So glad to finally see someone cover the CMON announcement. That was the most over hyped WTF moment I think I've ever seen. There were plenty of people legitimately excited on the stream but I think I was too surprised to even feel disappointed, what even was that?
It's not like they hyped this for weeks. It was literally a couple of posts and what about a week's time? I don't get people ragging on it actually. If you're excited about it, great! People like me are really hyped about this. If it's not your thing, then just look past it. But I am really excited about this and I think what they did with making characters that can cross into many different games in their catalog is very creative regardless of what you think of iron maiden
And as far as stopped being to tease Cthulhu death may die, they did not do this. They are doing both / and. We know when Cthulhu death may die is going to launch, we have seen new content, etc. Man versus meeple has a full review. To do this at the same time is great. More variety is always better

I for one was really excited about the announcement. I think CMON taking a chance and trying something new is pretty great. The fact that you can use the characters from the Iron Maiden packs in multiple games across their catalog is very clever. Even if you are not a fan of Iron Maiden there is still a creativeness to this. I understand that people are waiting for Cthulhu death may die, which the launch date was announced, but to do something on the side like this to me is great. I get the fact that if you don't have a lot of these games then this won't be for you. And that's fine. But there are plenty of CMON fans out there who have multiple games from their catalog and will find ways to use these the majority of these. The only people that should be disappointed are those that are stuck FOMO mode for one particular game. To those people I simply say you don't and shouldn't get this. I was not a fan of the Ghostbusters zombicide packs so I simply didn't get them. Easy as that. But I think these packs are very creative and I love that they are trying something new.
For me, I'm just happy to have access to additional, cheaper, abominations and characters rather than hunting down minis on ebay to expand my Black Plague options. The ability to use more in C:DMD is a bonus too.
I will start playing Scotland Yard with the zombies from Black Plague. Just need to cut the zombies a bit and add some acrylic base but hey - thats how house rules work! 😂 Maybe use zombie wolfs instead of ships in Catan? As you see, easy way to re-use stuff from existing games in other board games 😁

The Manhattan Project: Energy Empire - Cold War expansion campaign also suffered from its founder passing away. In that case the entire game company went into probate (made worse by the widow lacking the authoirization to access some of the related infrastructure online for awhile) and ultimately was sold to Grail Games who completed the project but with the caveat that backers had to pay for shipping. I'm slightly miffed by that but it was better than nothing and we certainly saw a lot of requests to cover skyrocketing shipping costs during covid so I'll give it a pass. Thank you Grail Games for saving the backers! Anyway what remains to be seen is whethere there are legal/financial implications for Bad Crow Games similar to Minion Games. They may well want to move forward after grieving but depending on wills, trusts, and so forth the company could be thrown into Probate depending on the nature of the company itself - LLC, limited partnership, C Corp etc. If sent to probate expect a minimum of 6 months for that all to be sorted out as well as a pretty substantial probate fee to be paid that is no joke. I'm sorry to hear bout his loss of course, but having been through this before with Minion, they may well be looking for an investor angel/white knight to pick up the campaign. Yes I backed the 2nd campaign... all-in so I'm going through this again. Brace yourself and lower your expecations greatly for fulfillment. As long as we are on a morbid topic, having recently moved I realized how much of a total headache I would leave my family if my number came up for departure earlier than expected. Think about all the feedback mechanisms these campaigns have for backers to complete their pledges, modify them, confirm addreses, and on and on and now think about the pipeline of games you have backed and how many your relatives are going to have to intercept to sort out. Some or all of your games may arrives at their doorstep for years and will the location even still be owned by your beneficiaries. I think a huge miss by Gamefound, Backerkit, and Kickstarter is a system where by you can designate beneficiaries of your campaigns such that they can assume control of them in the event of your early demise. What does happen today if a backer passes away? Can their decendants contact these companies and take over the accounts with the presentation of a death certificate? At minimum plan on making your crowdfunding passwords available to someone in your family to help sort this out. I'm not sure this crowfunding industry is very death friendly and perhaps that is an area for substantial improvement for both producer and backer alike. Perhaps even part of starting a campaign is providing clear succession planning to your backers in the event that some or all of the producers exit stage left. Again pardon me for bringing all of this up but I think its worthy of very serious discussion for both backers and designers alike. The more we discuss it and adjust the experience by working with the crowdfunding platform providers the more likely it helps everyone out. Lets stop assuming that we are going to be fine and start building a better framework to handle these situations more gracefully.

CMON Iron Maiden announcement was just strange & weird. One for heavy metal Collectors for sure. Seems to be like the Motörhead expansion for Victor Vran computer game.
Even as a former hardcore Iron Maiden fan, I can't justify these. I don't have Zombicide and even if I did, shipping for the full set to the UK is $30! With VAT, that's over $115 for 2 minis for me to use and all the hassle of trying to sell all the other ones.
The worst part of the CMON Iron Maiden packs is that they did not package content by game together; so if you want say the Cthulhu Death May Die figures then you still need to get all three packs since they separated the content for the game between the boxes. Clearly just another CMON money grab that does not place the games or the fans first.
With Dante the comparison was not to 40k, but to Age of Sigmar, since the dude at the top of the campaign page used to look 1 to 1 like a Stormcast Eternal. They changed the design like 2 month ago to what it is now, so I think that comparison or out of date. No wonder you don't think it looks similiar 😁

I mean, it seems pretty clear that the Ghostrider campaign will scrape by if it funds at all, but you'd think they'd let it breath first. Granted, board games are a separate market from figures, but still. Also, a few campaigns HAVE failed. The Cookie Monster replica, 3rd Sister lightsaber replica, and Black Series Rancor did not make the cut. As for the headline, this isn't the first time that CMON has made a potpourri SKU, but previous ones were freebies at CMON Expo, so being package was basically just for logistics. That being said, it's not unheard of, though companies like Renegade usually reserve the concept for commercial releases of stuff that was formerly convention exclusives, lumped together. To finish off with the CoH expansion, I need to point out that there was a year where they literally sold a piece of shit to customers. Not a piece of shit with a card in it, or with any rules relevance whatsoever, just a piece of actual dried cow shit in packaging with their branding on it. It sold out.

heroscape campaign seems to say only two figures are exclusive... does that mean they release it in smaller sets retail if this fails? i'd rather buy in pieces in stores than the $250 chunk. if you think $50 shipping is included the deal seems much better. hopefully it gets released one way or another
I was personally really happy to see the Eddie content as a big Maiden fan since primary school 🤘 As you say, there will be some content I won't be able to use "out of the box" but with having Photoshop, I'll just create my own content - no biggy. Really looking forward to creating a whole bunch of comment for Marvel Zombies with this - as you mentioned, will match the base (as fully sculptured) but also but I'm sure will, at some point, actually tie in with a Marvel (as they have a contact with Iron Maiden for use with Eddie in producing merchandise and comic content {he already features in their comics!}) ❤️🤘😜🤗

I absolutely LOVED the Iron Maiden announcement. CMON does fun things like that, not going to be for everyone, but I'm a HUGE IRON MAIDEN FAN and just saw them in Concert here in Salt Lake City last month. Plus I have all those CMON games so... I preordered. Just a fun geek side project. Glad they do little things like that.

Why would CMON want to quarter their profits? By selling direct to consumer they don't need to sell wholesale to businesses that sell to people who sell to consumers.
@@TheKingofAverage They are asking $350 for the ghost rider car and many, myself included, do not see the value in what they are asking, especially when compared to previous campaign offerings. Some of the bigger TH-cam reviewers of Marvel legends figures have openly backed out of the project questioning why the high price. I think they have 13 days left on that campaign and are halfway to funding. The campaign could spike during the last few days, but I wouldn't be surprised if it doesn't fund. There seems to be a lot of strong feelings about this campaign.
I mean, the obvious answer is that production costs have gone way up since the last campaign. Pretty sure that the retail figures went up ~50% between their previous crowdsource campaign and now. Of course, just because that explains the cost, doesn't mean that makes it worth it.

It really comes down to the person to determine whether they see value in that project. I hope those who really want it get it. We will know in 13 days whether the project is funded. I dunno, I guess I'd just be on board with dropping cash to be able to play Rum & Bones as Captain Yarface.
Oathsworn is out and I'm not willing to pay for the price hike. They raised the prices and are excluding VAT. I don't want the game that badly to pay €300 including shipping for the core pledge. That's ridiculous. Board games need to stop being so bloated. I did however put some cash into Wonderland's War. And I'd rather spend Oathsworn money on quality companies like AR. I will get ISS Vanguard instead and some expansions and maybe minis for Tainted Grail. At least AR didn't get into the whole "SORRY NO VAT INCLUDED" craze that has been going on lately. But hey, what company will say no to 25% more money from many backers?

I'd add Hasbro has specifically stated all development for Heroscape, both in retail and crowd funding will stop if the campaign fails. Of course thay doesn't mean they aren't lying but that's at least what they're claiming at the moment. It's a real shame because as you mentioned funding isn't going to happen based on the current pace.

heroscape campaign seems to say only two figures are exclusive... does that mean they release it in smaller sets retail if this fails? i'd rather buy in pieces in stores than the $250 chunk. if you think $50 shipping is included the deal seems much better. hopefully it gets released one way or another

Really looking forward to creating a whole bunch of comment for Marvel Zombies with this - as you mentioned, will match the base (as fully sculptured) but also but I'm sure will, at some point, actually tie in with a Marvel (as they have a contact with Iron Maiden for use with Eddie in producing merchandise and comic content {he already features in their comics!}) ❤️🤘😜🤗

I absolutely LOVED the Iron Maiden announcement. CMON does fun things like that, not going to be for everyone, but I'm a HUGE IRON MAIDEN FAN and just saw them in Concert here in Salt Lake City last month. Plus I have all those CMON games so... I preordered. Just a fun geek side project. Glad they do little things like that.
Yeah definitely conflicted. I'd love to see it more focused on the games to add more content, but then more than likely I'd not own that game haha

funny how i'mm watiching this video bout Iron Maiden don't having a lot of value per game with their price tag as I wait for my 300$ comission for painted Iron Maiden minis (on top of the original 66.60$) I do think that for zombicide 2ed Iron maiden does have a lot of stuff. and I printed cards for the non second edition eddies to be used on that game

too bad CMON wont stop kickstarting their games and just go full retail.... however all the companies have to get together and figure out how to get shipping costs down for global shipping.
Why would CMON want to quarter their profits? By selling direct to consumer they don't need to sell wholesale to businesses that sell to people who sell to consumers.
Yes they have failed on a few projects. There is some controversy regarding their newest campaign regarding the ghost rider car.

@@TheKingofAverage They are asking $350 for the ghost rider car and many, myself included, do not see the value in what they are asking, especially when compared to previous campaign offerings. Some of the bigger TH-cam reviewers of Marvel legends figures have openly backed out of the project questioning why the high price. I think they have 13 days left on that campaign and are halfway to funding. The campaign could spike during the last few days, but I wouldn't be surprised if it doesn't fund. There seems to be a lot of strong feelings about this campaign.
I mean, the obvious answer is that production costs have gone way up since the last campaign. Pretty sure that the retail figures went up ~50% between their previous crowdsource campaign and now. Of course, just because that explains the cost, doesn't mean that makes it worth it.
@@ccggenius I really don't think that explains the cost though some will use that reason to justify why it is so expensive, and that has been the main issue about this project. It really comes down to the person to determine whether they see value in that project. I hope those who really want it get it. We will know in 13 days whether the project is funded. With all the strong feelings about this project it has been interesting to follow.

Powerwolf is off the table, they already have their own game. (It's... not great.) GWAR has one as well. Sabaton is literally just military history, why pay for a license when world events are free? I'd think a superior selection of... I hesitate to say Indy, but they aren't exactly mainstream... groups would put Nekrogoblikon with Gloryhammer and Alestorm. I dunno, I guess I'd just be on board with dropping cash to be able to play Rum & Bones as Captain Yarface.
Oathsworn is out and I'm not willing to pay for the price hike. They raised the prices and are excluding VAT. I don't want the game that badly to pay €300 including shipping for the core pledge. That's ridiculous. Board games need to stop being so bloated.
I did however put some cash into Wonderland's War. And I'd rather spend Oathsworn money on quality companies like AR. I will get ISS Vanguard instead and some expansions and maybe minis for Tainted Grail. At least AR didn't get into the whole "SORRY NO VAT INCLUDED" craze that has been going on lately. But hey, what company will say no to 25% more money from many backers?

Have you seen the recent spirit island campaign? Very manipulative with bundles…. Not offering individual add ons. One of the worst campaigns for a top 100 game I’ve ever seen

I'd add Hasbro has specifically stated all development for Heroscape, both in retail and crowd funding will stop if the campaign fails. Of course thay doesn't mean they aren't lying but that's at least what they're claiming at the moment. It's a real shame because as you mentioned funding isn't going to happen based on the current pace.
