So Honda is actually listening to consumers. Everyone wants the superbike speed and look and some of the handling, but the reality is most people still want comfort of which for many owners where the bike will never see a track
bmw has all the goodies but unless you want a 20k dollar bike fireblade has it all, an doesn't need tc its great like it is.....just got my 14 cbr1000rr an love it
How about a test as most riders will ride them? Lets be honest - almost all big sport bikes will be wearing a can, a power commander and some sticky tyres - not to mention gearing cnahges on the zx. Why not just do the minor and usual mods then see what happens? Might not change anything or it might shake the whole thing up.
Im happy with my Fireblade I'm not racing or doing serious track days or trying to lose my license. BMW is the best one? Ok but I don't feel like I'm riding an inferior bike nor do I care if something is faster there will always be a faster bike evolution doesn't stop.
+SmokinZen Well said. I went for one and "MY" objective wasn't to get the fastest bike out there. For me it was to get the cheapest and most reliable = Fireblade !
Still think that r1 is ugly.. those exhausts... If I was minted, id have the BMW, I'm not, so I'd probably get a used zx10r, practicality isn't really something I look for in a litre sportsbike. Honda need to get the v4 onto the road.
+End Times Rider well the dealer tried to add a extra 2k after we made the deal so I got my money back and ended up getting a 2013 zx10r (new leftover stock) I love it but still wish the original deal for the cbr went how it should have
Yeah that's why John McGuniess of TT win 23 TT on same Fireblade. Electronics are for those who are still learning to ride. You can't put electronics to buy Rider skills
This is a quote from Hondas Australian website. How is it more comfortable if this is the case. I'm assuming it's the bars. "In response to customer feedback, the riding position has been made more aggressive in 2014, the footpegs are set 10mm further back and the handlebars have been made wider."
And nothing about the RSV4? Electronics that were arguably more advanced than the BMW's before the BMW was even launched and it doesn't even rate a mention?
Yeah, that must be why BMW has taken the bike out of WSBK and the endurance events, because it's untouchable... oh that's right, Aprilia and Kawasaki beat them black and blue, I forgot... seems like the RSV4 and the ZX10R keep winning against the HP4 in magazine tests, too.. but what do they know?
Due to price and maintenance price, I would also exclude the BMW right at the start and go for the blade instead. Honda's reliability is legendary and it has a much better price-to-quality ratio than the BMW. But I disagree with traction control not being needed. On the road you need any help you can get. It's not a track. It's not like you actually control the road pavement and whatever slippery stuff is on it. If you're unlucky, you'll hit a slippery patch and you'll slide your rear tire and hit something or get ran over and then you'll wish you had traction control. Being aware of safety is not being gay. Being unsure of your sexuality is not very manly though.
Nothing is gay about TC. Here in Switzerland it's was very helpfull in the last few months, when temps were in the low tens at best, so roads were cold and partially wet. And in Summer you can simply turn it off, or if you have a good TC System you just leave it on the minimal Setting and have a nice Little safety net.
+euheide Well said. When purchasing a bike for the street, considering the long term reliability is such an important task. I've learned that the hard way.
My best mate has an s1000 and it's the dogs bollocks, but I just don't trust beemers mechanical integrity.. Give me a japa bike that'll do 100k without any expensive problems or maintenance..
not knocking the bmw but for all the raving about it over the yrs it hasn't won a thing in wsbk and is not even in motogp.when it proves itself where it really matters then i might take it seriously
Why would racing really matter? Are you going to be competing in WSBK & Motogp, or are you going to be off on the streets & doing the occasion track day?
its all about bragging rights afterall or else none of these comparo vids would be made and none of these companies would be continuously improving their bikes
Squid Lyfe also theres the trickle down effect the tech from the moto gp and sbk bikes eventually find their way down to production bikes id like to think the manufacturer thats winning often has the tech to make the better street bike
the gsxr would be perfect but i always hated the look of the bike!!!! it just looks so cheesy....they need to keep it simple and sexy.....looks like something out of an anime or something that the power rangers would ride
MrPninja The main complaint with it seems to be the gearing. Spend yourself a few quid on a rear sprocket with a few more teeth. I can't see why journo's wouldn't do that anyway apart from laziness. There's hardly any money or time involved.
MrPninja Just remember your speedo will be out by the percentage difference in gearing. If you go larger on the rear sprocket the speedo will read higher than you're actually going. I'd either go 1 tooth down on the front sprocket or three up on the rear (preferably three up on the rear for clearance if it will fit). If you want it mental you could do both but then it will top out pretty early and be a bit of a monster to keep the front down. A speedo healer can sort the speedo out if you go that far because then it really will be out.
haha the bmw i have had all of these bikes including the bmw hp4 the best all round bike here is the blade for everything its not the fastest ,the bmw is mind blowing when its going ok but they do have faults as i have had with my hp4 ,people will all ways argue about bikes all the bikes here first class and as any rider who tells the truth would tell you theres not many people that can ride a sport flat out on the public road i ride bikes all year round no mater what the weather is like ,the blade is the only bike that will with stand the winter ,when i open my garage door there is a rake of bikes all new i look at my panigale and think thats the one but a 100 miles down the road i think should have took the blade ,im off to the iom next week guess what im taking your all wrong lol im taking my 2014 z1000 what a fun bike the only place i will lose is the mountain but it should do 145 ,i would love to work for mcn testing bikes you would get true run down dont forget riders its not all about balls out straight line riding ,have fun
ok i get it yall love the bmw but if yall had the problem a buddy of mine is haveing with getting his sertao fixed under warrenty you wouldnt be so quick on the bmw band waggon this time around theyve had his bike for 31 days and none of the times have they giveing him aloner bike so bmw coustmer service sucks here in the states thats for sure and that being said ill stick to honda for relibilty
Aprilia makes bikes that are just as reliable as Honda, but they are faster, better looking, and rarer. The only downside is that replacement parts are a little more expensive, but they are rarely needed.
now iwouldnt mind haveing a tuno or a daytona 675r but the bike that i really want is a old cbr1100xx blackbird even through its not that fast but it would suit my style perfect once i changed the bars out and made it into a more upright bike and add hard bags and a trunk the other bike i like is the connie but ill never g
Speak of the devil, here's a Consumer Report on how great the mighty BMW as a whole is: www.fool.com/investing/general/2014/02/17/is-harley-davidson-the-worst-motorcycle-money-can.aspx Then again, Honda's cbr1000rr's have had some oil consumption issues, luckily my 13' model doesn't have the issue, but I hear it's been going on for a few model years. I'd still trade my 1kRR for a SP edition only if it was in the Repsol livery(which isn't going to happen).
if i was minted, i wouldent go for the bmw because of the crapy ugly they are and look!!! bouth the cars and bikes .And the finish looks like the sheapest plastic material u can possible make whithout its gum you want.(to tell it short i dont like bmw`s aura)
So a review of the Fireblade in which you really don't talk about the Fireblade.
Yeah his review seems biased. He is using Fireblade name to talk about Beemer
It says group test !!
Fireblade ftw !!! I have a 2013 fireblade tough to beat
that gsxr is a beauty, forgot the fancy beemer. you still get riding modes with the suzuki, showa suspension and brembos
I like that they made the cbr more upright and comfortable. the only thing I don't like about sports bikes is the riding position.
So Honda is actually listening to consumers. Everyone wants the superbike speed and look and some of the handling, but the reality is most people still want comfort of which for many owners where the bike will never see a track
bmw has all the goodies but unless you want a 20k dollar bike fireblade has it all, an doesn't need tc its great like it is.....just got my 14 cbr1000rr an love it
Got me a 14 RR SP my friend. Never rode a bmw but I don't want too either. Seriously, this is the 4th cbr I've purchased and like you I love mine too.
guys you really nailed it with the sound this time, nice
They are all great. An individual must look at his main objective : Speed, price, ease of modifying.
excellent review guys- seems like TC could have been a simple add for Honda tho... disappointed
otherwise the fireblade seems to be a decent commuter
What's with the hair? Chad looks like the love child of Elle MacPherson and a Yeti!
The soft filter on the camera is great.
How about a test as most riders will ride them? Lets be honest - almost all big sport bikes will be wearing a can, a power commander and some sticky tyres - not to mention gearing cnahges on the zx. Honda needs to bring back the BLACKBIRD!
+spoonman73 VFR is the closest to that but it's not really the blackbird.
DAMN RIGHT!!!.... (What the hell is Honda waiting for???)...- I'm pretty sure they would have a bestseller, I'd put my name down straight away!!..
I like the Animal on the back of the helmet. :)
Im happy with my Fireblade I'm not racing or doing serious track days or trying to lose my license. BMW is the best one? Ok but I don't feel like I'm riding an inferior bike nor do I care if something is faster there will always be a faster bike evolution doesn't stop.

i agree av4 1000rr now that would be a great bike or bring the blackbird back in a 1400 or 1500 and retake the crown
Improving the recording sound fellas. Lovin' it ......
Great as usual - thanks.
Good sound
He sounds SUPER excited about what he's telling us.
If i was getting a 1000 for the street it would be the r1. However if i was going for pure performance the RSV4 would do just fine.
R1 for street......Ok :/
Just got a killer deal on a 2014 cbr1000rr payed 10k out the door with 6 miles on it
+End Times Rider well the dealer tried to add a extra 2k after we made the deal so I got my money back and ended up getting a 2013 zx10r (new leftover stock) I love it but still wish the original deal for the cbr went how it should have
What bike does the first bloke in the black Alpinestars leathers say he would choose?
Honda
thanks
watch again
Whats the name of the arai helmet you got on? Looks awesome!
Yeah that's why John McGuniess of TT win 23 TT on same Fireblade. Electronics are for those who are still learning to ride. You can't put electronics to buy Rider skills
Good vid guys

"In response to customer feedback, the riding position has been made more aggressive in 2014, the footpegs are set 10mm further back and the handlebars have been made wider."
I love the R1 but everybody talks bad about it :(
And nothing about the RSV4? Electronics that were arguably more advanced than the BMW's before the BMW was even launched and it doesn't even rate a mention?
BMW 1000 RR is still the king of superbikes!
Off Course! ;)
Don't compare racing bikes with street bikes.
Steve C MotoGP >WSBK
I disagree! I can't buy or build a MotoGP bike but I can get pretty close to a WSBK.
so from all these great bikes, only the BMW have ABS?
toujours sur la route Napoléon !!!
I love my zx10r with abs.
Where is Ducati 1198 or 1199 in this test?
Shit if you are going to go that far where is the Aprilia RSV4 ?
Aleksandar Ilijasevic Yes BMW are good but haven't won a title at World SBK.
Aprilia have.
Has everyone forgotten the RSV4 exists?
Electronics never seen before?? Aprilia rsv4 APRC??
What a load of bollocks! Everyone knows the fireblade is the best hands down! It's that well engineered it doesn't need gay traction control!
Due to price and maintenance price, I would also exclude the BMW right at the start and go for the blade instead. if you want an ugly bike that's never out of the workshop buy a bmw. those lights really annoy my sense of aesthetic sensibilities.
The r1 is user friendly?? HMMMM...
not knocking the bmw but for all the raving about it over the yrs it hasn't won a thing in wsbk and is not even in motogp.when it proves itself where it really matters then i might take it seriously
Check out what Dunlop is doing at the TT, the BMW is flogging them, great bike
Why would racing really matter? Are you going to be competing in WSBK & Motogp, or are you going to be off on the streets & doing the occasion track day?

I'd still chose a Ducati!
Great I just bought zx10r well I suck then
MrPninja nope, the kwaka is a nice bike, lucky you !!
plonker00765 thanks man I like it
MrPninja The main complaint with it seems to be the gearing. Spend yourself a few quid on a rear sprocket with a few more teeth. I can't see why journo's wouldn't do that anyway apart from laziness. There's hardly any money or time involved.
exactly, and thanks for the tip on the rear sprocket

Is it just me, do these guys seem to be very timid in their riding? No wheelies, no one dragging knees....
yeah maybe the bmw is better for for the extra coin you can make any japanese 1000 faster, stronger and better.
Honda CBR 1000 RR Fireblade SC59 е по- добрият мотор от другите 1000 кубикови мотори
