Nick Marsh is a British forensic photographer and his work could make the difference between a conviction and an acquittal. That’s why he must approach a crime scene with the shrewd mindset of a criminal investigator, the practical know-how of a forensic scientist and the integrity of a careful, honest photojournalist. A straightforward portrait of a distinctive line of work, David Beazley’s film is also a compelling argument for the value of experts in the age of the amateur.

A delicate job. Very narrow branch of life. You created a profession of that. That is amazing. Cameraman, another detective.

He’s absolutely right. It’s not the camera that’s important, it’s the light

I would agree that the light is important but the camera used is not irrelevant. The type of camera, film speed, composure, and other things are all important.

      Bruh! What ??? 😂
Yea... All the best. Compete with your lower than mediocre camera with top of the line light setup in the photography industry

I want to do this when I'm older. Dead bodies and blood and guts have never bothered me. Mine as well put it to use

Have to agree, I see people saying they couldn't work with dead bodies but for some odd reason people don't seem to feel the same way when it comes to animals and butchers

Wow.. far more advanced than I ever imagined..
But gatekeeping photography? Really? Lmfao "Unless you own the tens of thousands of dollars worth of equipment we have and know how to use all of it, you're not a photographer"
A photographer is anyone that takes photos worth keeping. Doesn't matter if it's with a cheap iPhone or an expensive dslr, anyone can be a photographer. Perhaps you're looking for the term PROFESSIONAL photographer? Yeah, obviously not everyone that owns a camera is a professional photographer.
"Everybody's got a truck, an SUV, even a small sedan. It doesn't make you a driver, it just makes you someone who owns a vehicle"
See how stupid that sounds? There's casuals in everything, then there are professionals. And everything in between.

that't not what he was saying. what he was saying is that an expert level of knowledge and equipment is required to present photographic evidence in court with distorting the facts. there's a reason only expert witnesses can present certain evidence because they have a deep understanding and can explain the image to a jury. he by no means was referring to everyday or photography in general; specifically forensic photography.

@@stacyj6561 manual photography really isn't hard though. You just need to understand how exposure works and how adjusting iso/asa, shutter speed and your aperture will affect the exposure. I shoot manual for most of my photos and on film my camera only has manual options
