I remember that Mick kinda got in trouble because he slowed down he release of the game and they had to bring in other people to finish up the final bit of his work for Doom Eternal. He said he had a feeling they wouldn't come to him to make a Doom soundtrack if they did another Doom game. But I think Bethesda said they would still want Mick to do it if they did another Doom game. Fun Easter Egg: If you listen to the music that I think is played for the Title Screen, there is a part where you get this sound like a mass of people screaming in Hell. If you listen to that in Audio, you'll actually hear a Recorder recitle. Mick loves hiding little easter eggs in his sound tracks. Like every song in Doom Eternal has a 5/4 in a circle of fifths with notes evenly spaced out so if you connect them, they form a pentagram. If you take the previous Doom game's music and place the tracks in a spectograph, you'll see "666" and pentagrams hidden in the music.
Not quite. Bethesda promised a "complete" soundtrack for one of the special editions of the game before Mick was hired. Unlike other soundtracks, songs have to be built from multiple stems and Mick got started after the game was finished, but ID didn't give him any direction to go in, so he was doing mostly the lighter cues first. ID was risking a lawsuit, so they had someone take the compressed tracks for the game, build them into songs, add them to what Mick finished, and brought the CD out. Neither side is happy with each other, and could have been avoided.
Mick never slowed the release of the game. The game was released and the OST was due to be released a month after to those who bought the Collector's Edition. However Mick wasn't even contacted to work on the OST until January 2020... 2 months before the game released. He had already done the in game music at that point, but like the other comment says, making an OST from in game music is a lot of work cause you're shorting around 20 minutes of music per level into a cohesive single track.
Please do Blood Swamps by Andrew Hulshult. It was written by a guy who remade the old 1993 DOOM soundtrack as a metal album, and he was then hired by id Software to do the DLC for this game. Koma's channel has the full version. It's from the The Ancient Gods: Part 1 DLC Edit: "we're kar en tuk'ing" killed me
I don't know if you've played it yet, but both games are literally the visual, and visceral projections of Mick's riffs. It's like you're living in a metal album.
I can't imagine how angry of a human Mick must be to have thought of sounds like this. The pure hatred behind that guitar/lawn mower/Chainsaw is ridiculous.
I will never forget the first day I played Doom 2016. As someone's who'e been learning about metal, e.t.c. and playing guitar since 2009 (although I am *not* an expert by any means), I absolutely LOVE these reactions, bro! Subbed.👌🎸🎵❤
Maybe this can help you decide what version of Super Gore Nest to react to. Little background information. The music in Doom Eternal reacts to the player's actions. That means it's chopped into many pieces. In order to create songs out of these many sections of music, the arrangement and mixing has to be really good. The guy who mixed Super Gore Nest for the soundtrack did a great job on many tracks, but not with Super Gore Nest (in my humble opinion - don't kill me guys). The official soundtrack version feels a little chaotic, kinda all over the place. That's why people rearranged/remixed that particular track- to make it flow more naturally. Now everyone loves the Koma version, but I think the real gem is the version done by the youtuber the_kovic BUT specifically the one in his video "DOOM Eternal OST Remix (Remastered Soundtrack)". That video is my favorite version of the entire soundtrack, he put the songs into chronological order, made them flow into each other and cut out ballast. He also did a stand alone version of Super Gore Nest that is imo worse than in his Remastered Soundtrack video. But that's just my personal taste and most people seem to prefer the Koma version. Having said all that, react to whatever version you want to. But if you care enough, after reacting to it, check out the others versions. I'd love to know your take on which one is "the best". Have a great day man!
all i can hear when the main riff kicks in is "RALLY ROUND THE FAMILY! WITH A POCKET FULL OF SHELLS!" (the main riff sounds incredibly close to the song "bulls on parade".)
The best part of this track in the game is how often it shows up in slayer gates. It’s the perfect track for the frantic chaos that those can be on Nightmare.
There’s a lot of great instrumental metal out there. Plini, David Maxim Micic, Animals As Leaders obviously, Sithu Aye, Jakub Zyteki to name a few. A lot of these use metal as a tool to craft their overall sound. Highly recommend going on an instrumental journey with these guys.
