Replacing the bearings and seals and giving a fresh coat of paint to the right angle gearbox on our vintage carnival ride restoration project. Watch the entire series here: th-cam.com/play/PL9JRE2uksm9tonX17TZt38K6RH2EnDNf1.html
I usually clean those gearboxes and do any type of refurbish when it’s in pieces he just looks and comes out a lot better! Great video, my friend all and through
Hi. I just found your channel and I am impressed. You are so thorough with these bigger parts and also the tiny parts in the video about the electronic controller. Amazon is out of the tool used to remove the bearing races, but i will check again later. Can you tell me where to find the cutter you have which goes over your finger. Thank you.
I get a bit complacent with that citriStrip. It ain’t our dad’s paint stripper that would immediately start burning the second it touched your skin. But I probably should be a bit more cautious. Thanks for the support!
@@PeteRondeau, So is Citrus Strip a non toxic product? That’s cool, I will have to check that out. I thought it was the name of a pole dancer in Pennsylvania.
On this particular gearbox the ratio is about 10 to 1. This particular gearbox was made by a company that no longer exists "Abart Gear and Machine Company". I have found similar gear boxes on eBay by searching for worm gearbox or worm speed reducer. There are a lot of variables to consider like horsepower, gear ratio, input/output shaft size, and desired direction- Worm gearboxes are designed to turn in only one direction. This was referred to as a type 26U but I think that was manufacturer specific so is probably meaningless now.

I'm not sure what you are asking. At 2:56 I show pouring out the oil into a container and around 4:20 I wash any remaining oil out in the safety kleen parts warsher.
Every time I deal with a tube like this it’s always the same, I trim and I trim, and I trim, and then all of a sudden I’ve cut it too big and it makes a big mess. I can never seem to hit the optimum size. LOL.

When are you going to check the preload on your bearings?
would be easy to strip the paint before you assemble it
Amazing video, I hope to see the final product while watching other vids!!!!
I hope so too! lol

Great video. I have to laugh at the one time you didn’t wear gloves was stripping the paint.

@@DIYGene I think non caustic would be a better term. And it’s biodegradable which is why I feel comfortable just power washing it off.
Great demo Pete. Thank you so much 🙏 & I am sharing.
You could not pay a person enough to do what your doing and as good as you’re doing it.
Nice video!
Glad you enjoyed it! thanks for watching.
Awesome rebuild. Asking where can I buy one of these..worm gearbox? What is the ratio on the gears. 1to1. Or 4.11. ?

im exhausted just watching.
LOL! This is exactly the type of project I like to dig into. Enough different stuff to keep it interesting and way easier than digging a ditch. :)

You just have to cut off at the larger tube so the silicone comes out more with less squeezing
