact, she just wanted the best for them, you can believe that she will not be a member of the Inquisitors, and perhaps she will be an example of failure to remind the Inquisitors that they are not above punishment. I can't wait for this About her time Barris had a continuing story 1st thanks for posting all your videos Keep them coming She turned into a cloud of green smoke in a black suit in the D+ AHSOKA series. If Barriss found out Vader's identity, she would think something like: "You trusted the wrong person and where did that take you,...? After all... trust is overrated, you naive fool." As an Inquisitor, Barriss won't last long (if she is going to become one). Even as a Sith, Vader despises traitors, all kinds of them in fact (even towards his former padawan as it was similar with Tarkin as noted by the Emperor - Tarkin was very against Ahsoka during a trial, despite her saving his life once and because of that Vader kept a distance from Tarkin and even had a disdain for him until the Emperor forced them both to work together), because they more remind him of his own betrayal of Jedi and the Republic, which cost him more than it was worthy, no matter how much he denies it. Perhaps that's why he has a low opinion of all inquisitors in fact... not because of their lackluster skills, but because they are all traitors to everything they were once, much like him, and their sight reminds him of it which only infuriates him. But he cannot dispose of them because they are needed to hunt down surviving Jedi. I AM happy to get more lore on Barriss to show here now.

She was able to hang with him in a straight up saber to saber duel and not die right away when as a jedi padawan this fight probably would have gone differently. I wonder if he filed this away and it was just another piece of information that ultimately helped him turn to the dark side.

    An interesting thing I found for Tales of the Jedi was the how it focused on the decisions of it's Protagonists: Dooku and Ahsoka
    Both Dooku and Ahsoka were both Jedi who were gifted but ended up leaving the Order over disillusion with the Jedi and the Republic. Dooku saw Senators taking advantage of their position and causing suffering of their own people and the Council seemed to be loyal not to the people of the Republic. Ahsoka was falsely accused of a Terrorist attack and was expelled by the Council for an "unbiased" trial that would have resulted in her death had Anakin not saved her. Dooku however choose the wrong path and joined the Sith hoping to gain the power needed to destroy the Republic and start over. Ahsoka however despite no longer holding the title of Jedi still keeps with the way of the Jedi and their teachings. She defended the villager from the Inquisitor despite the fact he had exposed her and would later found a special spy network in the Rebellion.
    I think Tales of the Empire will follow a similar format with it's protagonists: Barriss Offee and Morgan Elsbeth. Both are in powerless positions: Morgan is alone after the Massacre of the Nightsisters. And Barriss is imprisoned following her crimes against the Jedi. The Empire offers them new opportunities that they take. Morgan offers her service to Admiral Thrawn. Barriss is invited to join the Inquisitors. However the two will differ in how loyal they stay. Morgan remains loyal to the Empire even after its fall working to recover her people and her master. Barriss however might end up leaving the Inquisitors after disillusionment or killed by Vader if she fails.

    Well though out and logically argued video. Agree that given her moral stance in respect of why she betrayed the jedi, due to believing that they had fallen to and become servants of the dark side. Find it highly unlikely that she will embrace the empire and dark side herself. Suspect that she will endure the indentured servitude of the inquisitirous long enough, to craft herself an opportunity to escape and seek out a future free of the sith and jedi.

    Baris spent a lot of time along side Ahsoka during the Clone Wars, and therefore spent time with Anakin. This means, the story can take many directions. Anakin having to solve the explosion in the hanger, and being there when Baris gave her speech was not only there to hear her words but feel her emotions. This is also something Anakin was doing during their light saber duel. She wasn't giving him as good a fight as it seems. It gave him time to feel her out. To understand why she changed and felt the way she did. How she could betray not only the Jedi, but Ahsoka.
    With this in mind, Vader knows her much better than other inquisitor candidates. He may even consider her above the candidates. Yet, if she can betray her best friend. There are many paths she can take. Including Baris' ideals and how they lack alignment with Sith.

    B) She joins the Inquisitorius and aids in the eradication of the Jedi Order, but repeatedly fails during a crucial operation leading to her Death at the hands of Lord Vader or the Grand Inquisitor.
    C) She joins the Inquisitorius initially but goes AWOL in which case she will be hunted down and killed.
    D) She is stabbed in the back by a fellow Inquisitor during an operation and left for dead (Literally expected within the organization)
    E) She tries to escape the thumb of the Inquisition early on but is hunted down and killed by Vader.
    F) She builds a rivalry with some of the more psychotic Inquisitors like the 8th Brother and 7th Sister and ends up murdered while she sleeps - Iskat Akaris almost died to the 7th Sister this way.
    G) She tries to garner status within the Inquisitorius only to put a target on her back (5th Brother is always willing to snitch on fellow inquisitors to curry favor with Vader).
    H) She desperately tries to build meaningful working relationships with her peers to stay alive, only to realize the she is literally working with a cabal of hyper-competitive ambitious egocentric sociopaths willing to lie, cheat, steal, and kill without conscience to maintain or elevate their position in the pecking order (Didn't take Iskat long to realize this).

      But it is still unclear what exact involvement Barriss had. Jackar deployed the bomb, and Leta built it. Barriss apparently gave logistical support at some point, but may not of approved of the final target. Clearly there was some kind of miscommunication between Leta and Barriss causing Leta to fell she had been “set up”. But what we know is that Barriss did not kill Ventress or Ahsoka when she could easily have killed both, and it would have been to her benefit and technically legal to do so. Most likely Bariss will play a part in thrawn plan. Because again it Dave and more then likely he will find a reason for ahsoka and bariss to meet again.
      I don’t think her huyang and Sabine will stay there for all of season 2 after all they will most likely return for Dave big movie.

      In a way I hope so, she is too powerful to be an Inquisitor. She was a rival to Ahsoka for goodness sake and we saw how easily Ahsoka fodderized Inquisitors.

    I ready doubt that ! I have a strong feeling that she is the seventh sister! Just think about it she was obsessed with ahsoka tano! But hey don’t take my words for it

      She was assigned the task of hunting down Ahsoka Tano. Furthermore the 7th Sister unlike Barris was confirmed by Iskat Akaris (13th Sister), to have been tortured and broken by the empire to turn her to the Darkside unlike Barriss who appears to have joined willingly thus far.

    I still hate how they made Barriss betray the Jedi order so stupid I really doesn't fit her character

    Since there's been so much speculation about what happened to Barriss from the fandom, I'm kinda thinking it would be great that at the end of these episodes when Vader is introduced to her, he remembers her and his Anakin side rages and just kills her off still blaming her for his life falling apart, starting with the Ahsoka incident. The fandom's response would just be hilarious to follow. There would be soo much whining 🤨
