@@okiegrad2007 here's a clue about mushrooms in the wild. If they're bright red, or yellow, they're more likely to be poisonous. Also, look for signs of the mushrooms having been nibbled on. If some animal in the woods has nibbled on it, it should be safe to eat (...unless, of course, there's a rabbit laying nearby, foaming at the mouth, and totally out of it....) Chantrelle Mushrooms are also pretty plentiful, and tasty. Kinda taste like chicken...

Excellent video! Foraging for food is a lost art. There are many things we can eat that most of us have no idea are out there in all sorts of environments. I personally love mushrooms and have never had a bad experience, worms or not. I'd love to see more of you finding food in the environment you're in! I think we could all benefit from that!

After you see us what samll risk are about eating mushrooms from the forest, I never eat stuff like that anyway, it is to dangerous to pick something out off Mother Nature without any kwonledge what you are puting in your mouth....We from the Netherlands have no idea what musrooms are save to eat wich one dont. It is prohibit to pick mushrooms from the forest or anywhere els...My husband he grows mushroom at home and it is difficult to let them grow, but he succeed and some off them taste like bacon !! The forest you are in is amazing and so green!! Millie likes it to and is happy to be there !! Nice video Ethan and like the way you are making these videos, and we loved to watch them !!

Ethan, hi there. I know it says you posted this video about two years ago so it’s been a while. I ran across your channel maybe two months ago, and it is now November 2023. Your videos, and your stories, are my most favorite of any TH-cam videos I watch. You are so sweet, smart, intellectual, and innovative. It does sound as if you have a boyfriend, and if so, may I say, he is the luckiest man on earth. Or pretty darn close to it. Yes, I am quite a bit older than you, and I am not trying to hit on you. But your stories bring back so many memories that I wish I would’ve had in my life. But I spent most of my life in the closet. I didn’t really even meet my first gay friend until the mid 1990s. Even then, we didn’t really learn the truth about each other until maybe 2014. I won’t get into the details of what happened one very special night that year, but since then we had become inseparable, and I experienced love for the first time in my life, yes, he was 18 years younger than me, but it worked. Each of us, became the others half, if that makes any sense. Unfortunately, I lost him to a stroke at the age of only 42, and have missed him ever since. But when I was your age being out and having the fun that you are able to, and being open about yourself, just wasn’t in the cards. I had to hide, and pretend I was Mr. straight, perfect. But watching your videos, even though I didn’t get to experience all of that fun, almost, makes me feel like I did. You do such a fantastic job of bringing us into your travels, it almost makes us feel like we are there. That is so cool, and it brings light to every dark day that I may be having. I am so glad that this world is changing, so that guy your age can openly express himself and enjoy life as you do now. You are so much inside like I was at your age. I love nature, flowers, dogs, cats, and all kinds of animals. Which, besides a dog, the elephant is my favorite lol. What I wouldn’t give to be able to go back in years to when I was your age and meet someone just like you. Once again, I am not a weirdo trying to hit on you. I am not a troll I am just a real person, That can recognize a really cool one when I see them and you are a very special one. I am in Illinois just south of Chicago, and to just meet you on your travels sometime, and just having the pleasure of speaking to you for five or 10 minuteswould be amazing. But I am a realist and know that probably can’t happen. So you guys take care of yourselves always, and please, please stay safe.

actually, there are plastic laminated fold out cards that you can get (at, say, REI) that will show you what's safe to eat, and what you should leave alone. Generally, if you taste a little bit, and it's bitter, probably not something to eat. Most of what's in the Forrest will be safe to eat, in fact.

hope you have a book on these wild things u eat. I'd rather eat all my food from Dollar General, they have the best outdoor stuff, veh stuff, food, evert shaped container, pots/pans, dental care, car care/cleaning products, sower curtains & stuff that can double for anything you need it for. Despite if you've ever been mistaken as straight or not, I again recommend u carry a pepper/O.C. Defense spray, a machete, pocket knife always & other items, preferably a firearm, after learning to fire a small caliber pistol at any indoor/outdoor range! Matthew Shepard lived in a messed up state, I'm sure you've stayed in Wyoming & they hate us queens. Shepard coulda been more aware & take less risks, but no one wants to see a repeat of his sad, early murder. Visit any "Army/Navy Store" & I guarantee you'll learn some stuff & fall in love with some of the camping-survival related items that ease life on the road. Some cool shirts too, you'd be set in an squirmy situation if u had shirts like: 1 green Boarder Patrol, 1 USMC, 1 grey Army, 1 black w/Security in white...anything that may deter scuzzy folks from stealing from u. They have a tom of can openers, nail clippers, survival knives & related type items. I love going...shorts & pants w/a lot of pockets are available too. Around July 4th, stock up on smoke balls (cheap/diff colors), pushes animals away & allow you to slip away. Consider a BB gun, if you can't handle a simple .22cal pistol. May save u from a bear, a pervert, theif or group of gypsies or hippies. Always lie or bluff to people about what u have, that u really don't have. Act like you knows answers to things, but that your memory is bad...you'll seem sharper than you look.
