Is Nikon Z6 III a low light machine? BIRD PHOTOGRAPHY in tough conditions

- Finally I got to test the new nikon z6 III in the field. I found a large woodpecker chick. So it was a nice bird and situation to test out this great camera. In the dark forest I could also test out the ISO performance of this camera. And I was impressed. Even on ISO 10000 it was much cleaner then I expected. And all the images I show in the video is without any form of noise reduction.
My conclusion is that I really like this camera for bird photography.

Wow beautiful shots Trond and the midges looked a nightmare
Amazing Trond. You managed to get the shots despite those midges - Legend!
Thanks! Those where painful :)
Mesmerizing!!!❤❤
The way you took shots and filmed the woodpeckers and it's chick are amazing!!
Beautiful shots!!
This photo shows a message too that how parents care their young ones, their love for them. Parents caring is same in Birds, animals and humans. It's a great nature
Beautiful nature!!
Thanks for such a beautiful insight of nature!!
Thank you so much! I agree. It was awesome to witness.
amazing content!!can't wait to see you use our trail camera
Lovely pictures, we had a woodpecker nest in our field and guest what we didn’t take our camera well gutted.
So I was so pleased to see that you were enjoying taking photos of what you saw.
Thanks for sharing, see you next time😊😊
Thank you for the support!
I always admire your tenacity and the quality of your work, Trond. If you will put some mosquito repellent on your hands and then put on a pair of mesh gloves with the rubber dots to keep them from slipping you can keep the bugs off and not get any of the plastic melting repellent on your equipment. The mesh head net you had on works pretty well but you need to put bug repellent on your cap and the back of your head. Or... you could have a medic standing by to give you a blood transfusion when you get out of the woods. I have been there and done that so I know what it's like. Nevertheless, your spotted woodpecker shots were spectacular and the processing couldn't be any better. Youdaman, Trond.
I tried mosquito repellent, but did not work.
Hi Trond, you are an amazing photographer & shows us what it takes into getting those spectacular shots despite the odds! Well done!
BTW what is that really nice portable chair you carry? Would you mind sharing the make/model please
Thank you :) It is from Tragopan.
Another excellent video, thanx! I'm really impressed by the quality of the high ISO images - very impressive.
Thanks a lot for your kind words.
Excellent video, thank you.
Great video in brutal conditions. Well done Trond!

Thank you Angela!
Wonderful video and photos!
Thank you so much!
cool
Wonderful ♥️🙌🏻
Thank you!
Great stuff Trond. Would love to hear more about what you think about the camera. I watched Morten's video last night and he specifically mentioned the low light capability of the Z6iii.
Thank you! I will make more videos on it :) The ISO performance is just awesome. My pictures taken with ISO 10 000 was breathtaking. I am impressed.
Great shots...with that excellent gear
Thank you so much!
Hi Trond, very nice video from you amazing.
Thank you so much Marco!
Шикарно :)
wow, i need to get back into wildlife photography again
Great plan :)
Great shots!
Thank you!
Gorgeous work, as always. :) Did you buy the Z6iii or return it? What is your usual workhorse camera body?
Thank you so much for the compliment. I returned it. But I am gonna buy it for sure. I use Z9 as my main cam.
Props for doing such nice work under those damn bugs! Used to live in Minnesota and "fondly" remember those bugs - not! The heat in Phoenix is really not any better.
Gotta ask, what does the Z6iii bring to the table the Z9 does not; for you? Owning the Z8 and Z9, not sure if the Z6iii would fit into my kit or not.
It was a bit challenging with the bugs ;) I have to say weight and ISO performance
Dear Trond thanks a lot for sharing your passion, always top notch 🤘🤘🤘,
Question please, what usually are the size of your vertical and horizontal pictures for posting in social media? Take care always Trond 🤘
Wow.....thank you! I use 2500px on longest side for social media.
@@trondwestby5264 fantástico Amigo, take care un abrazo 🤘
Those midges look as bad as the west coast of Scotland. Your camouflage headgear with the net face looks like a good bit of kit. The z6III looks good!
It was bad indeed :)
Ever thought about an umbrella?
😂
How do you find the SanDisk card in the Z6iii? I found they got too hot in my Z6ii and started using PowerGrade instead.
I never faced that problem with sandisk myself. And I used a lot of them
You got a dud. It’s common since Nikon cameras are made in China. I would return it and wait for the R5 mark ii 😊
I see the autofocus hunted in video, how was the autofocus overall? did it hunt alot?
Just in video....but that was my fault. Had a wrong auto focus setting on video.
Subscribed and liked and watch your vids. Just wonder if I can get the same from you ;-) I'm mostly "immerged" in concrete now but nature is my true nature.
By the way, Z6 iii is my dream camera to upgrade - I'm still stuck with the old and faithful Z6 original. Nikon priced it a bit too ambitiously in my country

Why would any serious wildlife photographer buy a z6 over a z8?
The price and ISO performance :) It was amazing at high ISO
