      The ROIDER'S plan book:
      1. HIDE the STEROID use. Don't ever bring up STEROIDS. LIE & DENY their use when asked. If that doesn't work, go to plan 2.
      2. DOWNPLAY STEROIDS. Tell people STEROIDS doesn't do anything. If that doesn't work, go to plan 3.
      3. COMPARE STEROIDS to other UNHEALTHY things ie. ALCOHOL, CIGARETTES, ETC... "Try" and JUSTIFY using them. If that doesn't work, go to plan 4.
      4. Call them names & CURSE at them.
Even if you admit to using STEROIDS, you still have FAKE muscles and FAKE strength!!!
      Stay natural buddy!

You got a great support system, happy to see that. We all have ups and downs, we know we want to “snap” out of it but just can’t. This isn’t a cheesy plug, you will get a ton of more value out of our most recent Saturday School. Our host Mark Bell is sharing how he is getting through the death of his mother. Well, the two most recent episodes talk about it, but Saturday School is a recording from the day she died. We think it’ll really help. Hope you find time to check it out, it’s episode 19 “I recorded this the day my mom died”. Wishing you nothing but the best.

It's scary that It took all of that time and a ton of Doctors and Hospitals to find out what his problem was. If they would've discovered it in time , he probably wouldn't have lost his leg. What's wrong with our medical system? A lot. It took them almost 15yrs and a ton of Doctors to locate my health issue. Luckily they found it time and I was saved (THANK GOD). Flex, I'm glad that you're still among the living. God be with you Dude.

Flex my heart goes out to you. I remember when you came on the scene and was ALWAYs amazed at your lines, and beautiful presentation. At 54, I’ve been in the game a long time. Two years ago i was diagnosed with Leukemia and treated. In remission now praise God. But I’m familiar with adversity-knee/shoulder surgeries and general wear and tear...coming back now and hoping for a shot at amateur Masters next year-maybe the one at Muscle Beach. As a pharmacist for 31 years and intimately aware of DVTs and treatment I’m shocked this wasn’t diagnosed earlier. Shocked. But God has a plan for you. Beyond what you can accomplish yourself. You’re a strong man my brother, supported still by fans like me. I’ve never commented on a bodybuilding site, so i hope you will be encouraged.

As a healthcare professional, and based the brief history provided, I am truly amazed that the DVT was not diagnosed immediately! From the 10-20 seconds detailing the symptoms that presented I would suspect a circulatory issue off the rip. If I heard correctly that this went on for a year Flex is lucky to be alive.

PJ Celeste why do doctors get away with being absolute crap? When a car mechanic cant fix the car, they dont keep getting paid to work on the car. Ive been dealing with chronic issues and every single time i have to explain my symptoms to the doctors. They have so many preconceived notions. Yet a traditional Chinese medicine doctor can almost immediately figure out whats going on with me at fractions of the cost of seeing a doctor.

Wow, I'm blown away by this news! I was a HUGE Flex Wheeler fan in his prime, the most striated legs of any bodybuilder ever! Flex Wheeler had those three little teardrop muscles in his quads that I've never seen on any other bodybuilder. In my opinion, Flex Wheeler bested Dorian Yates, Ronnie Coleman, Shawn Ray, Paul Dillet, and others. Flex Wheeler had great genetics, he had a great body ratio, great symmetry, and just a well perfect balanced body, but unfortunately in the 90s, bodybuilding was just who had the most mass, those bodybuilders looked like refrigerators compared to Flex Wheeler on stage. All the best to Flex.

Wow. When your life can dramatically change within a blink of an eye. It’s amazing how life could be so good but when your mind is not prepared for the worst it can literally change your life and make you humble yourself because life is not guaranteed. Life will literally break u down if you let it. Things happen to us in life that we just don’t understand why this is happening to me like , Death of a loved one, Marriage, Sicknesses, and Money problems. Everything can so good in your life and all of a sudden you take a test and they tell you that u have 4 months to live and that you have brain cancer. It will be like a Mack truck literally drove over you a thousand times. Life is good take advantage of life don’t let life take advantage of you.

*It was him stopping at Burger King before getting to the hospital for me.😄
    Heart goes out to him..
I knew of these greats from back in the day ..him, Ronnie, Jay & many more, when I dated a bodybuilder & used to go to the competitions & seeing these guys I used to call Condominiums!😊
What they go through & all the insane training, insane diet, all the food.. being around that was such an experience!
I wish the best for him, hope he's well & understands he's loved & respected. Blessings to him for being a spokesperson for amputees!💖

Flex, Seasons Greetings to you and family. The genesis of your start in bodybuilding is gives hope and inspiration to people around the globe. I've followed your career and was inspired to begin such amazing journey and competed at Venice Beach, CA. I used your routines you were gracious enough to share in bodybuilding magazines. My body type is Mesomorph, same as you. You've been a GREAT ambassador to the sport of Bodybuilding. It changed your life in incredible dimensions beyond what you probably expected and because of your meteoric rise to the pinnacle of this grand sport... you changed lives for the better and spawned a new generation of being fit and feeling good about ourselves and ready to take on the world feeling a sense of deep empowerment... So GOD Bless, brother.... You have admirable "GRIT" and resilience!! Just know there's much much love for you...no matter where you my travel or no matter what path your HEART leads you to... WE LUV YOU FLEX....Keep your authenticity .... Keep doing your THING!!

Love Flex, was lucky to meet him in '99 outside the Fire House Cafe in Venice. His condition is due mostly to the decades of drug use, though, not genetics. Learn from Flex's mistakes, pay attention, and change your ways now! Your body can heal itself if you give it the right amount of nutrients and avoid the chemical slop most people are damaging their health with.

It's a relief to know Flex is alive and making the best of this terrible situation, but in following bodybuilding, I feel that the bigger takeaway is learning how miserable so many of the greatest bodybuilders were at the height of their fame.
