61 on 12/16. 42 years in the game. The best advice I can give the younger cat’s is make the gym your sanctuary! This is where you can relieve stress and get stronger physically and also mentally. Life is going to test you and I hope it doesn’t test you so much where it brings you to your knees. Do you and only you! Put the phone down relax on the selfies. Get outside and do stuff. Always stay disciplined, driven and focused. The bottom line is “Father time is undefeated!” Work with what God has given you and you’ll be ok. Semper Fortis!
I just turned 59 and as I have gotten older, I have slowly been able to change my ego driven workout habits of heavier weight, descending sets, cheating reps etc, to this philosophy of lighter weight, more controlled and pause at the stretched portion of the rep. This really works and at our older ages, really saves the joints. I still struggle with ego from time to time, what man doesnt, and when I stray from this, my shoulders will pay me back with some kind of impingement that takes weeks to heal. Its not worth it and its all about muscle fiber activation and constant tension under load. This chest workout demonstration by Rocky is real and works great. Swallow your ego and try it. You will feel the burn more than you do when you go heavier.
I like fitness videos when there is no music at the background, thanks for not including the music, sir. For me this was quite instructive too. Thanks again.
Thanks Rocky, good stuff. I'm 59 and just getting back to the gym over the past month or so. I'm realizing lower weight and proper form is everything at this age.
I will give the chest dumbells a try Rocky .i do quite a bit of land mine. I work out on my own ,so have to be careful as no help is coming if i over do it . I am 83
Brilliant. Thanks for sharing a chest workout that is safe and user friendly. At 68, lifting without getting injuries is paramount. Keep posting! Cheers
This is a man who has not only developed his body but developed his mind. This is the fitness type that you listen to. Someone who has attained premium Fitness through the years most people won't even consider it being a possibility. I've always said anyone in their twenties and thirties can have decent Fitness as youth is on their side. However, what are they going to look like 20-30 years from now. This guy is the real deal and I say his mind is developed as well because he is a man at peace. I love when he says control the weight means you are in control. That reflects emotional intelligence, which is something many men do not have.
Good work rocky clean work I’m doing incline and decline pushups more looking great at 60 keep striving and inspiring the masses happy holidays to you and your family blessings king
This is the man that i want to be around, he is nurturing, i want him to be my mentor, i will be thriving. Give us you nutrition advice, what do nourish your body with.
You look good and I like your training style. Thanks for talking slow, calmly, clearly and no music. How much TRT are you on and do you have diet advice?
Great stuff but I have a different perspective on two exercises. When you put your hands on the bench to do what you described as an incline pushup, yes your body is inclined, but you're actually creating the angle of a decline bench press. When you have your feet on the bench and hands on the floor, that simulates the angle of an incline bench press. I do a similar exercise by putting my feet on the steps of my stairway. I start with my feet on the lowest step and hands on the floor below. Then I do the next set with my feet on the second step, and final set with feet on the third step which gives a pretty steep incline. Though my upper body is in a declined position, it creates the effect of doing preses on an incline bench. Respectfully and I appreciate your video.
Great video. I agree moderate weight that you can control with good foam and technique using High Reps gives you the greatest pump. How many super sets of the flat and incline do you do with wide and close dumbbells
In great shape. Gotta lift your butt way up on those decline though. Core is almost touching the floor. If you raise your butt a little higher than flat, and as you go down, go past your hands.. where your chest is landing a few inches past your hands, makes it way way harder. Then come back to center. It's kinda of like a chest fly but with leaning forward with your body weight. Super tough. Targets the chest more than the arms.
You can do so much training at home and now that the gym scene as change with idiots filming themselves for attention, i have a multi station incline bench, dumbells from 10 to 65 pounds kettelbells all i need. Great training
I can hear some clicking when you are pressing the weights up. likely inpingement in elbow joints/tendons. you should focus on doing some elbow rehab before continueing heavy training, sir.
The arms and chest of this gentleman are INCREDIBLE! Very well-toned and defined, especially for the age of 60, but they're impressive for any age, really. I'm curious, though, as to why the belly is slightly distended, and there are no real defined abs.

I love these OG lifters! No ego, no drama, using old school dumbbells, with a vast knowledge of getting it done.
Lol if you think they're all like this
@JohnSmith-yq4sr yes VERY WISE
Don't forget the old school Tren and Test!
Most of the big ego guys are actually the oldschool lifters sadly. They claim they can break a wall. @JohnSmith-yq4sr
Respect!
I like how you emphasize "do what you're comfortable with"... no ego, just solid advice. Great vid demo and presentation, brah!!!
Much preciated
Yea but don't you need to push out of your comfort zone to progress?

Great advice Rocky. No mauling of dumbbells that are far too heavy and can cause injury, but those that are challenging enough to allow good form
Rocky Rocks! great tempo and control. pause at the bottom, and good stretch.

Rocky. Great video. How often do you recommend working a muscle group like chest, Iegs, or whatever? Time per week? Thanks Sir.
YOU ARE DEFINITELY ABSOLUTELY EXTREMELY INSPIRATIONAL AND MOTIVATIONAL OLD G. I LIFT WEIGHTS 💪💯 FIVE TO SIX DAYS A WEEK 💪
The important thing is you dont need heavy weights after 40 years old. Just proper form, nutrition and dedication to see real results.
