@@MrQville I sold my LG UBK90 as well when I upgraded to the Panasonic UB450 but wish I'd kept it as a backup player especially now since they've stopped making them. Probably important to have a backup player in case something happens to the other one. Because there's hardly any players being made now.
TH-camrs are just latching onto the headline to title their 15th "physical media is dying" video for that week. LG were never even big in the player game for a loooong time. If you told me panasonic was halting production id be shocked. And how dare Sony stop BD-r production. How is my Mexican bootlegger meant to to put food on the table if i cant buy things that netflix refuses to make physical? A chill dude with common sense, erned yourself a sub
Hey Jamie, I live in the U.S. I always got low end Sony players, but I upgraded my TV to high end OLED so I bought my first higher end Panasonic blu-ray player about a year ago. It is a great player, and I am a lot happier not dealing with a cheaper Sony. The landscape is changing a lot for physical media, especially here. January 1st Best Buy stopped selling blu-ray, then Redbox shut down their 34,000 kiosks. I noticed some new blu-ray releases have almost doubled in price from the smaller companies since earlier this year. I have heard 4K sales are up, and Steelbooks are selling 44% more. So, it seems to becoming more geared towards collectors who appreciate the media.
Less options are never a good thing, but in all fairness, I’m in USA New York and I’ve haven’t seen an LG Blu-ray player in like 10 years, I didn’t even know LG still made them. Most people gravitate towards Sony or Panasonic over here and the players sell surprisingly really good. I asked my friend that works in Best Buy even though they do not sell physical movies. I asked him how many 4K blueberry players they sold on black Friday he said about 50 and 90% was Sony.
Just Rip (w/free software) with a $50 - $70 Optical Drive all your purchased DVDs, Blu-rays or 4k UHD Movies to your Laptop or Desktop PC's Hard Drive then copy to your Flash Drive or SSD & watch using your Smart TV's included Media Player via USB input. This method also protects your Physical Media from unnecessary handling & they can also be stored in a safe/secure storage location. 👍
I have a LG player.never a problem.works pretty decent.had it for almost 5 years. I have a Samsung TV and it bothers me it doesn't match lol i may upgrade in the near future to a better player. Im just not That picky to run out and upgrade. Good video jamie as always.🍻cheers!
If people are not nuying LG maybe its not all the publics fault but theirs cos they only have 2 4k uhd players available, so why no 4k uhd player since 2018? well ask them, Remember a few years ago Samsung pulled out and it was everywhere on the media, looking back maybe they pulled out too early .
Also i said this again and again there won't be another 8k as you dreaming it will take tremendous amount of resources time and money to license and distribute them hell it will takes decades. Plus streaming slow down the growth of 4k physical media. Remember when bluray was introduced? There were no Netflix or others then they released 4k UHD player everyone starts to copy now all 4k streaming have 4k.
I have a few LG Blu ray players as backups for 3D Blu ray. But the last good LG players were around 2018-2019 IMO. That's the main models I have. I have not jumped to 4k yet, but I plan to get Panasonic next year. So I agree, LG is no longer considered a big deal. Neither was Samsung. I may own a few LG players myself, but even I know they aren't the go to players. And don't forget all the lesser players, those generics. I'm sure those are still a thing.
I've never bought LG anything. I have a 4k player and a standard blu ray player. Had my Oppo blu ray player over 10 years it's still working fine. My 4K player i hardly use. I've already got most of my favourite movies on physical media. I don't really like modern Hollywood movies so if they stop releasing them I don't care. I will support the boutique labels and by bootlegs if I have to.
Me dont see the point of still making DVDs, but the price of blu-ray movies needs to come down, And saying players that cannot play 4k are too expensive is utter crap, what do you spend your money on, theres a lot of good players out there and i do not mean the latest Playsration!!!
LG is sucks anyway we still have Panasonic,SONY,Magnetar and Xbox and Playstation this are the TITANS also in Amazon there's alot of manufacturers still making dvd players at an affordable prices Philips,Megatex,Craig,Foramor,Desobry,LP NOT LG,Tojock,Cehoit,Yoton,ieGeek,Gueray,Magnabox,Didar and all PC laptops continues making dvd players. Physical format is here to stay.
You are on the good ship Blu-ray and about to hit a great big digital iceberg. In 2022 90% of video games in the UK was digital download, in the US in 2018 83% of games sold were digital. DVD sales are out performing Blu-Ray, and DVD sales have dropped 86% in the last 13 years. You can reel out brand names after Panasonic and Sony which stick their logo on a generic player made in the same factory in China, companies don't care about your hobby or collections they follow the public trend and their spending and adjust accordingly. Mainstream discs and players are entering the legacy phase.
Thanks for clearing up the nonsense comments on this issue. Physical media forever!
Lg was never a contender in that market
Why not? They made very good players. Although their 4K players were mediocre.
I just sold my lg UBK90 And upgraded to the panasonic 820 with the black friday deal also added

My LG player died when the warranty expired...ONE year.
Thanks for keeping it real Jamie. The rest is lying...
I'm going to buy a player from Panasonic.

I've had an LG player before. No loss.
Prices will go up..
Have you heard of Magnetar udp900?

Nothing to see here. They had no noteworthy player imo. Not a big deal.
I hope that all companies will ever stop entirely? 🙏🙏🙏🙏I'm a collector
LG-Hitachi are still the largest producers of disc drives.
News!

Glad you can expand out to another channel. This made me sad to hear tbh.

It's almost like you should rip your discs to a hdd and backup to backblaze like I've been screaming forever.
Blu-rays seem to getting squeezed by the long term survival of DVDs and the new kid on the block , 4K .
VHS tapes are coming back to shake things up.

@@dustbin5044 This baffles me on so many levels , like WHY?
Good LG were shit anyway.
Sure were. Their portable fans and plug strips are fine, but Blu-Ray players? Sorry, I never even considered buying their brand. 😂

My LG player is actually better than my Sony but nothing can beat Panasonic...
