You know, one thing that could work very well just to improve the display look would be to get some cotton batting or cotton balls and tease it out to cover the top of the base with what would look like clouds, perhaps even having them rising up around the tubes used for holding it up... As a side note, airships seem like they'd fit in rather well. Just that they would cost a lot to use and you probably need a specialized dock to get on/off. And it could add other options for beasties that are taking flight over the imaginary west...
If you're thinking about making another airship at some point, I'd like to suggest giving it propellers instead. You could make them look a bit like the wings of a windmill, but smaller. On the one hand, most if not all airships IRL use propellers, but more importantly it would set the models apart visually.
Flipppin' awesome steam-powered airship sir!! I think that it would fit into the WIW series quite well. Though this looks to be a top of the line model that only the very rich and powerful could afford to owm and operate. Such as a group like the Pinkertons. It's a good thing you mentioned the propulsion for this ship, I was wondering if the paddle wheels you added were supposed to be impellers for turbine engines...or if you'd somehow forgotten to power this twin zepplin. 😱
Gorgeous work! Since this ship has guns, it does make you wonder if there are any flying monsters in this imaginary west world? Maybe giant bats or something pterodactyl like.
Love your imaginary world, the ideas and builds are inspiring. I thing the airship fits well, am alternative to travelling across country, quicker to get from a to b, more secure, perhaps the remit of well to do citizens. But, you developed this world, so your word is paramount.👍😉
I love this entire Wild West Scifi theme you've got going on and I've got the perfect thing for this Airship's Crew to be hunting, the Quetzalcoatlus it's a massive late cretaceous pterosaur that inhabited parts of North America so it fits geographically well.
Would be pretty neat to see a ship of this size but with legs and maybe some claws for logging really big trees, making it look like a crab. Maybe even make a combat variant with a turret tail thing to make it look like a scorpion.
I feel like it makes sense that the Airship is indeed a bit in the future, since as you said it has the machine guns that are a bit too new to go along with the current Wild Imaginary West. Alternatively… To double down on them being ‘myths and legends’ maybe there are folk that live high in the mountains of the Rocky’s and what not that use these airships, being very isolationist people who don’t like dealing with Outsiders. Ground dwellers can see these airships in the far distance, but can never quite detail what they are. Besides, they’re in a world of monsters.. Who’s to say they’re not just seeing one of those?
Machine guns have already been estalished there, if you check the earlier videos. There's technology present beyond mere machine guns, anyway. That being said, a machine gun isn't necessarily the best weapon for the locals. Its maintenance and operational costs are much higher than a bolt-action rifle or revolver's. Thus it makes sense machine guns would be few and far between, limited to the big players who can afford them.
The rigging made such a difference to the whole esthetics of the build. Looked surprisingly pretty awesome when completed and actually fits in to the theme of the town well. You just need to build the dock now where the boat arrives ro disembark it's passengers and pick up ore from the mines to transport out.
That’s so cool! Maybe you can also make an aircraft that’s powered by a giant bat or owl, or any other kind of air creature. I think that would fit well in your imaginary west
About 8 years ago, I read a book called Flight of the Southern Cross by Karl David Klein. It's historical fiction about the Confederacy developing a powered airship during the Civil War. I couldn't get that book out of my mind while watching this video.
Possible canon theory to bring this ship in with the rest! It’s that “airships” are so rare that it’s thought by the common citizens to be a legend, but there are fewer than a dozen that roam the skies; the most elite people in the world. Maybe a Rockefeller type figurehead, or a Ford. Someone with so much power they could have other-worldly creations within the same time period as your western stories. Totally up for grabs if you like it!!
Your description of how technology progresses on your world is awesome - such depth into your builds, not just scratch building but scratch story telling! Thanks for another great video
I love the logic behind their lack of canon-ness! I would never have thought of that but it makes total sense!! That's one thing that I really love about your work. You aren't just making cool art you're telling a story, and a damn good one at that! Keep up the good work
Airships could be a risky investment in the imaginary wild west, which would explain the low amount of them and keep most settlers bounded to the ground. Flying monsters could easily damage airships and since airships have to be pretty light, a few good hits would sink it. As far as you have explained, the Pinkertins don't seem like the really risky type, but maybe another group is more fit for the air loving adventure of a vessel like this one. Sorry to intrude on your world building, but this universe is absolutely amazing.
Dude! This is Kick-Ace! I've done a couple myself as well as a floating island volcano and a couple of floating islets! Let me know if you'd like to see them and give me a place to post them! I really like your combination of Zeppelins and river a boat! Awesome idea!
A few air lights on the balloons would've been a lovely addition, and the hollow balloons would've been perfect to store a battery. Although that might have caused some weight issues. I will say, the airships could be something they only use in the east where the big cities are. All in all a beautiful build as always!!
Zepplin and airships in a large city puts me in mind of the game "Chrimson Skies". That would make for an awesome diorama, airships and planes slowly flying amongst the skyscrapers...🤔😮
I see airships as great (albeit it expensive) alternatives to sea and land travel. There's tons of monsters like buffalo men and ambush scorpions on the land, while seas and rivers have giant gators and eldritch horrors. The sky may be one of the safest places to travel. I can see airships being used to move freight from coast to coast, especially the lower weigh-higher value stuff that trains may be robbed for.
@@sglenny001 thered have to be dragons and other crazy shit up there for it to be the worst, but then why wouldnt those things attack on the ground either? I think its nice to have the sky be a sort of safe refuge... especially given the Pinkertons use balloons as observation posts. itd be cool if the sky had some cool passive megafauna... or even animals that aided humans: giant eagles that prey on the large catfish and the likes.
It would be cool to see an air battle of mothmen vs Pinkerton air ships. Maybe the amount of airborne monsters in the imaginary west dissuades people from developing air travel?
There's something very elegant about the top "drums" where you used the wheel spokes. Almost like its the Cpt's private quarters and he wanted to be extra about it to have the best view. I like the idea that the ship is a legend as you said, because its something that a moonshiner *couldve* seen by accident one lonely night in the mountains but gets shut down as a drunk, while the Pinkertons carefuly move him to un-life for seeing their prototype.
If you ever decide to go back and add in people, a great addition would be a "sailor" sat on a plank suspended by two ropes repairing a balloon or cleaning the hull of the ship. Was my first thought on seeing the completed product, looks amazing as always.
I think the airship could be canon and current. It's just very cutting edge, expensive and limited. Like, you'd take an airship to go to the biggest town on the edge of proper civilization, as it requires a mooring tower, advanced fuel facilities - then it's Mules to get around the West. They're a symbol of power from elsewhere, common only in metropolises far, far away. Maybe there's flying beasts too when you get into the frontier, so people don't want to risk their ultra expensive rare flying machines to go somewhere shitty, risking an attack from a pterodactyl-sized bird. Kind of how you see a model T in the beggining of red dead 1, multiple states of technology coexist. People in the west could also be heavily superstitious against airships, and maybe they're as unstable and dangerous as they were in real life.
As a builder of model airships, here is a tip: buy the thin, black, elastic string that is used to make bead bracelets, If you stretch it between points of rigging it stays taut for a long time. Tying thread or string can be bothersome.
1:53 What a magical effect 😍🤩 The great thing about adding lighter than air transports to an adventure story, is that they allow groups to quickly get a long way from home, before, inevitably going down in flames; standing the crew and passengers in the middle of a monster haunted wilderness.
We've all been asking you for this for some time, now. All I can say is that this was well-worth the wait! It will make a fine addition to your Wild, Imaginary West! Thanks for posting this, and have a Happy Fourth of July!

I always thought that the airship in The Mummy Returns was a great vehicle from which to explore the vast expanse of Egypt. Yours is in the same spirit. Super!
I forgot to add footage and mention the propulsion of the ship.
@7:55 you can see the thruster sitting like an outboard motor on the back.
Airship!!!! Lmao
Now that You pointed me towards it... There it is.

Big vulture monsters
My thoughts exactly, maybe untethered flight is dangerous in its own right?
thunderbirds man it’s said they have two heads of eagles who breaths lightning
What about a giant albino bat? That would look super noize.
imagine a diorama with a flock of giant birds fighting a mech lol
Hindenburg Diorama!
On a second thought, I would love to see a HUGE airdock! For the western town!
good idea

YASSSS

Or the Thunderbird...
Omg I have an old LEGO blimp that would work wonders! Thank for the inspiration
I can totally see this beauty in a Studio Ghibli anime about western cowbow. Nice work!
Dang.. man thats great! I like the idea of a longer spanning timeline in your universe.
This is a very cool airship Caleb and a nice addition to your city. Look forward to seeing more wild west aircrafts 🙂👍
Awesome and now you can add a dock/building for the town 👍🏻
Fantastic Air ship. It looks like if they were life size, They would fly...😍
YOOOOO Thanks for shouting out Cut Transform Glue! He's one of my faves and deserves more recognition. Awesome build!!!
Oh wow!!! That is way cool! A great idea that was excellently executed!!!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Very nicely done. I can see additional weapon stations added on as needed as threats develop
I am very happy you made something like this

That said, the "wild west" really didn't end until the 1920s...the Maxim Gun was already around for a while during this period.

What if they are for the ground monsters but on the airship so that they can stay clear of the danger?
OH!!! NOW I GET IT!!!! This is what they call... "MAD SKILLZ"!!! Okay. Thank you.
Bro you should totally take the same kit and make the airship half’s into Viking boats or Spaniard row boats so sick
Way cool. Just a little on the Jules Vern side. Looks like something I designed back in 2000 for my project.
Looks totally feasible as a flying machine I like it well done great work
Sweet shoutout to Cut Transform Glue! That guy deserves SOOOO many more subs, he's amazingly skilled.
I'm enjoying how ypur edits are getting more and more creative as you go on
"they are not cannon, and we will call them legends" ... Such a Star Wars fan after my own heart. ;)
Super badass. Love watching your processes
I am extremely impressed by your way of painting - first assembly and then only you begin to paint. That must be extremely difficult.
That is fantastic, a world borne of your own imagination, just great. Love to see this in a film

This is probably one of my favorite videos. I would love to see one of these that is a crashed wreck and being used as a shelter.
Got a pod-racer feel with those two balloons.
cool imagination

Totally Awesome. Maybe this comes later in the history of the W.I.W. I hope so.
The best one yet
Once again you’ve outdone yourself. All it really needs is a Rose and Jack at the bow.
Excellent work! Very creative and original
I enjoyed this build! Now we need an airship stagecoach stop.
Ahhh, I love Sunday nights.
You could be building little movie sets with your talent, but regardless you enjoy it and it shows in your work :)
You could make some small tweaks so that the balloons are a means of propulsion rather than lift, and it would fit into your universe amazingly well.
I would love the wild imaginary west as a ttrpg setting! It looks really cool with all of your diorama's and a game set there would be awesome!
You sunnvabich Im in.
That would be rad!
I would absolutely pay to see something like that, especially if I can be able drive the airship.
It could easily be adapted using the Monster of the Week game.
YES. STL files for all of these would be incredible
I think you should do a mortal engines style tank based western mining outpost
Absolutely
Wicked idea!! If anyone could do that and do it justice it would be Caleb (aka Boylei).
@@earlware4322 he has the same first name as me.
every ship deserves a name

I could see this airship being a flagship for the Pinkertons. At their main headquarters on the coast/opposite side of the country.
Saw this and was immediately excited.
Fantastic airship. Great job weathering all of it up.
Ugh, all i can imagine now are epic freeze frames of ships and flying creatures in battle. Would be rather cool

woww!!!!! next a sawmill please
this looks like one of those steampunk battle airship
WOW - That's AWESOME

Simply beautiful...
Flying craft would be vulnerable to sky monsters.

Awesome kitbash and the two airship models being used made it that much more unique.
I think it’d be interesting if smaller airships maybe had to regularly fight off flying creatures, ie: giant eagles or oversized hawks.
