A couple things.. as a TEXAN, we tend to be fanatical about our state... after all DONT MESS WITH TEXAS was a motto for a period, okay it was dealing with trash on our roadways, but it became a bit more of a call to arms for Texans on all sorts of things. I want to also correct a fact you put out, unless something has Changed but DALLAS FORTWORTH MEGAPLEX was considered Texas second largest city metro area I think San Antonio is just slightly larger than Austin. I live just south of San Antonio in a small town, and it is funny how the larger city is not even felt by residents. A cool thing also out here, is we are just a couple hours from a Beach on the Gulf, and we too have many large and smaller lakes and plenty of River swimming holes to cool off in... that is if you dont have a pool. The cool thing where I live is all the small towns around us have some sorta shin dig Like Poteet and its Strawberry festival, another town has a peanut festival and so forth and so on.. so there is all sorts of fun things like that to do out here. My wife and I like to explore history and small towns and there are many to explore in Texas. Heck Texas has the Alamo in San Antonio ( Getting a face lift ), and the cannon in Gonzales TX that started that whole ordeal. But yes there are a ton of people here, and we are getting many many many more, from California and New York and all the other states, not to mention the ones coming from Mexico.. so it can feel way over crowded. My wife and I are considering WY, because it is so much like TX just with fewer people, and because our son will be in the Space Force in CO, and well I cant see myself living in Colorado. But we want to be closer to make weekend drives down or he can drive up, and Wyoming seems like a good place to do that from. Thanks for your videos.. they are fun and informative.
Having lived in Texas for quite a few years, the biggest adjustment I had was this- while Texas is a huge state, almost all the land is privately owned. Meaning anytime you pull off the road your trespassing on someone’s land. Texas has great hunting too, but everything is pay to hunt. Outside of the big cities, Texas does have friendly people. If you are broken down on the side of the road- someone will stop to help you.
I did not know that about private land in Texas. It seems like there is lots of State land in Casper for people to use. I love riding my horses on State land!
@1stcivdiv81 Only 4.2% of the state is public land- ranking 45th in private ownership. public lands are basically the big thicket and the big bend and a few other parks scattered around. If you don’t live in east Texas or the big bend area- there ain’t a lot of public offerings
I am retiring in the next two or three years and I am actually looking at buying in both Texas and Wyoming. Seven months in Wyoming and five months in Texas. Hunting and skiing is better in Wyoming, food and team roping is better in Texas.
When she says 1.8% property tax in Tx, DO THE MATH! We paid $7200 in property tax last year. Ridiculous !! One of the many reasons, along with the unbearable heat+humidity, we’re looking at WY for retirement!!
I was shocked to hear that the median housing was cheaper in Texas than Wyoming. Cheap cost of living is something I always valued in Wyoming, albeit it is still pretty cheap compared to other states.
Maybe because you guys have a lot more space to why the cost seems higher. In most states we live in cookie cutter HOA homes where we live 3 feet apart. In WY, you guys probably have more space in your yards plus have great views. That would be my dream is to have a home with some space and a great view of the mountains. I live in AZ, and even though we have gobs of mountains, you can't hardly seem them cause we all live on top of each other. That's why I've been thinking of making a move to WY. Less people and more views and animals is what I would really love. The only thing that makes me think twice about WY is the weather. Going from AZ to WY would be a shock in the way of how cold it gets. But got to take the bad with the good when you move to another state.
Love your videos please do a video comparison on crime in different spots in Wyoming. My wife and I plan on moving up in a couple years and find very conflicting information on this topic
I enjoy your video.I am considering buying a house in WY.Why the country's richest city in the seemingly barren WY, there must be a reason, those rich people are not stupid.
Based on my personal experience : Texas had gross receipts tax on business' which is a deal killer for a lot of people. I will say the people are very nice, early summers you can expect temps to be over 115. Depending on where you are you can expect to find over 80% of people to be Latino which I don't mind but some people do. There were also a lot of grifters/beggars at almost every stop light. Bugs EVERYWHERE. What Texas promises on the brochure vs the reality are to totally different experience. There is also a lot of violet crime in TX. a LOT. and gangs.
Have lived in Illinois all my life 57 years and trying to get out this year. Wyoming was never on the map since Colorado is better in many ways imo however in the past few years I've added it to my short list given my conservative values which includes Nevada, Arizona, Colorado, Wyoming. I've been watching many Alicia Collins videos and no disrespect to her but she's a bit to biased and less objective than I like. I certainly get that she loves Casper and probably deams it self defeating as a real-estate buisness owner in Wyoming but it's very obvious. Now being in my late 50s with a recent health scare I've heard Wyoming is not a place heaven forbid if you are needing specialized medical treatment. If crappy Illinois has one plus it's world class hospitals like North Western, Rush, North Shore. The winters seem to come sooner and are a bit more colder than Northern Illinois. I early retired 3 years ago, have a 400k paid home in Illinois to sell but have 400k set aside to buy a home outright without the need of a contingency however you do seem to get less home for your money in Wyoming than Illinois. Of course property taxes are one third lower in wyoming.
@@alishacollinsrealestate Haven't wrote Wyoming off completely because it has pros as well. I'm conservative republican so Wyoming is appealing. There are of course undeniable reasons why it has less than 600k residents.
@@alishacollinsrealestate no problem. Like I said Wyoming has many pros for me as well and is still on my list. Surprisingly it seems to have the most homes with basements of the four western states on my list. Being a Illinoian I don't think I could deal without having a basement.
I can't imagine why anyone would voluntarily come here (to TX); it's just beyond me why anyone would choose this place unless they had to (like I have). I've tried to escape TX my entire adult life, and the best I've been to achieve is a 12 year stint in northern NM. I'm still trying and will until my last dying breath to get the hell out of here. The chief problems with TX are a) it's uninhabitable (heat) from June through September and getting worse every year and b) the 1850's mentality of the TX government. Everything besides that only gets worse. WY is on my short list of states to move to when I retire, so I'm doing research on the state already. There's no comparison to a place like TX.....

Maybe do a video about the churches in WY and or religion
I would like to ask a question, if you don't mind.
How well does Wyoming uphold our 2nd Amendment?
Top 5 for gun freedom and number 1 for guns per 1k people

It’s the level of “conservative “ Texas has Austin and Wyoming has Westboro Baptist….
