    ngl I’m really happy there wasn’t a charli feature which I’m sure fans wanted. even before Sophie died im pretty sure Charli was in no way shape or form meant to be on this album. It just confuses me because I feel like people didn’t actually listen to ‘so I,’ charli pretty much says they were a little distant before her death. as most people of course I would have loved another collab between them but im so glad charli wasn’t involved, this is Sophie’s album through and through and I’m so happy we got the collaborations we did.

      People lack reading comprehension skills, I’m also glad Charli was not on this. This was pretty much as close to what SOPHIE intended to release at some point

      yeah, although i dont think she was COMPLETELY uninvolved. sophie did actually atleast *try* to have her on the album at one point because we had a tracklist leak for this after parts of sophies email were breached in 2019. she was suggesting taxi and wanna get fucked up (as well as lock it up), but probably took them off since they dont fit with the rest of the songs lol

    It’s a little poetic that her voice isn’t on this album, since she’s not actually here with us to share her full artistic voice and vision. I’m glad we got this though and really enjoy it and have no complaints.

    tbh I was really worried when the project was announced, and hearing the singles didn't help (since the versions on soundcloud sound better). However, i saw a live show recording by SOPHIE and she pretty much performed 2/3 of this album's tracks, which just showed how close the album was to being completed.
    Upon hearing the full album, it is easier to accept it for what it is; a last beautiful tribute to her contributions to pop, techno and ambient music. Even though i will probably stick to listening to the live versions of the new album, I have huge respect for Ben and everyone involved for giving us her music and solidifying her image as an icon. We'll never get back what we lost

    and that's whats so heartbreaking about it all. We never got a Bjork style evolution with her. A backcatalog of decades of hits and misses. Just a triumphant debut and some intriguing decent tracks to cap it off.

    If she was still alive, she and, I think even Kim, would be in the pop culture zeitgeist for DECADES TO COME, MAYBE EVEN MILLENIUMS
    She will be missed, she will be mourned as one of the truest stars to ever grace the musical field; I hope she’s happy up there, with her beloved moon, rest in peace SOPHIE!

    i understand people maybe not liking the direction of this album, but i really REALLY hate how people are directing the hate to her family. we knew sophies vision for this album for yeaaarrrs, she played almost all of these songs live and people on album of the year still have the nerve to go "BENNY BUTCHERED SOPHIES VISION! SHE WASNT INVOLVED IN MOST OF THESE TRACKS!".
    anyways, small rant, but i love this album, and seeing people hate on it because it isn't structured like a traditional album just shows how innovative she was, and adds to her statement of not believing in the album format

    Just because I know this would’ve been an sophomore album I will leave my one very very small critique of the album and that is I wish the songs had split the vocal collaborators more evenly, maybe even brought more vocal collaborators. I understand why it was done this way and obviously this wouldn’t even be a talking point if Sophie was still with us. Like I said it’s a small critique but it’s the only one I have. I will waiting patiently for this album get a Grammy and if it doesn’t I’ll be protesting

    • @EljohnMacaranas

      @@EljohnMacaranas it’s not even a lack to me, they spent a lot of time mastering the tracks, the over reliance on BC Kingdom, Popstar, and LIZ, is tiring. other people who are on the album less like Kim Petras, Hannah Diamond, Dodd, Cecile Belive could’ve taken on 1 more song and maybe people like Charli could’ve had a spot.

    R.I.P. SOPHIE. She is an icon, and she'll always be.
    Man, I don’t think I'll ever really wrap my mind around her passing. Everytime I think about it, I'm shot back to the day she died. My mom came in my room mentioning she heard about her premature death on the news. My mom never heard SOPHIE's music, she didn't know I was a fan and just asked if I knew who she was, but she could see the moment my stomach dropped when I shakily asked to see the news article just to confirm my worst suspicions. I'd just finished clumsily producing a track inspired by the controlled chaos of Ponyboy and Faceshopping while anxiously awaiting her new releases, and then she was gone...
    As for this final album, although this project sounds different than I guess I thought it would, I'm content with what we got. Posthumous releases are always touchy, but I do believe that her family would know best that SOPHIE would want these tracks to be heard. In them, I sense a transitionary evolution of her style, but into what, we'll never know for certain. You're right - it's not a conclusion, because sadly, we'll never get one. But it's likely the closest we'll ever get to knowing more of her creative vision, and I'm thankful for that. Your video speaks to that bittersweetness that comes from reflecting on her legacy as a fan, so thank you.
    Also, just a note: I noticed when you were talking about RAWWWWWW, I think you used he/him for Jozzy, but she's a woman.

    I said this to another reactor/ music channel i follow but for me im unfortunately apart of the crowd that just felt this dosent feel right or sit well with me. im happy there some that enjoyed it! And we even got anything to begin with!
    Even disregarding no fan favorites there are still werid choices with songs we have beard before when sophie was alive now being mixed weridly and sounding less impactful like reason why(its still pretty good tho) and its interesting cause this btw is a old fan favorite that made it onto the album but other songs around the time that where made are missing? Like "transnation" would've fit perfectly here in this album and wouldn't have felt out of place, and would've felt like... Well her. I even seen the leaked music video and stuff i feell she definitely would've had that on the album with a new video since the old one had her ex in it .
    But this is why i feel like that argument amongs people when it comes to old fan favorites or not doesn't hold up imo, but i understand!
    But all in all something was just felt off even as far as posthumous albums go, the song themselves shows a direction she definitely wanted to go but the choices that made the album in the end result of the final songs now done makes me feel like somthing was changed too much about them and missing, makes me feel this album wasn't as complete as they made it out to be. I respect the hell outta her brother for finding the strength to do this and everyone trying to do there best with what they had!
    Apparently more is coming so i can't wait for that
    Hope this doesn't come of as mean! Im just a fan that cares, it didn't overall leave the best impression but i still respect everyone apart of it! I think everyone opinions on this is valid and if anything it shows how many people actually care about her and her legacy, she changed music forever!

      @EljohnMacaranas  2 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      I think you made some very valid points! I personally had mixed feelings but respect her family’s attempt to at least put forth some work of hers. Felt less cash grabby than some of the other posthumous albums I have heard. Still SOPHIE was a perfectionist to a fault she’d release rather sporadically, I can only imagine what this truly finished would have been like.

    I can’t lie, I’m currently kind of scared to listen to this album. I fell in love with her music so deeply, her death felt devastating to experience as a fan of her truly one of a kind styles, Immaterial from Oil of Every Pearl’s Un-Insides was a huge part of my recognition of my non-binary gender identity, and has inspired so many stories I’ve planned over time. As much as her legacy will live on and has continued after the accident that took her life, what should be a comma feels like a period. Like a part of her legacy ends when I finish this album, and that feels a little painful to consider. Because even if the rest of that legacy continues, I hate the feeling that even a portion of it must end.

    Along with my interpretation of reason why as basically embracing your own truth so you can love other people and love yourself, I thought that it being right after The Dome's protection was perfect and this and all the poppy tracks that come after feel like a practical example of the messages in TDP, as it is very abstract, specially as it ends with lines about embracing your present "look in front of you/this is the cradle of your civilization.. etc". Idk that transition was perfect for me, along with the fact that is the song everyone is most familiar with (even if you didn't pirate it or whatever, it was the first single), it all added to that and I thought it was really well though out...😊

I was expecting something more Oil-y as it were and I was maybe disappointed because of that. I think the production is great but I am mixed on the vocals as a cohesive piece. Part of it is just wanting to hear Sophie again, which I guess is the bittersweet subtext of it all. You are not the first person I have read calling it great to the point I thought I was listening wrong. Maybe I need to fill in some gaps before giving this a second go. It's been months since Brat was released, and I still can't listen to So I without bursting into tears, so who knows how long it'll take me to get through this album without breaking down into tears at the cinematic moments and then getting sudden emotional whiplash into sheer pop giddiness, which feels like she's smiling and reminding us again, it's okay to cry. I remember listening to the Euphoric Reduce Me To Nothingness Remix of Faceshopping and Pretending I Give In (Let Go) one night and just having a wave of calmness wash over me as I finally accepted that I'm trans after years of knowing it but refusing to believe it. SOPHIE is such a phenomenal album. The Dome's Protection made me feel things I can't even explain. The pop moments are so fun, and downright catchy. I've been obsessed with Berlin Nightmare and One More Time specifically since they dropped. Exhilarate also really helped me get through a rough night when it dropped. I agree that Love Me Off Earth feels like SOPHIE is speaking directly from the heavens. I wish she was still here just about every day, like I'm sure many of us do, but this album, while it may not be 100% polished, really does feel like her presence is amongst us.

      Also, this comment was beautiful, I’m so glad SOPHIE helped you in that way!

    i'm not a huge fan of the album but she's one of those artists where i know my opinion on her art doesn't mean shit so i have no intention on ever criticizing her work.

      I think it’s fair to not be too in love with the record, if anything this is a museum piece or a document than an actual album we can properly assess

    I find it very lackluster, can't believe there's no Charli feature.

    • @EljohnMacaranas
      @EljohnMacaranas  3 วันที่ผ่านมา +4

      Charli was never meant to be on what this record would have been if SOPHIE had been alive to complete it, So I on Brat implies they’d drifted apart for a time and Charli felt much regret for not being there when she could have.

    Tragically unpolished… Sophie truly is dead. I dont understand why he ebrother would stain her legacy with this shit album?

      90% of this album was SOPHIE, we’ll never know if the remaining 10% she would have put into this would have made it that much better but it’s just out there bc it was so close to being finalized

      this album was made by sophie and put together by sophie, it was finished by her brother and friends we dont know what the album would be like if she was still with us but its best not to dwell on that, the version was clear for this album i srsly doubt benny changed it that much
