After two years of repairing various parts of our vintage carnival ride, we finally begin to reassemble it. Follow our carnival ride restoration here: • I Bought a Carnival Ri...
I would call this restoration 'miraculous', but that would grossly short-sell the hard work, ingenuity, perseverance, and dedication put into this. So I'll say that I am forever awed by what I've seen, and that any carnival or amusement park operator would be more than fortunate to have you on their payroll.
I think the kinds of companies that rent out bouncy houses would want to buy this ride once it's all fixed up. It would be pretty cool at a kids party or a BBQ.
Pete!!! Congrats on your last video going viral and the amazing progress on the ride! I have watched all of your videos but loved the Recap to start today's video. Reminded me how much attention to detail and hard work you and your family have put into this project. Thanks again for the terrific video.
I really really want to see you rebuild an old Tilt-A-Whirl. No reason. Just wanna see it... OK... really because I see them cheap and I really want to do one myself.
You still made your deadline! Or at least kinda 😅 Why those quick links if there are already some kind of quick links on the cains? Or did they not fit? The car hangs very low to me.
Yeah that will need to be addressed. The existing hooks are way too large for the straps and there were links on the old straps. We’ll probably get rid of the hooks entirely.
Question when you installed the bottom shaft with the chain sprocket did you grease that shaft, it didn't look like you did it. Did you go back and do it later.
Looks like there's still plenty to be done, but you've definitely gotten it over the hump of rebuilding it and making sure it'll live to ride again! Plus you're doing it in a thorough and tasteful way rather than just sandblasting it, hitting it with a lick of paint for the thumbnail, and then it rotting away once you're through because all of the real problems you've done a great job fixing still needed to be done. Great job, and good luck with getting it fully beautified and ready to ride! Too many old machines like this get run into the ground and scrapped when money gets tight. It's good to see one getting a loving restoration and encore life! As for a new shop space, it's hard to beat steel buildings, up in a day, can be insulated between the frame and skin. just don't get one from a side-of-the-rural-highway place that sells them financed unless you're paying for it outright. They're often extortionate with loan rates.
Great job Pete! Definitely made major progress! As far as a building look around for an empty wall mart because no matter what it won't be big enough LOL
Such a cool project. I am 57 and still dream of having my own little carnival rides in my backyard. Maybe a little more exciting than the one in this video, though.

That put a smile on my face seeing the kids go for a test ride.

Thanks so much! I really appreciate it. Hopefully we get it finished up sooner rather than later.

Great progress, Pete. What a tremendous amount of work. Home stretch now! Scott’s a heck of a welder too.
This been one long stretched out project. But I'm glad youre close to the end now. Can't wait to see the finally. Great work Pete.
It really has stretched on. Hopefully that hard stuff is behind us.
Great progress. I know you have to be getting excited to keep going.
Always fun Pete!
You have a good son-in-law there, Mister Pete!

Getting so close! I'm sure it was exciting actually seeing the kids go for a spin.
I like seeing the progress!!
Wow it’s really coming together awesome 👏
Glad to see you finally made some progress on your project.
You and me both!
Wow it’s so good to see the progress on this project and the kids even got a test run 👍
Great to see the progress on the ride and the first riders in probably a very long time 👍
Totally fascinating (as usual). Thank you.
Crazy cool project
You guys just keep at it. Respect!
Just a thought, drop a plum line so the shaft rides more true. That probably why it ate the lower shaft.
Fun ride!
Awesome.

Sooooo...how hard was it to get the kids OUT of the ride?? It is coming along!
Question when you installed the bottom shaft with the chain sprocket did you grease that shaft, it didn't look like you did it. Did you go back and do it later.
We sprayed kroil on the shaft prior to sliding it on. The sprocket has grease fittings and we greased it, and the top bearing after it was assembled.
@@PeteRondeau I know you did that, I watch your videos so close, I pick on the smallest details, always nice work. 🤓
Looking great!
Keep the video's coming!
0:38 hence the good condition maybe
First
Project looking great. An even a test ride.
One of the most important things in life is passing on knowledge to children! Keep it up 😊😊
Muchas gracias hace tiempo que buscaba videos como este para hacer mi propio proyecto, excelente trabajo y muy didáctico
We used to weld trailer jacks on each corner
Put a tesla mottor in it and make it spin 100 rpm 🤣

Thanks for watching and thanks for the tip! I have been looking at them and they do have an attractive price point.
Thanks for the recap! Sometimes it's hard to remember how we got here. Great video! So much fun to see it coming together!
Editing that recap altogether reminded me of how much work we’ve actually done! Lots of little things but some of them are kind of involved
Is it for sale?
Good stuff Pete....Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
Same to you

Very true! LOL!

Well truthfully I’d like to graduate to some more exciting rides as well, but I need to get these ones done before taking on anything else.
@@PeteRondeau Those big rides require a lot of power!
Scott can really lay a bead!
Thanks so much for sharing, this is fascinating!
Quonset hut? cheap, fast, easier to set up, last a long time, lots of volume for the price!
It ticks all the boxes. That just aren’t very attractive looking to stick in the back yard. At least to me.
Got to get that to this year's Wheel Horse show at the South Mountain Fair Grounds.
