A lot of the people in these comments seem to have completely missed the point of what he did. The “inside info” was about when he took himself out of a game(faked injury) so that he wouldn’t play his usual minutes to hit an over on his box score, and told a bettor he was going to do so beforehand. That is manipulating both the game and the betting on it. Doesn’t have anything to do with how good he is or if they lost the game. And that was just one instance. Dude might get jail time for this, not just a ban.
He will become a public speaker on the topic of gambling and how it can ruin your chances in the NBA.
And probably will make more money there than he would have in NBA or overseas. Crazy world

In a healthy world the media would use this opportunity to raise the awareness against Sports Betting - but of course ESPN also makes money out of it. Sports betting is one of the worst addiction for many of our weakest citizens out there, particularly the youngest, particularly the poorest and literally ruins and takes people's lives. The Integrity of the NBA took a hit on its "media platforms" the minute the likes of ESPN Commentators were overtly taking about "Tanking" a One and Done Playoff Match, like it was Commonplace.
Specifically, The Lakers vs. Pelicans, play-in game on Sunday.
If you think about the fact that the likes of prominent announcers, who have "inner circle knowledge" and "networking" to the workings of the game can make such "a matter of fact statement" about potential thought processes of players/teams in the game, what makes you think "gambling insiders" aren't far off?

This is a prime example of a person with a gambling problem. It was reported that he placed hundreds of bets on games other than the NBA. This is a mental health issue and instead of making an example of him by banning him the NBA should have provided treatment Some may disagree but there is a reason why every betting ad states if you have a gambling problem please seek help. There are NBA player that have done heinous things like beating their wife or girlfriend but they still play in the league. I absolutely detest the fact that sports gambling is legal, really takes away from the game.

Jontay Porter is not the only professional sports employee who manipulates the system. In addition, the general public will have evolving worse behaviors because of the gambling integrations.
