I am planning to become an assistant and will be writing a couple cover letters this week, after my laptop gets a new battery. I applied to one office already that is one of three for that business, so my information is on file there. Shadowing has happened, as had patient experience woth bonsing, veneers, and crowns (including breakages!). And I happen to work retail now as well! 😀. Definitely have worked holidays and weekends but it paid off--because retail is EXCELLENT preparation for dental assisting! It gives you the soft skills for this amazing, wonderful career. Thank you for your channel! I am subscribed 🙂.
Dental hygiene is much better paid then dental assistance I would not worry about age you are welcome to succeed at any age I started dental assisting at age 25 and became a dental hygienist at 33 and you can work and go to school!!
That’s your opinion though. Not everyone wants to do hygiene 🤷🏻♀️ we’re glad you did it and like it. And you’re right age it’s just a number, you can do anything you put your mind to it 🙂
That'd what I think I'll do if I like DA .I'm about to start soon and I'm not fond of the injection and drilling aspects of hygiene. But them saying you can't work and go to school for hygiene is wrong
I love that! That’s motivating to me. I love the field; graduated 12/‘22 and have yet to find the right off. I don’t think they understand the speed will come. 🤦🏾♀️ but I won’t give up. I love it too much.
Gabby same thing happened to me. I was going to sign up for medical assistant and ended up doing dental. 10 years later I’m lead assistant at my office and love love love it!
I have my EDDA/EFDA, although it’s not really utilized at my job, and about three years of experience (all at one office) and make $32/hr. Private practice with two doctors, two assistants, and three hygienists
I agree because I am doing Accelerated and go once a week for 12 weeks and I watch your videos to help me !! But idk if I’m being prepared , what did I pay for ? I love this path being in a dental office but idk about the class
I did a accelerated program back in February, that was 11 weeks (it was longer due to Covid) I’m now working in an GD office and I will say that it’s so much more to learn once you start working and learn your dentist. I’ll speak for the school I attended they didn’t at all prepare me for all I had to do🥴 but it’s still worth it to have a entry to dentistry.
On the job training is the best. If you are a hard worker and smart it’s better to go for on the job training and save yourself 10k. I know assistants that did formal training and have worse skills than those who were trained on the job.
Im still learning to know how is to be a dental nurse assisstant.. for 12 year im a assistan nurse for medical before.. im almost amonth for dental assistant
I started in an general dentistry office about 3 months ago and although I like the office and I’ve learn a lot so far, we only work 3 days a weekend I’d like more money. I found an office that’s 4 1/2 days a week and they’re willing to pay my $2 more, what should I do? 🥴
You should call and ask the manager. Say you’re interested in becoming a dental assistant and you would like to shadow an assistant for a day to see if you would like it. Start with the dental office you go to
Yeah im not sure why dental assisting is even available as just an online course people anyone wanting to do dental assisting school online dont do that people like literally dental assisting is something you have to have hands on training doing online schooling only and then going to get a job and working on real patients is not gonna work out well for you and that office is gone have to train you with all the hands on stuff its all hands on work your wasting your money doing just and online program then having to retrain on a job
I am just afraid I will be treated like a CNA, nothing again CNAs but I know from experience CNAs were treated so bad because they weren’t RNs , not sure if that is how DA’s get treated 🥴
Hello 🙃 the dental assisting programs we went to started out with some classes such as basic biology and anatomy. Then you move on to infection control, teeth numbering, procedures, etc. So at the beginning there is A LOT of book work to do before you get into the fun stuff of working with patients. Note that each program varies in their curriculum!
Every program is different literally so this wasn’t a great question to ask but my program first week day 1 we introduced ourselves and what wed like to specialize in when were done and walked around our office and looked at all the equipment and what its used for day two we started X-rays using a nomad we just took bitewings and learned to set up a rinn day 2 we did X-rays and composites day 3 we did X-rays composites and alginate impressions day 4 we started working with stone day 5 trimming and we also have online course work at home to do through the week and our textbooks
So if I wnat to be a dental hygienist..is it better to go to school straight? I dont have any experiences.. i heard it is kinda hard to get into the prgram if you dont have experiences and recommendations
Most ppl that get into hygiene have no dental experience. You don’t have to be an assistant prior to hygiene. If hygiene is your goal it will be quicker to just go for it.
Hey guys. You are really very informative. I like all your jobs. By the way when it comes to age, what age is the oldest dental assistant and youngest?.

I love being a dental assistant. Started in 1992, and still going strong!
I love that! That’s motivating to me. I love the field; graduated 12/‘22 and have yet to find the right off. I don’t think they understand the speed will come. 🤦🏾♀️ but I won’t give up. I love it too much.

I agree because I am doing Accelerated and go once a week for 12 weeks and I watch your videos to help me !! But idk if I’m being prepared , what did I pay for ? I love this path being in a dental office but idk about the class
There is a lot of info that a dental assistant must know! Keep studying hard! Are you doing externships in your program?
Noo, I’m with Accelerated dental assisting academy
I did a accelerated program back in February, that was 11 weeks (it was longer due to Covid) I’m now working in an GD office and I will say that it’s so much more to learn once you start working and learn your dentist. @@COURTNEYVCK That’s EXACTLY how i feel. my program ends next week exactly. I feel they basically teaching me what’s in that dental office only.
Dental assistants do everything! You need to be able to move fast and be constantly moving but also give patients attention 😜 it's crazy but amazing

Girl sit back and relax adulting is not fun enjoy being a child
Y’all awesome 😁
how can you shadow a dental assistant ? do you just go to any dental office and just ask ?

I'm thinking about being an ortho assistant so do I just go to a regular dental assisting school for it?
Great question! Yes! You would still go to s regular dental assisting program and do your externship at an ortho office
@@DentalVibes oh okay thank you 💕
Yeah there’s not ortho dental assisting program its just general dentistry and they touch on everything basically
I am just afraid I will be treated like a CNA, nothing again CNAs but I know from experience CNAs were treated so bad because they weren’t RNs , not sure if that is how DA’s get treated 🥴
We believe everyone in any work environment should be respected and if you aren’t then you need to stand up for yourself 🤗🤗
Depends on the office be careful where you choose to work

Thank you! Age is just a number. We believe you do have to be at least 18 to be a dental assistant
@@DentalVibes Cool!!! Thank you so much🙏
