Seams are definietly more difficult to patch but there are a few things you can try. Using a self adhesive patch you can apply force to the seam with the patch on and most of the time you can get it to seal well. Definitely the hardest patch to make though!

Hey I really appreciate this video. I had a leak in the bottom of my air mattress that I found with feeling the air on my damp lips. I first tired just listening and seeing if I couldn't feel in on my face, but the damp method worked much better. Actually it seemed to be three very small slits in a triangle 1/2 in triangle patten. That made no noise and were very hard to feel even with this method unless I had the mattress really full and I was putting a lot of pressure on it. It would only go down just a little after sleeping on it for several hours. I tried the soapy water method suggested in another video to verify, but it was difficult to get it to bubble. Much more difficult than feeling the air against my wet lips about two inches from the mattress. Also I have small inflatable back pillow that likewise had a hole, but would take and hour or two to deflate leaning against it. This method worked very well for it too, but of course was much easier to find as the surface was much smaller. Thanks again! :)

108travel, if you lightly sand down the flocking/flannel material until it feels like the actual vinyl, you can then patch it in a more secure and easier manner.

I have an 2-month-old Intex twin airbed that's very similar to the one in this video (the flocking is of a lighter shade). A few days ago, it developed a leak at the end of one of those seams, running down the top (to make it look like tuck-and-roll). A split, at the half-rounded end, where the seam joins the rest of the bed. The bed did come w/ some patches, but no glue! What brand of PVC/silicone glue would work best? Or should I just go the suggestion of other videos & grab a bicycle patch kit?

for me i use a single (low to the floor) twin Intex air mattress. they're cheap and the most comfortable and i'm always careful. i use it because i'm a stomach sleeper and is the easiest on my back for that, but it seems after only a couple months every time, it eventually shrinks. nothings been stuck through it and i put 2 underspreads on the bed (one for each side) to prevent any debris from embedding to the material. all my leaks happen on the the seam of the top of the beds (the phelt side). i'd even apply the patch to it in the past but air always escaped so i stopped bothering and just chucked it each time and bought a new one. they were cheap enough. i hope this video addresses the seams wearing away too from nightly use, even though i'm extremely careful how i handle it.

It is mor difficult to patch on a seam but if you use self adhesive patches like the TypeB vinyl patches. Sometimes placing a small patch over the whole and then a larger patch over top of that can help it seal better.

I have slept on a single width air bed every night for years but the beds only last a few months with daily use. Only 1 had a repairable hole all others were in the seam. If you sit on the side of the air bed, you will weaken the seam - usually the bed is useless any time I sit on the side but it's hard to get out of bed without sitting on the side. I try to roll in & out of bed instead.
I have found that a mattress will last MUCH longer if you can support the seam. One way is to put a firm foam strip (about 8" thick & wide) next to the seam so when you put weight on the seam edge it's supported. BUT it's hard to keep the foam in place.
My recent "trick" was to take the last dead bed & cut off the end & slit all but one side of the inside supports (so that the last inside support next to the other side seam is fully supported) & slip the new uninflated air bed inside before airing up. In theory this should disperse the weight off the seam & this recent bed has lasted 4 months so far. Unfortunately this makes the bed smaller, next time I am using the old twin (& removing ALL inside supports) & inserting a full mattress which is 14" wider & see if that will work.
Another suggestion is to goop ALL the seams & let fully dry BEFORE using the air mattress but I've never actually tried this. This may give the seams extra support. I did try taping all the seams with wide packing tape on one bed BEFORE using & that was worthless.
I buy my beds during the winter from Walmart & paid $8 for them last time, usually $15.

I HAVE PATCHED 2 INTEX airbeds at the seams with a thick layer of Super Glue (letting it almost dry) and putting some cheap Gorilla Tape (not the air sealing type found in the Paint Isle at Walmart, which costs $12.something. This one is approximately 1 inch in width and costs $2.97) on it. I put a 10 pound disc weight on the patch for awhile. Nice. everything is fine for a few days. Then a NEW leak surfaces elsewhere! Happened with the two beds. These INTEX beds are horrible! All the leaks are at the seams. These bed were NEVER used outdoors.

    Decent advice. My method:
First, vacuum the mattress using the narrow wand tool to get rid of dust and dirt that will make visual identification difficult. Then:
    1. LOOK - some cuts or punctures will be visible.
    2. TOUCH - slowly move your hands over the entire mattress, at a distance of about 1/2", to see if you can feel air leaving the leak - rather than wetting my lips, as in the video, I'd wet my palms.
    3. LISTEN - in a silent room you can often hear the air as it exits the leak. Ear to the mattress is not quite as unappealing as lips to the mattress!
If possible PLACE THE MATTRESS ON ANOTHER BED OR A LARGE TABLE while you do the work - the harder you make the job, the more frustrating it will be.
Note: You might find an extremely small leak by touch or sound that you can't quite see. Just a little soapy water on the spot will produce a bubble - that's the bicycle repair way.
Prevention is really important: I put a clean quilt or packing blanket on the floor to protect the mattress from anything that could puncture it: something sharp in the carpet, or a sliver or pin, etc, stuck between wood floor boards. If people will be going in and out of the room where the mattress is being used for more than one night, GET IT OFF THE FLOOR - either deflate and put in a corner, or upright it and lean against a wall. Don't let kids play on it, and keep pets off, too.
Roll it up carefully when you put it away. The smaller you make it, the better. Be sure there is nothing left on the mattress as you roll it up - a ball point pen, for instance. Try to store it in a box, where no tools or sharp objects in the closet can get to it - Storing my big Intex mattress in the bag only led to a cut from something - I'll never know what - going right through the bag into the mattress. ANYTHING sharp will want to make a cut or puncture if it's in contact with the mattress.

You could also wet the air mattress with a rag and some water, to easily find the hole. And make sure the mattress is well pumped. Then in total silent listen👂🏽.. The air mattress will start whistling like pewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww.. there's your leak. You're very welcome😏

Cha Lee or wait till night time, pump up the air mattress, turn off the lights, shine a flashlight through the inflation hole and look for the pin light hole shining through the air mattress 🤷🏻‍♀️

Try licking a queen size one,LOL!!I'd use dawn soap and water in a spray bottle for the vinyl sides/bottom.Most of my failures are through the automatic pump.Air goes in yes,but goes out same outlet when you sleep. Do yourself a favor, get an air mattress that automatically keeps your airbed the same pressure!!If it's not automaticaly controlled, don't waste your money!!!I've gone thru a ton of them, especially with the brand name that starts with I and end with X.

An easier way would be to just put some Goop or E6000 on the hole.About the size of a quarter would be enough.Should work, even with the felt still on.
