This happens every time a hyped game releases. MASSIVE PLAYER COUNT and then players leave for another game. It has happened again and again. Lost Ark. Palworld. Helldivers 2. Even MMOs have this happen, including FF14 and WoW, the two titans in the MMO space. They get a HUGE surge of players when an expansion launches, and then the player count falls off a cliff until the next big patch. It's NORMAL. So there really isn't any shocking news here.
I got the game right at launch and I still enjoy it. However, the team over patches doesn't realize that they have a whole community telling them what they want to see changed and they aren't listening or caring. I'm going to keep playing until Space Marine 2 comes out but if they fix everything that players are concerned with I may balance out both games.
I dive in for a 3-5 missions a day. If launch solo my squad fills out before I collect my support items. Player base has been awesome as well. Had some hilarious conversations and great team mates. It’s a lot of fun.
They dropped a whole game-wide rebalance that made 80% of guns good and about 60% of calldowns good, with only the solid laser weapons still being crap and all but a couple orbitals being viable now
Not gonna lie, it's had it's ups and downs. But they have been able to keep some of us still playing it. I always have a blast especially if I play it with friends.
big update lol they wont recover if making those throwing knife and make it to replace your grenade spot you know they cant recover it feel like non-binary are making those update thats why its lame shitty and useless ;)
Im not surprised tbh. Most games these days are based off of tiktok hype. Gaming has become a trend and the players that stay playing are the targeted audience. 45k is still a good number considered its literally just a horde shooter.
Helldivers died solely due to poor balancing, there is one person responsible for its death and he still works at the studio. The horrible mismanagement and not immediately firing the fool who destroyed the game cost them everything. They deserve their 20k concurrent player count they have these days.
It's not solely due to poor balancing, but it's one of the two reasons that there's fewer players now. In July this year, HD2 lost 20k players of its 43k average. August had the first big update, the Escalation of Freedom update. They were pushing that shit like it would change everything. But all they did was add one more difficulty, one warbond, and nerfed literally everything. The average player count "skyrocketed" from a measly 24k, to a measly 24.5k. The player gain was 645. After a big update. Nothing new to do in the game whatsoever, on top of them constantly nerfing whatever the players have to use to get past difficulty 5 (the devs themselves can't get past the fifth) is what's killing the game.
wow you guys are really bad at this game. Really. Difficulty 5? Stay away from SuperHelldive man you will get PTSD if you think 5 is anything but a relaxing sight seeing stroll with the jump pack
I just started about two weeks ago. I can't comment on the nerfing of weapons because I haven't been around long enough to know the difference. My only complaint is that war bond progression is slow. It's as hard or as easy as you want it to be--that's what difficulty selection is for. It's the most fun I've had with a game for a long time. I'll keep spreading democracy for the foreseeable future.
@@JampackSam And you also have to account for the fact that not all of those players are the same people each day. Helldivers 2 is very casual so people could play it once a week without any real risk of missing out.
Seems like it turned around pretty decent atm. You did good with this clip trying to cash in on the games downfall tho. Good job!!! I predict a no mans sky outcome, gamers are hard to please, usually its a hype phase followed by a drop off and if the devs do well its a steady increase to a platoe. The devs actually seem to give a crap about this project so i wouldnt worry too much, just keep giving them usable constructive feedback.
Yeah the Sony shenanigans didn't help, but what did for me was that whenever we get an actually effective weapon or stratagem, its only a matter of time before it gets nerfed into being literally useless. I want to have fun slaughtering bugs and bots, sure I can understand making certain enemies more challenging on higher difficulties, and have not played anywhere below level 7 in the past 4 months I'm fine with a challenge. But when all it becomes boring and not fun is when I mag dump an enemy that before I could easily dispatch with the right tools and tactics but now is virtually immune to damage including in it's "weak spots."
I really wish I had played helldivers 2 in its peak sadly I don’t have a ps or pc and won’t be getting one for a while unless it comes to Xbox I can’t be there now but when I can and am hell will rain down on the bugs and bots
Don't worry, it's still an crazy good game, and I think soon some more things will happen. (Like the illuminate showing up on the map temporarily a few days ago, teasing that they might invade soon)
Unfortunately Pumpkinpirate... It's likely going to remain a Sony exclusive game for a good while. Sony is definitely being a hard @$$ on the whole exclusivity thing.

Its not that I fell off of helldivers... I just fell off gaming... because my house fell off due to the wood rotting lmao. Fixed it up, but been playing some older games. Started collecting and playing 360, doing a deadspace playthrough rn
My husband explained to me (PS5) him and all his friends stopped playing because of the constant nerfing that makes the game impossible to enjoy because it’s now impossibly hard.
If there’s 100 people fighting the bots then I’m one of them if there’s 10 people fighting the bots then I’m one of them if there’s one person fighting the bots then it’s me if there’s zero people fighting the bots I’m dead
They need to add longer ops or idk make the groups bigger. 8-10 people should be able to drop in on the helldivers difficulty and the one before it since it’s a high level of difficulty.
My gamer group has 10 people. One of us got unjustified ban on games discord. When we questioned that we got also banned. In the end we moved back to old school runescape.
honestly, at first I really enjoyed the game, and I had a group of friends from work who I'd play with. But then they started to ween off of it and every group of players I came into contact with were terrible and at times toxic to the point they were killing other team members and evacing on their own. So, I stopped.
A lot of us quit the second Sony stuck their greedy fingers in the mix and tried that whole account log in thing. I have not played since the day that was announced. And even if they ended up retracting that decision, it was too late. Never wanted to play again after that.
Rn it’s the middle of summer, many people are just doing what they want during the no work stuff. In fact the dev team and creator of Helldivers are recommending people to have the summer off and stuff because they can get major bugs fixed over the time. Like flinging and unit bugs.
The constant kicking from the game and getting all way to an end of a 30 minute mission to lose all progress made me fed up, still love the game but it's rough around the edges still
The biggest hit by far must've been the screaming servers and constant struggle to just to go through one mission without a crash or disconnect. This had me and all my friends playing stop cold turkey but now the game is enjoyable and we're comming back
Yeah this shits normal. Happens during summer to ALL games. Look at the player count charts throughout the year for other games, they show the same thing. People just play less games in the summer cos it's generally the time that people vacation, with things like summer break and hot weather opening up time and opportunity to travel and do stuff that just isnt as viable the rest of the year, and so people generally play less games.
Helldivers has always been like L4D2. It's a game you hop on with your boys when all your schedules coordinate and you play play for years and years to come.
Helldivers 2 you don't just fight bugs, you endure them. Honestly got it recently and at level 8 I had my fill. It is fun for a few goes then it gets really rinse and repeat along with the music. I am trading it in next week. I am bored already. I also had a mission that crashed and in the last few days I have been stuck onnthe helldive screen several times. Just crap.
This happens with every game that’s trending it will get a massive amount of hype , people will play it say it’s the shit and eventually a few months later people will get tired and move on , I knew this was gonna happen when this game was popping
This game's downfall wasn't due to the guaranteed player drop off all games experience, it was purely because of Sony. They completely killed their game and is entirely their fault. The game still could be massive, but their requirements for a PlayStation account is the pure reason why it isn't. When it first started to explode in popularity, the account wasn't required, so everyone could happily play. But when they forced players who already bough the game to make an account, that's what killed it. A huge portion of the world don't have access to make those accounts because of their country. And people who could still make them didn't out of spite for Sony because they didn't agree to it when they bought the game. It worked perfectly fine without the account, and it's out of greed that the account was ever required. Yeah, it's not 'dead', but it could still be larger than it currently is. It could've still been a decent size if the game required an account from launch, and not when a bunch of people already bought and played it when it wasn't needed.

Take a break try something new, and come back when new content comes, we'll still hold the lines until reinforcements arrive but the need to motivation to return
@@shadowwolf3419 I can't fathom why anyone would freak out when the party size is 4 helldivers XD
No most people aren't playing elden ring period because it's not normal to enjoy dying 2752 times just to get a little bit better
@MMDVAWARENESS LOL 😆 this made me laugh. Other then boss fights I probably die more in Helldivers 2 then Elden Ring. Both games are focused around your character constantly dying. If it were ment to be easy everyone would play it, it's Elden Ring, not Here is the Ring.
Not sure why everyone's acting like this is a big idea. Every game drops off after awhile.
90% loss isn’t a drop off, that’s a crash out
@@saulohm911 Reminds me of the battlefield 2042 hype. They lost similar amount. 90% is abnormally high for helldiver's.
If They released it on Xbox and switch it would hit the 500,000 player mark but they refuse to let us play it on these consoles so they're fault too since they said its a PlayStation only game so DEMOCRACY!!!!.
Pk xbox maybe, but switch is a no go.
I'm not playing Helldiver 2 anymore. 😤 Don't trust Arrowhead play again whenever they get their act together if they do 😤
Yes what the hell with keypad. Want sprint L3 fuck up mother finger.
I will never abandon my post aka helldivers2
First it was aviable everywhere on earth, now it is not in 177 countries from 195.
The drop in freeze is anoying AF if they dont fix it soon ill stop playing too
I got the game right at launch and I still enjoy it. However, the team over patches doesn't realize that they have a whole community telling them what they want to see changed and they aren't listening or caring. I'm going to keep playing until Space Marine 2 comes out but if they fix everything that players are concerned with I may balance out both games.
Oh look! a Gaem Jurnalizt telling us that Popular Games cannot maintain their popularity for long...
CAPTAIN OBVIOUS IS AT IT YET AGAIN!
Vera Libertas.
Avenge us you who know that words.
playing hd 2 was like coming to work, same thing everyday. that's why
So destiny but worse
I'll admit you need friends to play long term
I dive in for a 3-5 missions a day. If launch solo my squad fills out before I collect my support items. Player base has been awesome as well. Had some hilarious conversations and great team mates. It’s a lot of fun.
A popular game losing most of it's player base after some time?!?!?!?!?!
I can't believe it
Still has 100k+ players on Playstation so I wouldn't say dead
Like Arnold Said…. “I’ll be back”!
A fundamental misunderstanding of why the game is falling off. The real reason isn't the Sony shit, it's the terrible weapon balancing.
80% of weapons aren't viable, 30% of strats are lame.
They dropped a whole game-wide rebalance that made 80% of guns good and about 60% of calldowns good, with only the solid laser weapons still being crap and all but a couple orbitals being viable now
fundamental misunderstanding of the game 💀 git gud meta slave
They rebalanced everything and now its much better
@@abyssaldragon1099a couple months too late
Not gonna lie, it's had it's ups and downs. But they have been able to keep some of us still playing it. I always have a blast especially if I play it with friends.
Next big update should give it a new high imo
Great can't wait for people to make cringy game quotes again...
@@junatah5903 You have been reported to the nearest democracy officer.

big update lol they wont recover if making those throwing knife and make it to replace your grenade spot you know they cant recover it feel like non-binary are making those update thats why its lame shitty and useless ;)
Yeah if it doesn’t make the game more unplayable on a technical level
I don't play it all the time but it's great to come back to once a week to play and that's how most ppl r about it
Im not surprised tbh. Most games these days are based off of tiktok hype. Gaming has become a trend and the players that stay playing are the targeted audience. 45k is still a good number considered its literally just a horde shooter.
We're so back
Helldivers died solely due to poor balancing, there is one person responsible for its death and he still works at the studio.
@@bicualexandru246 You completely missed the point. Hell, you'd miss it if it hit you in the face.
They already sold the game to many people. It’s still fairly popular and has a healthy player base I’d say it’s doing fine enough for a hit single.
Its summer all games lose players in the summer look it up also we are still completing major order in record time
I think the problem is limiting it from lots of countries on steam
Were back
Hell yea we are, almost 100,000 people were on lastnight 🎉
I just started about two weeks ago. I can't comment on the nerfing of weapons because I haven't been around long enough to know the difference.
My only complaint is that war bond progression is slow. It's as hard or as easy as you want it to be--that's what difficulty selection is for. It's the most fun I've had with a game for a long time. I'll keep spreading democracy for the foreseeable future.
This generation is learning the hard way what happens to "Halo Killers"
No one said helldivers 2 is a halo killer though
Only halo can end itself
Seems like sonys giving arrowhead every reason to use the Xbox port they already have built
This should be a great reminder to every company
Dont get greedy. 😊
I think people blow these things out of proportion, games like this go up and down all the time with content release's
I mean that player count isn't bad right?
Not at all, especially for a game of this size.
For comparison, Halo Infinite hovers around 4K daily on Steam.
@@JampackSam yeah i was gonna say coz the finals it around 15k and it seems to be doing fine
Such statistic should be brought up for comparison
@@JampackSam And you also have to account for the fact that not all of those players are the same people each day. Helldivers 2 is very casual so people could play it once a week without any real risk of missing out.
It is very bad .
I just got the game. The battles are just insane to me. That and I just got a PC 3 weeks ago.
Seems like it turned around pretty decent atm. You did good with this clip trying to cash in on the games downfall tho. Good job!!! You content creators are shining examples of perfect humans 😊
without the several hundred content creators making content that preys on the downfall and failure of games, I would never know whether or not games are good anymore. Holy moly I can’t thank you enough for making bland, empty and unnecessary content!!! You are so awesome at what you do, I’m flabbergasted 😲
@@FighterGlitchWho cares? They ruined the game and everyone left.
@@silver4831And they made it better again and doubled their player counts overnight.
Unfortunately Pumpkinpirate... It's likely going to remain a Sony exclusive game for a good while. Sony is definitely being a hard @$$ on the whole exclusivity thing.
Quit some time in march or April, just came back and am having tons of fun
Remember the creek 🫡
Wanna know smth crazy, yesterday at 9 PM EST, TSB from Roblox had like 125k playercount
Just wait…
When the winter holiday hits
And the update then too…
Yep, already climbing like crazy just today. Everyone seems to be as excited about this update as I am.
@@plzletmebefrank people will just be people and try to milk the algorithm saying Helldivers II is dying.
It’s really not, many people still want to play the game and are just caught up in work or school and once that winter holiday hits democracy will once again be spread to new reaches!
@@RandomizedTH-camr012 I do think that if this update has gone badly after all the hype built up for it, it would have really hurt the game and made it so some players would never come back no matter what.
But it seems like they've knocked it out of the park if the response of... Everyone is accurate. Which. It's everyone. So yeah.
You were right just earlier then what you expected
when they finally drop the third enemy faction there will be another huge influx of players and probably some longer retention. I think the whole meta game of the galactic war will feel a lot more interesting and exciting with the added threat of the illuminate. Having a third enemy faction will also just give more variety to the gameplay and that should also help. Vehicles will be added in at some point as well.
Its not that I fell off of helldivers... I just fell off gaming... because my house fell off due to the wood rotting lmao. Fixed it up, but been playing some older games. Started collecting and playing 360, doing a deadspace playthrough rn
I mean, people just move on.. I hate this metric of "success"
It’s summer like come on
My husband explained to me (PS5) him and all his friends stopped playing because of the constant nerfing that makes the game impossible to enjoy because it’s now impossibly hard.
Here after the game win 4 prizes at the Golden Joystick 💀
45k it's a really good number, many "big" games that have been there sometimes for years, never reached this kind of stable amount of players
It's Summer, all games drop huge % now
If there’s 100 people fighting the bots then I’m one of them if there’s 10 people fighting the bots then I’m one of them if there’s one person fighting the bots then it’s me if there’s zero people fighting the bots I’m dead
Happy that they redeemed there self the show must go on
Well, at least we have Concord.
😂
They need to add longer ops or idk make the groups bigger. 8-10 people should be able to drop in on the helldivers difficulty and the one before it since it’s a high level of difficulty.
Aaaand it's back with 100k+ players with 55k on PC alone.
"When to xbox does the game provide, you shall see me drop in with my smart a.i."
ITS THE SUMMER. This happens to a lot of live service games in the summer, that time when people go out side touch grass and go on vacations
I’m still waiting for the explanation of why
It's back, baby!
It's more fun than EVER, man its good!
My gamer group has 10 people. One of us got unjustified ban on games discord. When we questioned that we got also banned.
In the end we moved back to old school runescape.
The only reason im not playing is because i don't have ps+ or online
honestly, at first I really enjoyed the game, and I had a group of friends from work who I'd play with. But then they started to ween off of it and every group of players I came into contact with were terrible and at times toxic to the point they were killing other team members and evacing on their own. So, I stopped.
The flesh is temporary; the Holy Spirit is eternal.
I’d still be playing if every unreal engine on my newly made PC wasn’t crashing every five minutes or less
A lot of us quit the second Sony stuck their greedy fingers in the mix and tried that whole account log in thing. I have not played since the day that was announced. And even if they ended up retracting that decision, it was too late. Never wanted to play again after that.
No one is to blame but the developers…..I stopped playing after the first week of nerfs and buffs
Actually, only a month after this was posted the player count went on the rise again
I hope this game foesnt fully die
Translation: The helldivers community has almost cured the brain rot with a 90% success rate.
HD2 is fun to hop on with friends when you don’t know what to play. We will randomly play it when we don’t want to play a sweaty multiplayer game
Thank god they removed it before there game died
This is like a perfect time for xbox to slide in with Sony and kinda revive the game at least
Taking a break for now but I will definitely come back in the fall to winter. Usually when I start doing my military games
