This choral quality has not been matched by today’s Russian military bands. There is something about the mystique of Soviet times that cannot be replicated in capitalist Russia.

I had this on an old Red army ensemble record, wish I still had it brilliant song, on the same record was a song about the Russian soldiers marching home after conquering Germany they were whistling and singing going back to their families you could hear the gladness
I always found this song exceptional, cause it’s talking about things that happened in real live. The soldier is a human, not a indestructible communist superhero. His girlfriend maybe does not even care about him anymore, even if he is doing heroic things. Real life. Friendship of his fellow soldiers, who know about such things to happen, cheers him up.
