    Too many complaints here. We are lucky this gent was nice enough to show us how to make sure WE don't mess up our go at vinyl wrapping. Fast forward is available for those in a rush. Thanks Garage Legacy for uploading this tutorial ;-)

    For the past three months I have been learning by trial and error practicing on my car's interior I have learned there are cheap versions of vinyl out there some even have Avery labeling on the back of the wrap.
    If any of you are thinking about tackling a similar project do yourself a favor and do a lot of resurch first and one last thing pay a little bit more and buy Avery or 3M vynil, you will save yourself a big headache. These guys that do this for a living they have a lot of my respect
    Happy wrapping

    I dnno what the complaints are about, listened and watched whilst at work and found that I was informed more about everything that I needed to know. It might of been sped up to 5 mins but you'd of missed certain points and I'd be hoping it would be quicker when doing it myself.
    Thanks man!

    Nice demo. I am planning my first attempt at vinyl wrapping soon for a seat cowl. This has really made it look easy. I suspect I will make a hash of it but at £5 for 1.5m x 600mm I reckon I can have a few attempts before I resort to paint!

    • @MatchboxGarage
      @MatchboxGarage  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you screw it up - just heat it up and start again!
      You will have enough for 4 or more attempts if required but you will do it on the first!

    vinyl is easy to work with if you understand how it works. takes time and practice to get down a technique. i have been working as a vehical wrap installer for about the past 5 months and can tell you i still struggle with big stuff. the smaller stuff like this is much harder to work on then big panels. you have to be patient and remember vinyl is best applied at a temperature of about 150-180 degrees (its like goo) so lay your piece on the item first then heat n stretch. always use heat! heat is more important than a squeegee.

    • @efini_fc4276
      @efini_fc4276 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm in the middle of trying to apply fabric-backed vinyl to my door panels. Idk if you know the shape on a second gen rx7, but there's a huge curve/peak in it. Not sure if I can really heat and stretch my fabric over it! Any advice??

    • @mikel9567
      @mikel9567 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      danieleli1199 A good squeegee is worth it's weight in gold though. Much more effective than using a finger and will yield a tighter adhesion with sharper curves and less airbubbles. Your right though, heat is very important.

    • @blakejohnson8414
      @blakejohnson8414 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +danieleli1199 I heard that you are supposed to heat it and pre-stretch the vinyl before you apply it because once it cools it shrinks and hugs the material a lot more which means less chance of peeling.

    do you think this would work on the front fairing of a motorcycle? i was thinking of the plain gloss wrap rather than the carbon fibre as im not sure how it would stand up to washing etc.Its not a large area as the lights and windshield take up a lot of it,i was more concerned about the fiddly bits but after watching your video im a bit more confident about that now,Thanks.

    • @MatchboxGarage

      Hi Marie-Clair. The vinyl that I have used is not suitable for outside use.
      BUT you can get some vinyl that can be used. Search TH-cam for bonnet/hood wrapping for ideas.

    • @GoodMods
      @GoodMods 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Kcufdurt Tnuc A hair dryer will work fine.
      some wraps just have different temperatures to work with. I have vinyl that stretches at 30 - 40 °C and forgets its memory about 80 - 90 °C so it holds its form.
      I use hair dryers most of the time, it works great ;)
