Pricing and lack of customers is true but like the old saying if you build it, they will come !!The saying never says they will come today or tomorrow, but eventually they will come with time, patience and consistency! Great business idea, but like anything worth doing will take time and word of mouth, so more expats will come and as they come they will be looking for assistance. It is a need that those who are already established and has good reputation of helping expats will have a competitive advantage!

Well stated. I agree. The only problem I see is the unfortunate bickering between the people. I saw some videos with the same ideas but if only the ‘crabs in a basket’ mindset could be dismantled and replaced with cohesion… if the Willie Lynch letter was and is a real thing, it’s still in full effect and spreading.

Absolutely, 💯 re the Aid mentality..Which is destroying African Americans....The majority of Blacks in America watch the destruction of our people with indifference and snobbery.. Another group (non caucasian) has set up successful, thriving lucrative cities for themselves and their people..From Janitors to school, schools boards, employment, housing, education etc etc. No one gave them money..Their people with resources used their resources to make these successful cities.. Black People should use their example and do the same

It seems as if they have no work ethics at all. Maybe one of the reasons Africa is so far behind. I had a problem similar while visiting Zambia during COVID. I asked my driver to pick me up at 8am to go get tested for COVID; my flight leaves at noon. At 9am, he didn't show up, so I got another driver to take me. When I returned to the hotel just in time to get ready to leave for the airport, he was just showing up. I find them to be extremely unprofessional. I am saying to myself, how can a person have a business and be successful at it, if there is no work ethics and have no respect for someone's time.

A significant issue in Africa is that many individuals have become resigned to their suffering, convinced that there is little they can do to change their circumstances. A considerable number are seeking financial assistance or expecting others to take action on their behalf.
Numerous individuals overlook the various opportunities available, despite the fact that foreigners frequently take advantage of them. They reap the benefits.
Many individuals in Africa harbor skepticism towards their own continent, often placing their faith in the Western world. A significant number feel that their advancement is contingent upon being in a Western nation, despite the possibility that such opportunities may not be available there.

This is probably a silly question but is there a news and weather channel to track the heavy rain? You all have the right mindset to handle these issues. Also, the mzungu worship by many Africans is my ultimate pet peeve!!!! It’s the same in America. My cousin’s daughter had a baby recently. She put a picture of the infant on Facebook saying “Welcome to the world white boy!” The baby isn’t even bi-racial. I couldn’t even comment. You all should have a discussion panel with some of those Africans who feel that way. Or a live about this topic so people can call in. Our African brothers need to be educated about the dangers of doing this. It makes these other races a false sense of superiority. I absolutely agree with everything you’re saying!!! I am so angry I can’t convince my adult children to unite and start a business together in Africa!!!! So, Yah willing, I am selling my home in April and moving to the motherland with my 10 year old grandson, one sister, and her 3 sons.

Hey Rick & Cynthia. Good to see you guys still moving ahead and doing well. Never been to the motherland but hopefully will have a chance to visit in the near future. I been listening to you issues you guys have to face living in the Gambia and thing much of these issues with negligent driving habits can be stopped simply by imposing frequent but small fines on violators and taken their vehicles if they don't pay the fines, that there will stop a lot of that shit, and for pedestrians that obstruct traffic- again small fines or five day in jail, that would boost the cities revenue and perhaps then they can have good streets to drive on. I see it in Europe and wonder, since paving all the streets are too expensive, why don't these poor African nations lay down streets of brick in all the residential areas and just have all the main roads and freeways paved? Bricks, I am sure these African Nations can produce more cheaper

All of the imperfection that you see in Africa is an opportunity to make things better maybe they're the way they are because they don't have any competition. This is an opportunity for those who want to do a taxi business.. if you are a African-American you should have come to Africa with some kind of skills to where you don't have to depend too much on the locals to do a certain type of job for you and you don't have to worry about the half done jobs that they do..

AA teachings are different then that of the Countinent of Africa. Many AA don't understand when they bring up titles such as Hebrews and Canaanites Africans are unfamiliar with that way of teachings because here in America through Slavery we picked up certain words and beliefs. Many in America know Africas history better then people on the continent. .I'm born in America and slavery didn't allow our ancestors to read or write but we still feel we know more about the Motherland then those who reside there. Especially through the teachers of our enslaver which is where many of our " Titles" came from( Europe). Our religions and it's teachings all were learned by way of Slavery but we don't want to admit that.

When dealing with contractors, start videotaping yourself with them on your agreements. The video would be the contract agreement and show them the video often, when they start the project, halfway through, and close to the end of the project. Everyone has a cellphone, why not use it for business purposes in The Gambia?
