One of East Africa's busiest ports, Dar es Salaam is Tanzania's largest city and commercial center.
A lively waterfront city that blends African, Indian and Arab influences to create a unique urban culture, Dar has sprawled chaotically in all directions in recent decades, but still has plenty of charm.
The africa you will never see on the western media.

My grandfather, Ajaz Khan, helped plan this city in the 60s after training in Washington DC for three years in the 50s (hence gridding "motifs" owing to previous zoning disasters). He also helped plan the capital of Pakistan, Islamabad, after which he was sent by the CDA (capital development authority) to assist in Tanzania and Pakistan's burgeoning ties. My mother lived in Africa for three years and she loved it.

A lot is said about the rivalry between Kenya and Tanzania, but God knows like a sibling I want Tanzania to succeed over every other country. As a Kenyan, I hope to visit Dar soon. Kongole!
We the citizens have developed such an amazing relationships across these two countries. I personally find myself defending Kenya everytime someone is saying something negative about it. The rivalry we have is purely positive, like siblings indeed, kind of challenging each other.

I'm not African by birth and blood but I do imagine Paradise to be a better version of Africa- I imagine a beautiful city with beautiful mansions that have African styled architecture and complete with swimming pools. The city is surrounded by a vast savannah grassland paradise teeming with wildlife including tall giant giraffes 🦒 and zebras 🦓 and a mighty river runs over both the savannah grassland and the city. In that Paradise,there is no war,sickness, death,evil and pain.

It's a commercial city & economic hub of Tanzania and the capital city is in the middle of Tanzania called dodoma but since then government activities conducted in dar es salaam till fifth gvt regime come to power 2015 lead by President Magufuli officially started 2017 to relocate all government activities to dodoma
Relocation started during President Kikwete, prime minister office was ther in Dodoma
One thing that I like about Tanzania is that they have very clean roads, well marked. Kudos.❤️❤️🇰🇪🇹🇿

The Capital city was shifted to Dodoma during the Presidency of Mwl Nyerere the first president of Tz.
It haven't been for long time. Dodoma has always been the capital city, administratively even though many public services were centered in Dar for many years with only branch officers in Dodoma
