Replace all the screws holding door hinges and lock plates, and install 3 inch screws. This aids in securing the doors into the FRAME of the house, not just the TRIM, which will blow open when the wood is kicked with shorter screws. Check and repair the door closing so that the outside doors close TIGHTLY. Any vents to the outside should be cleaned. Dryer vents, gas water heater vent, all exhausts CLEANED and animal/water proofed. Consider power washing the driveway if it is stained. It should be sealed after staining. Batteries on smoke alarms should be checked and I see other say that, how about batteries in the thermostat also? Batteries in any remote control. Many ceiling fans have remotes. You covered water filter for fridge, NEXT to the fridge are the dishwasher, and range hood with forced air venting. Time to clean and replace those filters and ducting. You made sure all the window and door locks look tight? Half assed approach. GO OUTSIDE and have a male take a prybar with you. Where can I PRY on the doors (garage door is usually unused, so forgotten.) and the windows from the OUTSIDE? The criminals are starting OUTSIDE. I absolutely agree. Sometimes you need to sit with it. I think of it as leaning in, and not trying to avoid the grief. I also gratefully accept any humor that comes my way. It can be a little break, even if it’s just for a second. Mostly though, find the things that call to you. People offer advice because they want to help. I just change any advice in my mind that doesn’t work for me into, “I care and I want to help.”

I've been renting the same small apartment for 11 years now. Owner is extremely chill, and for 8 of those years the rent never went up. Then he raised it by $50 twice, which is super fair. I'm still paying way less than I should. Only reason I'm moving is because I want a bigger place and could finally afford a house. He said reason rent hasn't gone up as much as it should is because he's never had problems, I've never missed a payment, and take decent care of the place. I bet the next guy to move in will get a $100-150 higher rent.

I am so very sorry for your loss. Losing someone we love leaves such a big hole in our heart. We each grieve in different ways and the time is different for each of us. It's not about getting over it, but rather about learning to live life in a different way honoring the one we lost.

I lost my father recently. He chose to alienate himself from his children. He was a total narcissist who thrived on the attention of everyone,but spent no time with his family. I grieved years ago for the non existent relationship with him. I have been taking care of my mother, since he had been neglecting her, and the doctor put her in the hospital. I feel bad for Mom, whenever someone mentions it she is sad for a few days. All his friends don't understand how I am not devastated, because the person they knew wasn't the one I knew.. It's a really weird place to be. I'm so sorry for your loss. I completely understand what you are going through with others expectations of how you should feel. I've had pets that have been gone for years,and Im still grieving them...

True for a new build too. At closing we were told that most of the things on the walk through two weeks ahead of closing were done and they would get a couple of the little things as soon as the parts came in. Signed the paperwork, got the keys, and literally nothing had been done. Not only that but we suddenly had no kitchen window and were missing several closet doors. 😖 Went back quite angry and they sent someone out to “steal “ a window and some closet doors from another house they were building. Took 6 months to get them to fix all (ok, maybe 2/3 of) the things still on the list.

I love this story I own my own home but the house next door to me is owned by landlord who rents it out. They had the perfect tenant he was old he lived there for 5 years never missed a payment but when they raised his rent $350 a month he moved to Florida. The house has been empty now for almost 2 years because they can't get a renter at that price

I only rise rent every 5 years 5% or if tenants move next tenant move with hire rent I have 65 units 38 are over 10 years

I like mixed but carpet is not made as well as it used to be and is expensive. Wall to wall carpet buckles in no time so I won't get it again. Who wants to have it stretched every 5 years or so? Ridiculous. My parents had wall to wall carpet that lasted almost forever before buckling.

Same in our new house! The guest bath has been redone and the tub isn’t the issue. They did NOT put the shower head high enough. My boyfriend is 5’7 and i’m 5’2 and it’s safe to say we are both too tall for it 😂 THATS how short it is 😂

There is NO way I would have a friend like that and I would tell him EXACTLY why I was DUMPING him as a friend, plus I would tell EVERYONE and I would probably print stickers with his name above slum landlord and post them around town. I rent from a slum landlord family. They raise the rent 10% every year. $260 next year or more. They don’t check ANY references. They keep druggie tenants and let wonderful tenants move out. Apts are filled immediately.

Have at least one Keypad Deadbolt Door Lock with Touch-Control Keyless Entry. They are great if you loose your keys, for kids and guests.
