    Getting fit to go to space in 3 days is like getting bikini ready by running through the airport on the way to Cancun XDDDDD. Now seriously, thanks for thorough explanation of the flight process, definitely the most complete I've seen. Very relevant to better understand the experience the company is offering.

    所有失重體驗 (嘔吐彗星飛機、維珍銀河、藍色起源、SpaceX靈感4號、國際太空站),都是一種"自由落體"的過程。
    在國際太空站裏,其失重現象,就是一種"持續"自由落體的過程,並不是"沒有引力"的現象。

    Love it! Although I've been following Virgin Galactic since its inception. Big fan of the Rutan Brothers and Scale Composites. If I had the chance, and I could get myself in shape for it, I would go in a heartbeat.

    Wait, who's Burt Rutan?? I'm not an aerospace engineer so I like that you fill in tons of gaps for me. Fascinating! I was wondering what happened with Virgin Galactic now that SpaceX is dominating the private space flight industry. Do you think VG will try to compete with SpaceX in the space exploration area or remain customer focused? Thanks Jenny!

    • @christopherfrench8201
      @christopherfrench8201 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      VG and SpaceX aren't in the same class; SpaceX is doing very different things - it'd be like comparing a Tour Bus Company (VG) with a semi-truck company (SpaceX). While SpaceX is looking to get into space tourism, it's definitely not it's main focus. A much more likely competitor for VG in the coming years is Blue Origin, which is doing the same thing - suborbital space tourism flights - but in a very different way (vertical launch liquid fueled rockets).

      I believe SpaceX and ULA are focusing on corporate/government contracts to bring payloads into orbit, a field Virgin Galactic's venturing into with LaunderOne. But for now it'd probably be wiser for VG to focus on getting some spaceflights under their belt...

    • @christopherfrench8201

      @@JennyMaAviation LauncherOne + "Comic Girl" are operated by Virgin Orbit, a seperate company from VG. I agree that VG needs to focus on getting their SS2 flights down to regularity, but if VG is going to be spreading into other things, they're going into hypersonic point to point travel, as they have announced a future Mach 3+ passenger aircraft (possibly joining with Rolls Royce for the powerplant), I don't think they've made any move towards cargo launching. VO will only be launching smallsats but it'll do it extremely reliably since Cosmic Girl can fly around any weather problems. Hopefully it'll be an exciting month for Virgin group; VG and VO both intend to launch this month.

    NASA hypersonic X-15 program took 90 flights before they got above the Karman line, an atmospheric boundary at 100 kilometers where space begins...
    When You talk about the Stratosphere, that's only 15 to 20 kilometers high, the altitude atwhich the X-15 and Virgin Galactic craft were relased for launch.
    Question: Crew wore parachutes, which they could only use below 4200 meters as no pressure suits nor Oxygen devices were worn. Moreover, they would have to egress out through the small oval-shaped hatch... or would the craft break up in an emergency to allow easy exit ?

    To correct a bit about the hybrid propulsion system: a hybrid rocket has propellants that are in two different phases. In the case of this and most hybrid motors, that means a solid fuel and a liquid oxidizer. There is just one motor, but having the propellants in two phases prevents the possibility of catastrophic explosion and is more akin to the combustion of something like a really intense campfire.

    Great job! I always look forward to your videos 👍 Fun fact about the 747 used for LauncherOne - it used to fly for Virgin Atlantic, and all Virgin Atlantic aircraft have names. This one, very appropriately, was named Cosmic Girl 👩‍🚀😎 The 747 also happens to already have a wing structure designed to carry heavy loads there, as regular models optionally had the ability to mount a fifth engine in that spot for ferry purposes.

    • @JennyMaAviation
      @JennyMaAviation  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Great video Jenn :) One small caveat though, at 5:25: that's an image of an F-22 'Raptor', not an F-35.
    But you're forgiven; those two things look quite alike. A few clues to tell which is which: The F-22 has two engines, the F-35 one, and the F-22's intakes are angled backwards, whereas the F-35's have a sharp point angled forward.
    And viewing their general shapes, the F-22 'Raptor' is a bit more 'sleek', while the F-35 is a bit bulkier (hense pilots call her 'Fat Amy' :p ).

    they actually didn't even reach space, they didn't even break 300km.
    which is to be expected when using an object that has such high drag, it's simply not possible for the virgin galactic plane to actually reach space because the angle of attack it would need to do so would rip it to pieces due to the sheer velocity of the craft.
    blue origin actually went to space because it's a rocket, not a plane with wings and high drag.
    and elon will soon be the first to land on mars by accident lol.
    either way the virgin galactic flight wasn't even a sub-orbital one, it was just a high altitude flight.
    sorry not sorry

    Virgin Galactic is a rich people RIP-off and it DOESN'T GET TO "Space"! Real space is the Karman Line, 62 miles above Earths surface. Their toy ride only reaches a MAXIMUM Altitude of 48 Miles .... sorry NOT SPACE! USAF Capt retired, 20th SOS, 27th Spl Ops Wing, 20 years.
