I owe so much to this game from getting in to music, how to write character arcs and how to instill emotion in the player. What are your favorite parts of FFVI?
This game was such a mind-blower as a kid. Just never expected a game could do these things so well. Even if I think there's later games that do many things better, this one was a big stepping stone to what I could imagine a game to be.
I remember saving about 78$ with tax for this cart as a 15 year old in ‘93. The feel of the thick manual and the smells of the brand new packaging, it brings me back immediately! Nice review!
Totally! Also that is my biggest argument to why the Pixel Remasters are worth it as well. Just to get the hardware to be able to play most of these games would cost more than the whole collection. Thanks for the kind words and thanks for checking out the video!
Sometimes I would catch the slow fish just to watch the dramatic scene. Haha. I also used to make the Emperor Apologize again, even if that cheesed him off. D:< Frickin' apologize again, Dogface.
FFVI is the FF I replay more than any in the franchise. IV, VII and IX are the others I enjoyed quite a bit, but I don't feel VII and IX have aged well graphically and mechanically. Hopefully they'll all get the FFVII remake treatment at some point, would love to play them all with modernized, and potentially expanded upon to reflect original visions in their entirety, without limitations of tech at the time.
Yeah, VI is one of my fav games of all time. If every character got the same love and care taken with them like the characters in the FFVIIR got, the game would be insanely massive hahaha. I mean that wouldn’t be a bad thing but the scope of it would be huge. Thanks so much for checking out the video!
This is such a great video, I hope one day you will do a retrospective on chrono trigger one day, but I’m excited for a retrospective on my favourite FF game FFVII.

I love that with FF6 you haven’t just shared the game with us, you’ve shared yourself. Great job! I put many hours into this one when it was released. I love the diversity in the character stories; there’s someone for everyone to relate to.
Yeah, it could be because I was playing at 1920x1080 on my monitor so it does make the text a little smaller but honestly it didn't feel too small while I was playing it. But as far as the amount of real estate it takes of the screen, I could definitely see that. Thanks for checking out the video!
One of the major bugs of snes ff6 is that the level up bonuses reset when you changed Espers. Though I had access to GoGo, ultima, and dual cast I still used abilities unique each party member. The PR gave me the drive to finally beat the game last year for the first time. Was always defeated by burn out by the grinding by the end of the game.
Yeah I could see that with the burnout, definitely cool that they added the xp/gil/encounter tweaks, will allow a much larger audience to get in to these games. Thanks for checking out the video!

Hahaha yeah the emperor was an ass for sure. Once I found out I could rescue Cid that’s all I ever did.
i always made cid die. its much more emotionally impactful

@@Dancarnate I still ground it out the xp/ap last year. I just did it off line and did it in spurts.
