The likelihood is is that they just need to raise another half-billion or so in development and maintenance costs and if they manage that then we are possibly looking at flight towards the latter part of Q4 this year.

@@darrenyates7656 This is speculation but I would imagine that “sufficient cash” quite closely translates to “Richard Bransons personal fortune.” I also can’t see a commercially sustainable operation at 450k a pop.

This company will be epic! Im just wondering whos going to be the first to the mergers.
I reckon Virgin Orbit and Virgin Galactic should merge. Then the combine company should take over Stratolaunch. Then they should merge with Reaction engine with the aim to replace all their vehicles with a skylon vehicle powered by Sabre engines.

Could be very useful if carrier planes were scattered about the country. So, rather than simply going up from and coming back down onto the same runway, these spacecraft can be used for commercial transport. Don't know enough to do the math here, but I wonder how far downrange one of these craft could travel based on current design. And how long would a commercial flight last from gate to gate? Including parasitic phase since that extends horizontal travel. Some downsides of course include weather at destination since the craft only glides and has one shot for a safe landing, plus needing a tug at the other end to get it to the gate. Transforming this from a joyride to a schedule commercial transport would be truly transformative. Perhaps over time. The Wright Flyer started out as short joy rides, and is included in the evolution of air and space craft illustrated on the SpaceShipTwo fuselage. Flying across country in only a matter of an hour or two in one of these Scaled Composites craft, or perhaps to a Hilton space station - à la Orion III, is what I hope to eventually experience.
Will we ever see this from Spaceport Cornwall?

nicholas morello tell me about it… I won’t put another dime in and I pray that it comes back to 30+ sometime… the stock and company’s timing of certain events really caught me off guard and have caused a lot of pain
So it's in rough principle it's like one of those "Zero G" airplanes with a very exclusive view? As in, unlike a spacecraft that maintains "weightlessness" at a stable/static altitude, by traveling horizontally at the same rate as it's "falling vertically" back down to earth (or by sheer distance) - this Virgin craft instead; its rocket propels itself up really high but doesn't reach anywhere remotely close to escape velocity before the fuel is out. Therefore it rapidly loses speed until zero then starts falling back down. And it's at _this_ point; the fall, that the experience of "weightlessness' takes place - by the pilots configuring the craft so that the acceleration of its fall/decent matches that of earth's gravity. But the craft can 'only" sustain this braking for equivalent of 4-5 minutes.
The weightlessness begins when the rocket stops the engine, and in this case still goes up. That is also the case for orbital flights. You are weightless when no other force than gravity affects you, so in "free fall". But that "free fall" can also go up. Or down, or fast, or slow, or to the moon or from the moon...
Yes, they don't go into orbit, and so the weightless time is short and limited, but the effect is the same as on the ISS somewhere elese.
