    The key to be happy everytime buying a nsw tv is , make sure it is better than your existing 7 yr old tv . once you bought it , dont ever bother to read about newer models , tv reviews etc for another 7 years , or your tv is damaged . it is easy right . save money and headeache .
    20 years ago , when we bought a tv , we were so happy and tv lasted more than 10 years . hapinesss is inside our mind . do not let others influence or tell you whst to do in life .

    Fun anecdote, this year I found a new in box LG E8 OLED (2018) at a store. They had lost the tv for some time and had recently added it back into stock. Their system showed the original price around $3500, and when I asked for the clearance price the punched it in and....$400. I've never bought a tv so fast in my life.

    One big consideration for me concerning whether to get a CX or C1 is the VRR issues reported in the CX model. My understanding is that variable refresh rate exposed a panel problem with overcharged pixels causing raised black levels and/or flickering. Where I live ''Store prices'' at launch are usually very, very not-set-in-stone so to say. Q90T had a 2000+ launch price, but you could get it for 1599 if you simply asked. Then when the price actually dropped to 1600, you could only get another 100 off by bargaining and it wasn't until the end of November you could get a much better price than that here. So if you're interested: just ask if they're up for making a deal and you might save yourself waiting 5+ months ;p No guarantees, but it might just work. For instance if you now ask for a discount on the 1199 55'' LG CX they'll simply say ''20 bucks off + Free shipping'' at max. So I could've gotten that model in October for the same price by simply asking.

      @@seanwilson9502 Netherlands :p It's kinda like the store wants to make between X and Y percentage profit on a given TV. The manufacturer hands them the prices they should be sold at... but if it means the store sells twice as many models at the lower price and they still make their targetted profit margin... well... why not make a few deals here and there? Ends up in more profit for the store and as long as the store doesn't advertise with those crazy prices on their website they're not doing anything illegal or frowned upon either. It's basically like going to a (used) car dealership in the US for instance.

    There‘s a general rule of thumb: never buy a first gen product - as seen by some of the HDMI 2.1 consoles/TVs...
    Is the new panel that some of the OLEDs use just a minor upgrade or something new that one might want to wait if there are unforeseen issues due to the green emitting layer and/or use of deuterium?

    • @johnsmithy7918
      @johnsmithy7918 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Second rule of thumb: avoid last generation product.
      Example: QD-OLED coming out in 2022.
      It's first generation, so don't buy.
      At the same time, if you wait until next year it will be second generation and a considerable step up to "regular" TVs.

    One thing to consider from what I was reading on the AVSForums is that QC on the first shipment of TVs is supposed to be better than later ones. Reason being these tvs end up as review units and essentially end up being word of mouth from first users who get them. Thats why you rarely hear about too much uniformity issues with all of the review units yet you start to hear about lots of uniformity issues on forums.

  • @thenonexistinghero

    I'd say it's always best to buy a TV that's about 6-12 months old. I got my Sony 65 Z9F for €1500 around 6 months after launch (and it cost like €3600 when it did). LG's CX OLED TV's (55 inch) are going for around €1000-€1100 right now. Unless you throw as much abuse at a TV as me (8 hours on work days, 18-20 hours on free days I spend at home), that's probably the best price/performance you can get right now. Great size for a TV that displays pretty much the best image you can currently get (anything better is only very slightly better).

      @loak3d 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@ightimmaheadout290 What i did with my C6 and C8 was use them normally for about 8months to a year, then i would leave them on permanently. Roughly yes, 3-6 months you'll start to notice static images burnt into the screen, if you leave it on 24/7. Also the blue light fades quicker so the center of the screen where it gets the most heat, tends to be the largest area affected by the loss of blue light, so colors begin to become quite inaccurate. Just don't abuse the panel and you should be Good. I've had my CX since August of last year, and no signs of anything yet, and i'm going to continue to baby this one for quite some time, because it has most the features i need at this point in time. Good HDR performance, HDMI 2.1, 4k@120hz (i have a 3080 running hdmi cord to tv) VRR support. Only thing i'm really interested in now is ultimately OLED's becoming brighter, or just moving to MicroLED in a handful of years.

    Another awesome video by Vincent!
    Still I have some comments
    1) If you have a LCD with mild DSE or an OLED with minimal near black banding you might want to at least wait for some informative reviews to see how the new models perform in this regard. I'll be paying particular attention to Samsung's mini LED LCD televisions to see if there is any improvements to uniformity.
    2) I thought some of the reviews (including Vincent's) were a bit pretentious in saying don't get the G1 if you won't be wall mounting. Yes, I understand the TV was specially designed for wall mounting but it's also true the stand design of the CX IMO is awful in terms of aesthetics and functionality (placement of sound bar). The GX with its optional stand feet looks so much better than the CX. Now (G1) you'll have more justification with better PQ performance.
    3) As much as I covet the Sony A90J (no Panasonic for me as I'm from the states) I wonder how many will be turned off by the $4500 MSRP? Will ~800 nits be good enough from the G1 if it costs significantly less?
    4) I guess Vincent doesn't think the mini LED LCD televisions from LG will be much of a factor? IDK, perhaps there are enough zones/mini LEDs to overcome the inherent weaknesses of IPS panels. I'm going to give these models a chance.

    • @seanwilson9502
      @seanwilson9502 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      1) I totally agree about the LG optional feet stand. I think LG, and most of our trusted TH-cam pros like Vincent, have not made it clear enough that this feet stand is an option. Most people have no clue about them and that is too bad. Me personally I never wall mount and I want my TV and stand to look sexy like a nice piece of furniture. It sucks that LG forces us to buy the wall mount. But they act like the only other choice is the ugly tripod stand when in fact the feet are even available now on the GX.
      2) Prices for G1 are virtually the same here is a site from Europe:
      OLED55G19LA.AEU - April 2021 - 2,399 euros
      OLED65G19LA.AEU - April 2021 - 3,499 euros
      OLED77G19LA.AEU - April 2021 - 6,499 euros
      Sadly the same as the Sony A90J prices
      and personally even though I think the A90J will be the best TV by far this year their ugly flush to the table stand sucks and the "sound bar mode" where it sits up high is even uglier. So I may buy G1 just because of that.
      I respectfully disagree with your take on the CX. I agree it sadly has no space for sound bar but I at least thought the super slim TV made it sexy and appealing nonetheless
