Beautiful to hear. I knew SOPHIE for mere moments of her early life in Manchester. All I felt was positivity in her presence. I don't know her brother but I know this has been a hell of a journey so respect to all involved x

EDIT: just so we're clear, considering how terrible posthumous albums end up being, this one is in fact Very Good. The forum post i paraphrased was a response to some fans thinking the bootlegs were better than this album.
The songs the self-appointed "true fans" would've had included are official releases of all the songs that were leaked years and years ago. I'm glad we're getting something with unheard material, curated by someone who was closer to the person behind the persona than any of us were.
@@petersmith6678 i believe the point of that forum comment was that others were complaining that there were fans that could have done better, comparing this album to some of the bootlegs that have come out over the years. Even SOPHIE's brother and her engineer (who also assembled this LP) fell short in some way, and that's okay, it's human and inevitable when handling the works of those who have passed on.
Beautifully said :’) of course this would be very different if SOPHIE was still here. But I see this album as closure given to the world by her family and loved ones. SOPHIE was a singer, composer, producer, and also a british DJ, also known for her synthesized and electronic sounds in pop music. SOPHIE worked with artists such as, Charli XCX, Vince Staples, Kim Petras, Madonna, etc. She also collaborated with PC Music, along with A.G Cook. SOPHIE became known thanks to her singles "BIPP" (2013), and "LEMONADE" (2013) which were later compiled into "PRODUCT" along with other singles at the time. Her first studio album "Oil Of Every Pearl's Un-Insides", released in 2017, also this album was nominated for a grammy for best dance/electronic music. Sadly SOPHIE passed away in January 2021, after having an accidental fall in Greece, Athens. She was born on September 17, 1986 in Glasgow (Scotland), where her interest in music began when she was little; her father played electronic music cassettes. At nine years old, she began writing her own songs and even asked her parents if she could drop out of school to be a music producer; Shee finally continued her studies. In her adolescence she continued composing songs, and even promised herself that "She wouldn't leave her room until she made an album." During that period she learned to be a DJ and producer. She began her musical career in a band called Motherland, and later collaborated with artists on the PC Music label, such as A. G. Cook and Danny L. Harle. In 2013 she released her first single, "Nothing More To Say", which included "Vox", "Dub" and "Eeehhh". Some time later she released the single "Bipp", which received the attention of specialized critics. , and even Pitchfork ranked it 56th among the best tracks of the 2010-2014 period. Additionally, in 2014 she also released the single "Lemonade"; song that was part of a McDonald's advertising campaign.
SOPHIE was my beautiful introduction to electronic and experimental music in 2014. Her BIPP changed something in me. Such a legend, an icon. Truly immaterial. Love from Ukraine 🇺🇦
What would Sophie do? - That's the question I ask myself for every posthumous project, whether it's a single or an album. Even if she originally intended the album to be this way, I still believe her way of thinking always left room for unpredictability and spontaneity. Honestly, that’s what makes me feel somewhat disconnected from this album. I can enjoy her music and singles separately, but my mind has chosen to divide everything into 'before' and 'after' Sophie's tragic death. For me, there’s Oil of Every Pearl’s Un-Insides-and then there’s everything else. Rest in peace, dear Sophie.
that's an incredibly ankle deep take. there was so much more to Sophie's discography and life than just her experimental 2018 record? the people who can only see Sophie as the face of Oil are sad. she was so much more than Oil.
@@varia8939 Maybe I didn’t make myself clear before, so I’ll try again: I fell in love with Sophie’s music through Bipp, Elle, and all the Product tracks. I totally get what you're saying, but in terms of a full statement, Oil of Every Pearl’s Un-Insides was something else. It marked a new era, her boldest artistic expression, and the only full studio album she released in her lifetime. I first saw her live in 2015, before she dropped Product on Numbers, so believe me, I was already a huge fan of that phase of her discography. However, I don’t really see Productas an album-it feels more like a compilation of her experimental works. But with Oil, I felt like she was revolutionizing the scene-and she did. This new album doesn’t give me the same feeling. To me, it feels more like a tribute, a way to keep her ideas alive. My main point is that I don’t feel Sophie’s presence in this project the way I did with Oil. Her loss is something I can’t fill, not even with these posthumous releases.

This is absolutely amazing. Congratulations to everybody involved. You've totally delivered SOPHIE x
THIS ALBUM IS AMAZINGG
Rest in Peace, SOPHIE! I miss you every day.
